Most women hate competition.
And sport is all about competition.

For one thing my husband doesn't watch much sports on tv, the only thing he watches are boxing, and UFC fighting, he's not into football, baseball, basketball things like that. I don't know if boxing and ufc are considered sports. I don't like to watch them, boxing to me is boring, and if he's watching it, it puts me to sleep, I can kind of tolerate ufc, if its on, I'll watch it a little bit, but its not my first choice. We usually compromise, we'll find an alternate channel to watch when commercials come on, it'll be something that I want to watch, its alot of channel changing but it works, if I don't want to do that, I'll just read a good book sitting on the couch while he's watching his shows.

Nothing really. You have to follow her orders to peace. In our home, we are fortunate that the ladies are not that much insisting. But we do not disturb them anyway, if they want to see any TV programs.

Yeah, but sometime I have to insists especially if its finals or I need to catch up with the boxing fight. I just don't know at some point how to deal with it, she preoccupies herself for other chores although it is unnecessary ^_^ like washing the clothes during the evening. I know shes mad, but I have to watch my tv program. Geezzz marriage is such a complicated thing.

Well said. It's complicated. But there are a lot more fun deals involved. In our small home at times I really feel distracted because of my family members. But when they are out for a couple of days - life just comes to a standstill for me. I feel less energetic. I just cant't gather energy to turn on the PC on those occasions. So, I must say - these all happen and these all make life so beautiful!

There is one thing you must know about women. If anything is more important to you than they are, or even if it seems that way, they are not going to like it. There are a lot of women that like sports. If sports, or anything else, tend to get in the way of a relationship however even they will not like it.
Think back to what you do and it will give an incite into what is going on here. How often do you watch sports? Do you go off to another room to watch or do you try to get her to watch with you. Many women have never learned what a given sport is all about and are not interested in learning.
If you watch a lot of sports programs it more than likely takes up a lot of your spare time, like when your not working. If so there is no time left for her and she will resent that no matter what it is. I love computers and I lost my first wife because I spent too much time on it. She figured that it was far more important to me than she was so found someone else.
Try to think about how much time you actually give her in talking or just being with her and I think you will have your answer.

Good, I am glad to hear that. It is very simple...give her the time she needs and she will be okay with it. She may not like it but she will live with it. If she somehow feels cheated then you have a problem. My best to you.

Thanks for your reply sorry to hear about what happen to you and your first wife. Anyway, I am not that always in front of the tv all the time just to watch my sports, I choose my time or day when to watch it. Although I had already talked things about the sports I loved in and how it works, still shes not interested with it. But before watching it, I always tell her ahead of time. hehe.

It is because female don't like violent. Athletes sometimes resort to violence, in hopes of injuring and intimidating opponents. Such incidents may be part of a strategy developed by coaches or players. In boxing, unruly or extremely violent behavior by one of the contestants often results in the fighter breaking the rules being penalized with a points deduction, or, in extreme cases, disqualification. Outlawed tactics in boxing include hitting the opponent on the back of the head, under the belly, during clinching, and to the back. Other tactics that are outlawed, but less seen, are pushing an opponent extremely hard to the floor, or hitting repeatedly after the round has ended. This is a suffering for female audiences.

Not all women watch soap operas and not all men watch sports, so you can't say such things "come with every married life".

My wife doesnt event like watching any kind of sports, she can only embrace it when it is already a documentary or a movie/film. As much as she hated sports I do also hate her soap operas (ahh the ladies love the drama! lol). Its just basically normal in every married life, the secret comes with a give and take even to each other's differences.

why ? torchabkazed because a man loses his hearing when watching
football or wrestling. God Forbid. You could say Hony help the kitchen is on fire, and the response? "HOney thats nice" huh? While when we
watch our favorite program we get this, honey do you think the blue'tie or the white? honey where did you put the scissors? or the pape? or mygloves or my keys? anything to keep breaking into our favorite
programs. why cannot men wait until our soaps or other favorites are done?
I have learned to loathe football, basket ball I love, Yes sports makes men deaf to anything around them. soaps and Oprah make us women selevtive in our hearing.

Hi torch ...
It's simple basically, because watching sports is really boring, especially sport that we don't like very much, but i have no objection, if my mate want to watch it, but i'm just around doing something rather than to accompany watching it also

You sounded like my wife, lol. That is what she is basically doing while I'm watching my fav sports, shes preoccupied with so many things like unfinished chores or stay in the room, read her books. Although, we have shared other things but definitely we have our own tv programs. hehe, thanks for the response !

lol. naturally women are not into sports so please do not insist in your wife to like your shows, hahaha we, women generally do not like to watch sports of any kind on tv..so for you to have peace, why not buy two sets of tv? hahaha kidding have a schedule or something, just dont force her to like it because she will never like it, we would rather watch Oprah, or America's next top model or Ellen or Glee... ( well on my part though i love watching those shows )
if you want her to like those sporty shows well do it bit by bit, introduce her to those shows..like if u want to watch UFC like my husband does, what he did was talk about it, he told me who the players are, who are the best ones and stuff like that..and eventually i got to like it... hahaha some are hunks and are hot. lolz..i dont exactly look at the game, i look at the men. hahahaha
goodluck with you!

I am a female and I love watching sports with my husband. We have direcv sunday ticket so we watch all of the football games. But I know what you mean. We went to a pro football game today and I had to go to the restroom. I walked right in with no wait, but the line to the men's room was way out the door.

I don't think your beef is with just women. I married my husband knowing he didn't watch a lot of sports. When he watches Nascar I can think of a million other things to do. Luckily I don't like to shop. He knew that when he married me! On the other hand we both have "warts" neither one of like. You'll figure it out. A little give and take. (Take me horse racing).

Sounds similar in my case, she often preoccupied herself with other things as well, doing chores is always an excuse which is pretty good, she cooks which we both shared after I watch the show, haha, good compensation eh? Anyway, its always the give and take thing in marriage, thanks for the reply.

yes a lot of women dont like sports^^ but me i like it^^ at least i like to watch a few games^^ i like to watch euro games and also fifa^^ but if my bf was watching a show that i dont like i would tell him^^ but if he liked so much i would let him watch and i would do other thing^^ its ok anyway. if your wife insists to change channel you say to her that next time she wants to watch something even if you dont like you let her watch^^ so this time she does the same for you^^ that is being a real couple huh? ahah

if the sport you are watching has some good looking men in skimpy clothes then your wife is more likley to be happy. football or boxing or grand prix(all that glamour) or even tour de france is good for both me and my husband of 20 years to watch. forget boring things like golf and american football though you can't even see who is who. lol

Not all women are the same. I love NASCAR and I can watch some football. Also like watching basketball. I rarely say anything about my husband watching television. I usually either watch what he is watching or I just find something else to occupy my time. I can't really explain why some women don't like sports unless it is the fact they don't understand them.

Hi Torch,
I'm a woman and I really don't like watching sports on tv at all. When I was still married, I would go to games with my husband and I loved it but I just found it so boring to watch on tv. My husband loved watching the games. I would just use the time to do something else. It didn't bother me at all that he watched them. I am guessing that your wife would like to watch something else? Maybe you could pick up a cheap tv and hook it up in another room so that she can watch whatever she wants while you are watching the game? Or it could be that she wants to snuggle with you watching tv and like me...hates watching sports on tv. If that is the case then you guys need to compromise. Maybe you could agree to watch a movie or a show with her on a different night??? It would not be fair of her to deny you to watch your sports simply because she doesn't like them.

I don't have a mate but i do watch sports on tv. Anytime the tennessee volunteers are palying i watch football. I also watch basketball when the vols are playing. I think it would be nice to have someone to watch the games with. The ladies better be glad u are home watching sports.

Maybe it isn't so much that your wife dislikes what you are watching on television. Perhaps it is that she just wants you to pay more attention to her instead.

I do not mind watching sports actually, but I have to say that my fiancee really watches way too much sport on tv, which really annoys me from time to time. So I do not have a problem with any show in particular, but I think people who watch a lot of tv might want to think about how much tv they watch and how often, because that could be the real issue.

Actually, you can enjoy the TV show alone. If sometimes you miss the time, you can surf the Internet. Different people has different interests, your wife should understand you.
