NU107 saying goodbye.

After 23 years, NU107, the home of new rock, is finally saying goodbye.
The reason is that due to financial reasons, the station will be reformatted to a more "masa" version to reach more listeners.
NOT A REFERRAL LINK, Guys.

I read this at my friend's multiply and a part of me died while I was reading his article. Then googled some more and then it's been finally confirmed. They are saying good bye.
I started listening to them when I was 15 years old and the rest is history. My favorites DJs are Dylan, Trisha (what your beef gal), Francis Brew (coolest ever), Mondo (very handsome guy - was my trainer in Parlance Call Center), Zach (and his sarcasms), Myrene Husky Girls and some of the new ones.
They have been a part of me and I admit I haven't tuned it to the station lately since I have been busy reformatting my life also - not until today. Pretty much I got my musical appreciation from them.
Daghang salamat, NU107. Lotsa lots of good times with you.

I'm aware that there's NU 107 but i hardly tune in to them. That's because I'm not into rock music, well not all of the time at least. That could be the same reason why they don't have that many listeners, they are being branded as a rock music and there fore only plays rock music all the time. Peoples interests vary, just like how each person's music preference differ at certain times of day. Maybe a reformat is just timely, although it's sad that the name will have to replaced as well.

I have to agree. Not everyone can appreciate the music they served and even though there are a lot of wit in this station -some can't take it and will have to settle to those stations who fits with their mood.

The DJs wit are not enough. An FM station is first and foremost a music station so people expect to hear more music that hearing DJs talking whether full of wits or the lack of it. Of course with the exception of 89.9's "Good times with Mo" which i happen to like, but in fairness the songs they play are the current hits even if it's far and in between. But that's another story.

This is really sad because they'e been the bedrock of rock radio. Yet, this does not mean rock music, especially Pinoy rock music should stop playing. The people behind NU should listen to the clamour of the people. They should find ways on how to get back and let rock be heard again. How about online radio, guys?

I admit few people are listening to them. And even though NU107 Cebu has just been resurrected but competition is really hard.
Most radio stations now are almost reformatted to meet the "masa" - mainly for financial reasons and not the quality anymore.
I hope years from now, they'll come back. When time comes where everyone will appreciate the quality of their radio station as well as the music they served.

Sad news indeed. Goodbye NU. Let's hope another breed of rock station will beborn and follow its footsteps to cater to aspiring young rockers.

So you love alternative, rock, hardcore or whatsoever headbanging
music? They used to have that Cebu station in Ayala? Really sad, I wonder
if there are other stations playing these kind of music.
I used to listen to 99.5 DyRT before (Mid 90s) with Ka Pedro. The station
rocked my world until I heard they played Paper Roses by Jolina Magdangal.

This is a sad news :(
Even if i am not really a fan of rock songs or whatever you call those genre musics they play, i still listen to the station when im in the mood. They have good music that i can sometimes relate to. Just like killer bee before, i really loved listening to it but when they reformatted it and made it more for the people "masa" as they call it, it was not to my liking anymore and never once stopped to listen in their station. I do hope the managements move will really improve their standing and the their avid listeners won't go to other stations. Hope they will still be airing good music..

I could say they are the only radio station that makes a lot of sense. Full of sensible DJs and it's really sad that they have to go because of the few listeners who appreciates them.
It really breaks my heart. =(

I went there a while ago... and the show of support is overwhelming. This is really sad news. NU107 inspired me to pick up a bass and start a playing in a band. If it weren't for NU, I wouldn't be where I am now.
The music lives on definitely. It boils in our blood. :)

Oh, it is so sad that they will say goodbye........
It has been many years that they were on the air.......
I hope the DJs will continue to be heard on air, even in other radio stations.....

This is sooo sad news! NU107 is the ONLY radio station i listen to. Others may say that radio stations should play a variety of music, including rotten pop...blah blah blah...But i believe that there should be stations which are "specialized" and cater to a certain crowd, just like jazz music stations. It's just upsetting that we won't have the smartest DJ's around anymore. These guys not only play good music but truly have very intelligent segments, and opinions from politics to religion and especially rock music. It really sucks that things are going mainstream, rockers are the smartest people in the world.

Well, a bad news. But I guess they will change for the better. They made my everyday complete but I hope they come back better. I will promise to promote them to my friends if ever they return. Thanks NU107!
