Since it is cold I decided to cook tinolang manok last night. It was my first time to cook that because my favorite is chicken adobo. I was worried that it will not taste good, but when we ate it, it was awesome! taste really good and I like the broth its so warm in my stomach and this is really a comforting food fro winter.

I love tinolang manok especially when there's a lot of dahon ng sili (chili leaves) and sayote (chayote), and it's raining outside! My grandma makes awesome tinolang manok. The recipe is a hit-and-miss with me, but when I do it right it's very satisfying!

practice makes perfect, cook it several times and soon you will cook it almost perfectly. It happened to my adobo, before it was a hit and miss, but after cooking it many times I can cook it satisfyingly.

my wife is a good cook too. she cooks a lot of recipe using chicken and me and my son enjoys it very much. true that during a cold day it is nice to have one hot good meal. it is not usual for me to see tomatoes on tinola but she saute the garlic, onions and ginger with tomatoes. it is not the usual for me but for me it tasted better than the ones without tomatoes.

It's been a while since I last cooked tinolang manok. As a matter of fact, I couldn't remember when it was exactly, and unfortunately, I think I forgot how to cook this dish, too. :(

Hi! Love the discussion topic because I myself is a filipina and I have always loved tinolang manok especially my momma's recipe. My husband is an american and his favorite filipino dish is the pork and ribs adobo. I tried to cook adobo but it never turns out like my mum's cooking. Nothing like a mother's authentic filipino cooking :). Tinolang manok is delicious especially with a lot of vegetables such as soyete, papaya, and cabbage! Served with steamed white rice! OMG I am getting myself hungry now, haha.

I find the papayas here bitter. So instead of using it I prefer chayote.

Hi angelic! Oh wow! I love tinolang manok as well. I love cooking it when I was still in the Philippines but ever since I came here in the UK, I haven't really tried cooking it because it's hard to find a replacement for the vegetable "sayote" or vegetable pear because they are only sold in Chinese stores and sometimes in Filipino shops. I miss gulping down the broth of tinolang manok. Although I must say that chicken adobo is quite possible to cook here. :) My fiancee actually loves Adobo especially pork adobo. He has tried the chicken version and he loved it too. :)
