I worked abroad for two years, not as an expat but as a volunteer so I can't say anything about the financial gains. Working in another country is a very enriching experience. You get to learn about other cultures and learn more about yourself as well. You also learn to respect and understand people of other nationalities. You also get to share your skills and learn new ones. The experience is something that can't be traded for anything else. The downside is, of course, having to adjust to the new environment and missing your family. But other than that, I highly encourage people to try working abroad at one point in their lives. It's very rewarding.

Of course, the ones who get maltreated abroad is another story. There is nothing rewarding about it at all.

I lived and worked in Spain for eight-ish years and I arrived back home in the UK just three weeks ago. While we enjoyed our time abroad, it was tough going, but now I really feel like I am home. I did miss my family an awful lot and a number of other factors made things difficult for me as an individual.
If it is something you want to do I would say that you should. I would certainly go off somewhere else if I had the finances to do it again, and perhaps when my kids are old enough to fend for themselves I will go off into the sunset somewhere again.

I am not a worker abroad, but I have lot's of friends working abroad. I have asked them such question before, I am also planning to work abroad.
Best thing about working abroad is that you earn upto 4 times your salary here in the philippines, and maybe the worst thing about it, is to be away from your family and loved ones.

The worst thing in working abroad is to missing your family and love ones. And the best thing is the adventure of living alone. You can do whatever you want and no one will stop you.

Hi Leonita! At first it was like a culture shock because you're not used to the language and the weather but then again as time passes by, you get used to it. I am enjoying it but the only regret of leaving my home country is I miss my family and friends. I haven't been home for a year now and I miss hanging out with my sisters and friends and the whole family. :( I'm just hoping that I can get things sorted soon so I can get a vacation at least before Christmas time comes so I can visit my family and my pals back home. It's worth working for abroad because it helps you earn more than you used to back home. There's a huge currency difference that's why most of my countrymen would rather work their backs to the bone in other countries than stay and work in our home country.
