We are the world, yeah. I see people from the US, UK, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, Germany, Hongkong, South Africa, China (no preference here - I just typed based on what popped in my mind)... And it's amazing, because no matter how different our culture and languages, we all have similar issues - love, friendship, work, family... It's so amazing. I'm also amazed when I could identify posts from my countrymen (of course on neutral topics that don't discuss particular issues about particular nations) because of the way they answer. Sometimes, also, I try to guess from what country the member is based on his/her post. Of course there are also misses, and pleasant surprises. Where are you from and, can you also identify your countrymen just by reading their posts?

I'm from the Philippines and i can't identify a myLotter easily base on his posts because i really can say that most myLotter are good in writing in English. I can only identify Filipinos if the discussion is base on the current event of our country other than that, i guess im finding it hard to identify them.

I don't know. I just have a knack in identifying posts from fellow Filipinos. Maybe it's because I've tried teaching English to another Asian kids. I have seen the difference in the way we both use the language. Just a guess. I could be wrong.

Now that you said you like to guess from what country are your respondents, I won't tell you where am I from. Let's see if your guess is right. Me, too, I recognized some of my countrymen from their posts. It's something about the word order in a sentence, wich is so very different in my mother tongue. I also recognized a few of them from their nickname. As for the other nationalities I can't say I am able to identify users by what they post. The only thing I can tell quite accurate is the gender of the user.

Your english is good..but you say it's not your mother tongue. I have a feeling you're Asian, maybe from Indonesia or wait...maybe Philippines... You're a girl! I've already guessed wrong once today. But here goes - are you Filipino?

Oh, I'm flattered. I'm not too sure about my English, yet I'm trying my best. I don't know why my gender can't be viewed in my profile, I didn't do anything to hide it. But you were right about it.

I'm 20 and from the United States, more specifically Minnesota (a northern state). I can usually tell who's first language is English and who's isn't but of course not always, and there's nothing with that whatsoever, but just grammatical errors and weird punctuation and stuff like that.. Can usually tell me if someone's starting to learn the language and not quite fluent yet. I can SOMETIMES tell if they're speaking a "British" English language (versus American English) from slang and things like that. It's pretty cool that we're all from different places, backgrounds, speak different languages and so on.. And yet we all make MyLot our common ground to discuss issues that pertain to all of us. By the way, your English is PERFECT. Thought I would say that. I hope you don't take it offensively, but seriously, its PERFECT. Kudos!

No offense taken, and actually I appreciate that. I've been speaking English from when I could remember. I think that's an advantage because in our country, the better your English, the better your chances of getting hired . And of course, I've been watching lots of Hollywood stuff . That's why I'm getting hooked with myLot. Here, it doesn't matter who you are, where you're from, what you believe... If you say something, go ahead and say it. No one's gonna shoot you

MyLot is a representative of the world. There are a lot times where it is quite interesting. It is quite amusing to see people from my corner of the world, in fact from other parts of the country, as it can in fact vary a lot of the time. But to see people from other countries around the world is amazing. We can really travel the world in many ways. I am just really from the United States and consider myself to be slightly average, non important person. Still, when I look at others, it is very interesting to try and guess who might be from close by, from other parts of the country, from nearby countries, and from all around the world. It is quite the intriguing cultural experience. That is one of the things that makes myLot what it is. We are truly a combination of everything in the world.

I thought about the exact same thing when writing a reply to another myLot topic some hours ago. It's simply so amazing how we all, after all, feel nearly the same. No matter where we come from! About the identification of ones countrymen; That is literally impossible for me as I'm one of the few, if not only, active member(s) at myLot, who lives in Denmark. Currently myLot have about 125 people from Denmark, but most of them doesn't really post here after all. Personally I also just got back from a 2-3 years pause from myLot. I'm very satisfied to be back though. And this time I'm really hooked on the discussions and how, as you just mentioned, all people from around the world can unite and discuss a single topic as nearly everyone can relate to most of them! myLot is by far the only website that offers such a community. Long live the myLot community!

Hello Gloryacam, I don't seem to determine whether the person is located from the Philippines or other country. although through politics i would know where the person came from. most specially if a person mostly makes a discussion within the Philippine interest. some people are too intelligent to be determine their country of origin. Seriously, all this time i thought you were an Americanbut you proved me wrong. it depends on the name of the profile, picture and lastly country of origin Have a great day...

Nope, I'm Filipino through and through. Born, raised and probably die here.. By your name I knew you are from the Philippines. And yes, especially after some crisis, you would know because we talk about them a lot. And we talk about politics, a lot, too.

I am from the United States and I really don't think that I am able to see which people are from this country based solely on the way that they answer discussions. I think that the reason that this is the case for us is because of the fact that this is such a vast country with people from so many different backgrounds that it really is impossible to quickly identify those people that are from the same country as myself.

I guess that's true for a big country. A small one like ours, we have a lot of common traits that's why its easy to "spot another" Also, we have this way with names. So, most of the time, I read the post, look at the name, guess that he/she is from which country, then look at the profile. Sometimes I don't get it right, though.

Im a Canadian and the more I read around here, the more I find that basically we're all the same deep down.......with or without antennas lol. I like to be able to find out what other people from other country think about certain subject. Some have a bit of a problem writing in English but it doesnt matter to me...at least we can communicate together. I cant tell where someone is from most of the time unless they say so.

How'd you know about my antenna? It's amazing how we could all interact in spite of some, yes, problems in writing. But, we do communicate with each other. I, too, like to hear what other peope from other countries think. Of course, there could be sensitive issues where people from different countries and cultures vastly differ in opinion, but I try to stay clear of those discussions. If I don't, I just read but don't comment. I have relatives in Canada (Toronto) who've invited me for a visit. One day, I will. They say it's a beautiful country.
