well, in my opinion, i believe that spongebob really is a bad show, i mean i dont have any kids (still a teen) but i have 2 siblings under 5, and almost immediately after they watch something on tv, they begin to imitate it, which is why most of the time i let them watch the good ole "educational" shows such as dora, or bob the builder. those shows from the '90s that actually showed that the producers cared about the viewers and not about the ratings.

I let my kids watch G and PG movies. Sometimes, I will let them watch PG13 movies. And, they watch what I watch on TV which most shows are usually PG or PG13. I won't let them watch horror shows, because I was scared when watching them. I don't want them to have nightmares. They watch Nick, Nick JR and Disney when it is available.

You might be better off letting your son watch some of the PBS kids shows. Those an intentionally trying to teach kids and they aren't teaching bad habits or trying to sell things.

I have seen my granddaughter watch this show and I too think its not a good show for kids. Its really a stupid show in my opinion. The characters treat each other really bad which then shows kids bad behavior. If I had a say in what my granddaughter was to watch it definitely would not be this one. The good shows for the young are Dora, Little Bill and Sesame street.

I have a 5 year old, 2 year old and nine month old and we dont watch Spongebob! I personally think it is dumb, and definitely not age approriate for a baby. My younger kids like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Imagination Movers, Wiggles and Barney. When he gets a little older, you might want to try Wonder Pets, Dora/Diego, Backyardigans, Max and Ruby and Handy Manny.

My kids love Spongebob. But there are some episodes that I think is not a very good role model for kids. For instance, there are a lot of times when Squidward or Patrick pushes Spongebob around to the point that Spongebob becomes their slave. I do not think this is a good example because it gives kids the impression that someone should be pushed around and someone should do the pushing and the bullying. There is another show that I have seen and heard unfavorable and disrespectful dialogues. This is Fairly Odd Parents aired over Nickelodeon. There was an episode when the character said "Parents are morons". Need I say more? I hope producers of this show be extra careful since it is very young children that patronize these shows.

Why do you think spongebob is a bad show? I enjoy that they sometimes have "harder" words thrown in here and there, which helps kids gradually increase their vocabulary by learning new words by context.

In my humble opinion, I think your one year old son is too young to watch spongebob TV show. I think spongebob TV show usually add a adult sense of humor, I think approx. start from 5 years old kid are able to watch this TV show. A too young kids is hard too get the meaning of the humor, their are mind are too young to understand the point of that show. For an adult, spongebob is a funny, have a meaning, entertain tv show.
