Needless to say, stress really is a part of our everyday life. It's one we face at work, home and even among friends. While it drives us to work a little harder in the short run, the long term effects of stress can be devastating. There is no way we can avoid it, so we might as well learn to manage it. I think one way to manage it well is to identify and address it on its first onslaught. Let's not allow stress to destroy us. As I found this link I'm glad that there are other tips for us to follow: http://lifestyle.xin.msn.com/en/health/wellbeing/article.aspx?cp-documentid=4433037 What are some ways you do to manage stress? Let's hear you guys.

I sleep! ;) it really helps me to clear my mind on things. When I am sad or mad, I do this to lessen the gravity of what im feeling.

Hi preppydezza! Sleep, yes that's a wonderful medicine. Sometimes the more stress I face the more difficult it is to sleep. I need to learn how to. Thank you for sharing!

I agree 100%. So many people let stress totally get to them! I like problem-solving and I enjoy having a busy schedule. If I feel a bit overwhelmed with a situation, I like to take a step back and break it down into several small tasks. That seems to help me de-stress or at least manage the stress. I don't know if that makes sense.

Hi maezee! Yes! it does. Thought that's a wonderful way to manage stress by breaking down a big workload into small manageable tasks, easily achievable and obviously stress-free. I love this idea of a 'task analysis'. I think it should help us to see a lot of things in managing stress well. You have been very realistic and practical. Thank you so much for sharing. Have a nice day!

Stress really can easily get to people, and if you don't try and deal with it then the stress will just get worse. I do agree with you. We need to try and manage it. One thing that helps me is doing some relaxation exercises, meditation, and things that. Whether I have a lot of stress or just a little, I'll do these things and when I'm done I feel a lot better.

there are times in our life when we feel like giving up things get rough and we can hardly handle the situation. at some point in life, ive encountered stressful events and threat to our ego and lost control on things. i think that everyone goes through it but it depends on how we handle the situation.

I was always told not to sweat the small stuff. If you look at most things in your life, you find that most falls into the small stuff categories. Right now I am stressing over how to pay some medical bills, when I have used up my savings due to a lower paying job. I always find information. Having information gives you power. With that information, make a plan, and stick to that plan, that helps to relieve the stress.

Hi asyria! I can relate to you actually. Sometimes I do just that: look out for info, written indication or a plan and apply it. It's as good if it works. Sometimes they do. Hope it does to you always. Thanks for sharing!

Right on the dot. It can be a motivator up to a point. Though it is a two-edged sword, which can cut both ways. I find that when the stress becomes more that I can handle, I drop whatever it is that is causing it; Be it a task at hand, A problem in my mind, or an ache in my heart, And re-assess the situation from a bystanders perspective. Besides taking that step, I know from experience that exercise and a healthy lifestyle does better in the long run then taking temporary ways to deal with stress. Try weightlifting. Engage in a sport, walk a forest path, hike. Prayer can and does wonders. just my two cents.

Hi knuckles! Your two cents worth a lot here! I enjoy reading your practical comment. You understand very well the effects of stress, take accurate assessment and able to take appropriate measures to conrol it before it gets worse. Your choice for a permanent solution as compared to a temporary one should go a long way in helping you cope better with stress in future. Love how you de-stress too. Simply walking a forest path is just as meaningful and helpful. Thank you for sharing.

i try to go to a beach and relax a little bit. the breeze makes me feel good and with the only sound coming from the lapping waves, it can get soothing too. if i bring a book,i try to read a little. but when i can't get to a beach, i just stay at home and listen to some soft music or watch a film or just read a book while lying down on my bed, these de-stresses me. sometimes when i'm not feeling too lazy, i try to do some stretching too, then lie down for a few minutes before going back to my work.

Hi zapatee! That's obviously a wonderful way to destress. I agree with you as I often leave my desks for the little garden around. And being with nature allows me to recharge before returning to my work. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful day!
