Do you have any old appliances in your home?

We have this microwave from.. it's gotta be the late 80's. It still works, although it's before microwaves were made so that the items in it revolve - so you have to turn whatever you're microwaving, and microwave it for longer because it's not as efficient. Also, up until last year, we had this coffee pot, probably bought from like Wal-Mart or something, that was very standard, very 1990's. Finally I bought my dad a nice Cuisinart one last Christmas, from Macy's (pretty reasonable price) - and he's FINALLY getting the hang of it's technology (setting a timer for when it turns on, programming it, and all that.) It's pretty hilarious how behind the times we are in terms of that, and our microwave.
I seriously struggle to learn how to work new microwaves, I sometimes actually have to help, especially with setting times - because the one I have at home (seriously from the 80's) just has this knob that you turn to set the time.
ANYWAY - do you have any very-outdated appliances or utilitarian items at home?

We have a really old oven in our house. It was here when we moved in. I'm not sure how old it is. I would guess that it is from the 80's if not earlier. Somewhere we have the book from it. It still works pretty good but I think it is starting to fail. I have to turn it a few degrees higher than what a recipe calls for so that the stuff cooks in the correct time.

Personally I have no idea how old some of the appliances are in the home I am living in now, as these were all included when we bought the house, but the Washer and Dryer we replaced when we first bought the house was one of the really old looking ones, so I am sure the Stove and refridgerator are quite old as well. The microwave we own is quite old, but not as old as the one you have. Would be nice to be able to update soon, but money is the object there. Just as long as everything continues to work we are fine.

It depends. What do you consider old?
I have a TV that is about 18 years old, one that is about 14 years old, and another that is 11 or 12. I have a VHS player that I bought shortly after my oldest was born, and a washer and dryer that are 9 years old. I also have a fridge that I'm guessing is 5 or 6 years old, and a glass top stove that's about the same age.
I even have a stove and dishwasher that were here long before I moved in. However, the stove stopped working a few years back, and I wouldn't trust the dishwasher to do the dishes. That thing's been here since the 60's, after all!
Happy mylotting!

At our village house we got a very old fridge, maybe from the 70s. There was also a very old washing machine, but we got rid of it and bought a new one.
We had kept a TV for long, maybe 25 years, but we got rid of it too when it started messing up the colors.
Sometimes I feel like those old electric and electronic items were built with love and can last for very long. While more recent ones will not manage it easily.

Old appliances need special care and protection during their function and I am always cautious about this. At home, I have my scooter that is 22 years now and performs very well. Old equipments are always items of record memory and experience!
Thanks for this beautiful topic and have nice services from your old equipments!!

Hi
Yes we still have our old refrigerator which we had purchased in 1978, the year my brother was born. It is still lying in our house, though we have two more new ones. But the thing to be appreciated is that its compressor is still in good working condition.

Hi. maezee. We are renting this single wide trailer that we are now living in. The stove and fridge plus the dishwasher is in good condition. I know that it is old, but it does not look outdated or anything. It is a decent stove. It looks half brand new. The fridge may be an older one. This is still in good condition too. It is a wide fridge, and it works just fine.

I do have this JC Penny Radio-cassette given by my Aunt way back 1984. It's still usable. I am a very sentimental person, and this is my Aunt's first gift to me when she came from a foreign country in 1984. I got more new modern radio cassette which I bought from my own. But I can give those to my siblings when they asked, but this JC Penny Radio-cassette will remain with me. And it makes mu Aunt happy knowing that I still have her gift with me till this time. And that makes her wanting to give me gifts than her other nieces and nephews..LOL.

Oh yes! I know what kind of microwave you're talking about. Just before we moved here in our house, which is in the suburb, we lived in a rundown apartment downtown. Appliances were already there so we didn't have to bring any from where we came. Well one of the appliances, the microwave, looked really old. Yes, it didn't turn, it had a dial for settings, and the outside design is made to look like as if it were made of wood!
Stainless looking microwave must've been unheard of back then.

Old appliances in my home? eemm... let say 14 inch TV (from 90's) still useful so we keep it, kitchen set (from 80') already be a part of my family, and gas stove (90's)

The oldest thing in my house is an upright freezer made by Sears, many years ago. I don't know exactly how old it is, but I do know it's well over 50 years old. My parents bought it second hand when I was a kid and I'm 65 now. I have to admit that it makes me nervous, so I check it now and then to make sure that it's still working! But it keeps on keeping on...

Kitchen...Stove 2 years old ...Microwave..4 years old...Frigerator...3 years old
Washer Dryer....4 years old Televisons..I got 4 months ago another 2 years ago
I had to replace my appliances when I moved in my house 18 years ago the appliancs were outdated I decided I may as well do it now it does make things a lot easier and faster but I am still of the mindset especially now a days that if something is still working use it! Save the money for something else more important like savings or even a vacation

YES! We do have old appliances at my home. It is older than me and still working. actually it is all 3 in 1. It is used for extracting juices from veg and fruits, for baking cakes, etc. and it has also blender. :) I love it! I think it's gotta be in the late 70's or early 80's still complete and no rust. :)
