I read a post this morning about Filipinos, I didn't check the profile of the poster but he is not a Filipino. He is questioning why so many Filipinos join mylot. He said " maybe because of unemployment" I think in one place he is right but for most of us it's only our past time to joined here not for our main source of income.
I open that page for me to comment when I get in my room after my regular job, I read it few minutes before I am going to my work so no time for me to response.
I am amazed when I got home, I refresh the page and the post was already deleted. My plan after I post my response, I will report that post and rate as negative because it's a bad reputation for all Filipinos who are enjoying here. I am against with his ideas and it's bad for us Filipinos treated like what he post. It's a sort of discriminating our race.
Questions:
Our you here for earnings only? or you are here to socialize? Share your ideas Kabayans.

Hi there, Julyteen.:)
thank you for standing for us all Filipinos here in Mylot though yu were not able to directly post your response to his discussion but I guess this topic here you have posted will surely hit his screen.
I hate it that we often thought as the lowly class and it seems that we are always for the money... some people are just too narrow minded to just see one side of the box...
In my case, I am not here merely for money. Because if I do, I will be here 24/7 the whle year through. And I'd keep on posting topics (never mind if there are sensible and relevant or not) and responding to discussions insensibly... I am here for friendship, to learn and to share my life. Matter of fact, I am here to seek comfort and company even if it is just virtually. My life is just so boring that I am thankful there is a site like Mylot wherein I can spend a little of my time venting, ranting, crying, laughing, thinking and a lot more.
Mylot makes me feel like I am human. How's that? Money is just a bonus.:)

Honestly, I initially joined to make money. But seeing as to how many things I can learn form this site, making money is only secondary. I find it refreshing when I get to talk to people with different opinions. I am unemployed and bored, so mylot is a very welcome change from facebook. It's like forum that deals with everything.
I actually answered that post. I really didn't mind answering it because I wanted him to understand what I am coming from. I can't speak for the rest of our countrymen, but I did say that the reason why there are many Filipinos(BTW, he spelled "Filipinos" wrong!) here in mylot is because majority of us have internet connections at home and since we have free time these days (sem break!), there is no harm in earning money online.

Yes he spelled Philippino not Filipinos! It means he doesn't know about us. You are right internet connections now is easy to obtained in our country than before. Instead of wasting your time doing some post in facebook better to spend it here. Aside from the earnings you can also meet people around the globe.

Hello July teen,
Would you mind sharing me the profile link of this person? so that i can check it. If he questions us going in to mylot, how come he doesn't question others like the people from india, malaysia. how can he say unemployment where there are other nations who also experience this.
I mean, why just US only? it's sort of down grading. well, our time will come. am here to have fun and earn as well. frankly, you can't make me waste time on some site for nothing.

I was already deleted mate. I don't know how many hours the post shows here in mylot because when I went to my room after 8 hours work the post wasn't found already. It's a sort of discriminating Filipinos. Better admin delete it because alot of our countrymen will react on it and maybe it will start misunderstanding to many members.

hello julyteen!
Whoever posted that thread is lucky, it was deleted before Filipino mylotters pounced on him through comments, lol. I pity the man though for being ignorant. Mylot earnings for any given month will not suffice as source for daily income, but the knowledge and friends you gain here, is worth millions. And having many Filipinos here, who write fluid English, is proof that we are an intelligent breed who can talk about any issues tackled here, just as fluently as other English speaking countries.
Anyway, unemployment is rampant in the Philippines as is anywhere else in the world. To point out that its the cause of the presence of many Filipinos here is simply a racial discrimination. However, the presence of Filipinos in mylot or in any other websites that gives monetary rewards for postings, just shows that Filipinos are not lazy. Even in the midst of a financial constraint, we find legal ways and means to earn decently. I am speaking here for the majority of Filipinos who are in mylot mainly because of the knowledge, sharing of ideas and the socialization, monetary consideration is just an afterthought.

I did not seen such topic but anyway he/she reaped the result "deletion". Who deleted mylot admin? Anyway I'm here because I want something to share to everybody from my heart and my mind, my knowledge and experienced. In addition to that earning money, atleast here you learn, have friends, socialized, and interact with money involved that commensurate your effort... thanks for this kind of topic.. see you around...

It is very unfair on his part to discriminate based on nationalities.First thing is people enjoy talking here, even I am enjoying my stay here speaking to people making online friends etc.
And a site becomes popular in many of the countries whe the popularity is high people just come in and if they enjoy their stay the will continue for
longer period.
Anyways forget about such annoying comments and have the fun.

If I would have been able to read that discussion, I would have been irritated. Why do people make the mistake others have already committed, being racist in discussions, and I hate how Filipinos are mostly the subject. I am here to earn, but what is wrong with that? I don't want to be a hypocrite and tell that I only want to socialize, I have facebook for that.

I use mylot mostly for research for my other online work or to check out new online opportunities. I also use it as a sort of temperature check on issues that we are currently facing in the country.
Like texting, surfing is the new craze in the Philippines. Judging from all the "surf all you can" promos that ISPs have launched, Filipinos are venturing into the online world either to socialize or try to earn a few dollars. In most of the websites that I regularly visit, I see a lot of Filipinos there too. I was looking at the top countries in a site that I am currently obsessed in, that is locationary.com, and the Philippines ranks as the 6th country with most data entries. We are even ahead of India! To me that means that there are a lot of Filipinos entering data there.
I think his comment that the reason why Filipinos populate the internet is because of unemployment is not necessarily true only to the Philippines. It shows that the person is ignorant of what is happening in the world, but that's his opinion. I would have loved to debate him on the issue.

That's true. I was actually waiting for a response but here I find out that the discussion was deleted. Oh well...
Sayang, I wanted to enlighten him pa naman about the situation in our country. I really can't blame foreigners for getting the wrong impression about us when our media (and sadly other online posters) portray us in a bad light.
This is what I like about online communities; we can have an open discussion about anything and hopefully shed some light to things that may otherwise be unknown to us if we do not meet other people with contrasting points of view.

Well, I think earning money is just one of the many reasons that Filipinos like you and me join mylot... I'm here for earnings and socializing too. I enjoy mylot because i learn new things from it and about other people too. I even share my problems here. At least mylot knows the post is quite offending that's why they deleted it immediately..Thank you mylot.

I believe mylot is a worth using as a social network site compare to the ones in facebook, friendster, etc. because i got to know people here, most specially friends from other countries. first time this year i got myself a chatmate in yahoo but didn't last long because of busy schedule., i chat with them still.

Well I'm glad it got deleted. If it were still up here, I'd shoot him with another question:
"Do you seriously think that all the white people have all the best ideas?"
or
"So what are YOU doing here?"
I'm Filipino-American and things like this infuriate me. As it does to most of us here.

we are here to earn and while it maybe true that some are unemployed, it still doesnt give anyone the right to comment negatively on why some choose to be here. not even a good idea to be picking on Filipinos for his post. at least Filipinos found a more decent source of earning than doing illegal stuff. and then there's the love of making new friends given we(generally) can be really nice and are always willing to help even with just sharing honest opinions.
god bless that guy whoever he is. i hope he finds his reason, other than unemployment, as to why he is on mylot too.

That guy's ears could have good for kilawin...LOL. Obviously, I enjoy being here, for the conversations, the people, the insights and earning is not really my priority. Highly prejudiced remarks like what you saw should never be tolerated.

I think he's right at some point, I'm sorry. But I think that post is very much reality based, I mean we can't deny it or as an individual do anything about it.
It cant be all ''pogi points'' all the time. But you are right as well, The last thing we need now is a broken spirit.. so KUDOS to that!
thank you!

I am also a filipino and i got hurt because I don't expect that someone in this social networking will discriminate Fiipinos. He don't know what he is saying. May i ask what is his nationality.?

He is right to an extent because is there's high unemployment rate in this country. But it doesn't follow that Filipino members join mylot due to unemployment, to me that's just a plain stupid analogy. I'm not saying that the poster is (well, may he is after all but sounds like a comment from a loser ). So far, the Philippines rank third as far as the number of members in this site so he should have asked the same question to Indians and US users as well who happens to be the first and second as far as the number of membership in this site is concerned.
On personal level, I won't deny that I'm here to earn. My time is precious and i don't intend to use it in something unproductive. But i'm not here for the earnings alone, but wait...why should i justify why I'm active in this site? Maybe if someone asks that question in a nice way, i'll probably give an answer. Cheers!

I join MyLot because it is one of the best discussion sites online that anyone could join. The site has a good traffic which makes it a superb site for anyone who want to have more friends and at the same time earn extra money. Mylot is a grateful site. It does not allow blasphemy and unpleasant discussions. Mylot is one of the good discussion sites for people who want more friends online. The members are very friendly and you can ask help from them regarding things that you don’t know.Once you are a member of mylot, you are able to correspond easily with other members. There are lot of things that you can learn from the discussions posted in the site.

That's so funny of him to say that. What about him? What is he doing here? If I have read that, I would say that whatever is his reason for joining mylot, that would be the same for us Filipinos. We are enjoying mylot that's why most of us are here. Unemployment? well, i guess that' only on his mind. We Filipinos know how to balance our time. We can work at the same time enjoy social networking as this. Earning wise, come on...do you think we can do this full time for a living. We Filipinos are like that. We honestly workhard because we want a better life. So good it was deleted because if not, then probably, you'll read a novel here from Filipinos hehe

we are here to enjoy, share our positive feedbacks and well, maybe for earning too. He must know that Filipinos are hardworking and intelligent that why we are in different earning sites because of what we are by nature, di ba?
