well of course nurse and doctor can take care of a patient... they are trained, they have studied for them to be able to give that care to their patients.. and in the hospital, the patient's status are well monitored too.

The doctor is the team leader and the nurse is a part of that team. The doctor, after conducting all the investigations and clinical examination, comes to a diagnosis and prescribes medications and other necessary things for the patient. The nurse is meant to provide all these medications and other necessary things to that patient. Thus it is the basic duty of the nurse to follow the instructions of the doctor. The nurse: patient ratio is greater than the doctor:patient ratio. Moreover, a nurse belonging to the 'mother' class has a inborn instinct of nurturing her baby and this instinct quality is also utilized in the health system. So it is the duty of the nurse to take care of the patient as a representative of the health system. Obviously, she is more capable of taking care of a patient under the guidance of a doctor.

I do not think that patient care is usually done by the doctor. It is usually the nurse who does the patient care. The doctor only prescribes the medicines and the treatment. The nurses follow the instructions and are usually the ones responsible for the patient care. Cheers! Ram

Hi, I would say both doctor and nurse are doing the best part in the hospital. Doctor has the main duty to cure the patient's sickness, whilst nurse has the responsibility to takecare of patient's needs. So both of them are playing an important role in the hospital and they have to work hand in hand in order to provide the best service to the patients. There was once my son was hospitalized in hospital for 3 nights due to high fever. I can see the nurses are very concerned and they come to measure his body temperature every 3 hourly and whenever I have urgent need, I would press the bell, and one of the nurse will come straightly.

Some doctors don't have the tender loving care a nurse has. So i would say nurses takes better care of the patients. I am a nurse so i bet i'm a little bias here . Anyway, doctors only visit patients when they need to check the lab results, how the patient is doing or is the patient reacting to the meds he/she has given. While the nurse is there willing to check on the patient during his/her whole shift, gives prescribed medications, do bedside care, assist the patient, is the one who get's inside the room of the patient when he/she rings the bell because he/she needs assistance.. I love nurse and i love being a nurse even if im not working as one now.

Doctors don't have the training or the experience nurses do. I would, among other things, have the old pro at giving shots, give me the shot. Thank you very much.

I would say that the nurse takes more care of the patient than a doctor does because a nurse will give you your medications, give you drinks, help you out of and into bed if needed and all the doctor does is diagnose what the patient has and write prescriptions to that person.
