Well, if its a Strativerious (which I probably misspelled) they say its worth it. I know the show is normally political, but no politics are in this segment... just the lady and her "new" violin! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/39859995#39859995 Personally I didn't hear that big a difference, but I can't say my ears (or my speakers) are that great... What do you think? I hear that a Strat is worth it...

Kind of a lot of money to spend on a violin, especially when there is so much need in the world, another thing to consider is that you probably won't even be able to play it, because of its value.

did you watch the vid? she was playing it... no, these are made to be played and I HATE when someone says "Oh, they shouldn't pay that much for something when there's so much need" heck, it could be that it was being sold to RAISE money for all we know if money isn't spent, it isn't "working" I say, spend money wisely and put it, and people to work - nobody should be getting handouts if they can be working...

From what I understand, they belong in a museum, If you are rich and you desire it is up to you, no one can tell you what to do with your money! I still think there is a lot of need, children with cancer, people who are needy not of there own fault and lots of good causes, but that's my feeling, if you use what you have to do good for others, then it comes right back to you. No apologies.

That is a lot of money to pay for anything, let alone an instrument. It might be worth a lot because of the history of it but I would be afraid to play it. I didn't hear that big of a difference either, I guess you have to be a musician.

I heard it, and I couldn't tell a difference, but it could be the uneducated ear and the cheap speakers on the computer... Still, everyone says how GREAT the Strats are...

She does look very young, but we don't know how old she started playing, or if her family already had money or what...

I've heard of that kind of violin and knew they were quite valuable but $3.6 million certainly is a lot of money. I heard it when it was originally aired and I couldn't tell if it was any different from an "ordinary" violin or not. I guess it's just the name and the rarity plus I think she said there's something different about how it was made but I don't recall what. I suppose it's the same thing as with paintings; personally, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a painting worth a fortune and one done by an amateur that would be worth a few bucks but I'm far from an art expert. If there is a lot of history behind it and it is finly made I am sure it is worth a lot. but 3.6 million? thats too much I think for the fiddle.

That is a lot of money to pay for a violin. It would certainly be something to treasure. To have that work of art would be simply amazing!

Must be nice to have that kind of money! Strats are very expensive and I think they are hand made. I think a lot of the good sounds are made by good players. LOL!

When this violin was made, they were all handmade, but there are so few of them and they make such awesome music, it makes them even more valuable then your average violin!

well..a good instrument with great tone is worth it's weight in gold, but i can't see myself spending 3 mil even if i had it.that's just too much on one object.

I hear it's worth it too, but just send me the money, a strat would be wasted on me....

Me too, I think something like that should be played, it would be a waste just to sit in a museum...

I couldn't tell that big a difference, either. However, it did sound like I heard two violins at one point. This lady is very good, though, and that was an interesting story behind the violin. I never knew that Napoleon was musical, lol.

That is an awfully lot of money for a violin or for any musical instrument, for that matter!
