i really felt different when i started a discussion as compared to just replying to other's post. when i started a discussion, i feel the eagerness to check it from time to time just in case anybody responded to my post. sometimes, i am bored just replying to discussions i havent started. how about you, what's your feeling with regards to this matter?

i prefer to respond to discussions nowadays rather than starting a discussion... it is just when i start a discussion, i didn't get many responses and i can get really disappointed... but when i respond to discussions, i can learn new knowledge and even earn best response every now and then which motivate me to respond and earn more money here... take care and have a nice day...

i cant blame you in your case.. but i guess it also depends to what kind of posts you started. in order to have a lot of response, you should have posted interesting or helpful thread. on the other hand, responding to any posts is also a quick and fast way to share idea while earning. that is the reason why, i am not against your side. heheheh

Hi markleob: I feel really happy when I start a new discussion. In fact i think that I enjoy more starting a new discussion that just answering them but I try to think about the subject before starting a new discussions. For me this is a very important step because i don't want to start a discussion for the sake of it, it must be something that i really care for, that I want to discuss and also read the answers of my friends. yeah. me too, i also think first possible topic that would interest not only me but to the forum. who would comment if your post is not interesting? posting an interesting topic would entice fellow mylotters to comment as well. thus more chances of earning more if you only respond to every response.

in my way, i have the same feeling with you.you can see that there are something wrong with others' discussion, and the spelling mistakes. when i read these, i thought a question: are they just doing the task casually? so i think we should strong our abilities and we should put the thing in an important position.

Hi markleob, It can work either way.Either you can put across your point and post it.When you feel like discussing an event or anything like what ever is in your mind you can start discussion. when you are dry of topics it is better to respond to a discussion. This is my opinion. Cheers.

I think that it is a lot easier to respond others post, than to start a discussion. The only thing you should respond, is you own opinion. Compared with a discussion, here you need come with a subject, and hopefully something that everybody can answer on. And I think that it is hard sometimes.

I have to agree, responding to a discussion is easier. It has already been started and you can add what you think.

yeah, if you dont have much time to think what topics to start with, you better reply to discussions. in that way, you could share you ideas immediately.

I have started A LOT of discussions over the past bunch of years I've been on mylot but nothing compared to the amount of discussions I have responded to. I could easily have made plenty more discussions but you have to search first to make sure someone else hasent already asked that discussion. If they have then you have to comment on their discussion instead of creating your own. I find a lot more discussions to comment on then I can think up. I do love when I start a discussion responding back to the people who left me comments. That is fun to keep the discussion going.

Hi mark~ I happen to prefer responding to my friend's discussions. In fact, I don't remember when I last even started my own discussion, but I know it has been a very long time. I just feel that for me it is easier to reply. I have a hard time thinking up good topics and feel more comfortable just responding to topics. I guess everyone has their own ways of being on the site! Keep starting discussions and I'll keep responding!

Well for me, I only start discussions only when I've something interesting to share or when I've something to ask. I respond more here. When I start a discussion, I'll keep that window open and refresh after some 5 to 10 minutes so that when someone replies, I'll see it. Hmm...talking about this, I think it's high time Mylot should implement a 'live traffic' module here as in, when someone replies to our discussion, it'll immediately update so we don't need to refresh and refresh. I think it's a good idea.

It really depends what mood I am during the day. There are times where I have no ideas for topics. I am sure I could think of something given enough time but right now, its my MyLot time, so I have to contribute something. So I go right through the topics one by one and post my responses. I can fire off a decent number of responses given the proper motivation on the right day. Then there are days where I just don't feel like responding to anyone. I'm sure there are some good topics. In fact, I am completely positive that there are some good topics. However, these topics are just not something that are calling out to me during this day. So I just post my topics and then sit back, checking for responses every couple of hours and comment on them. Of course, I tend to go back and forth on this depending on the day.

yeah. i also understand if that is your side. if you just respond, you also have the chance to choose which topic interests you most and then key in your reply.

I do both and I enjoy doing both as well. It really feels nice when the discussions I posted were really interesting for others and garner a lot of response. I will now have a reason to earn more by posting comments to each of the responses by thanking them and also discuss regarding their concerns. I only respond to really interesting discussions such as this one. Thank you for this nice post.

wow thanks for the compliments. you are also correct with what you've said. i also love to participate in a good post wherein a lot of people are sharing their thoughts. however, there are posts that only have little response yet interests me. in that case, i also response.

For me both starting topic discussion and responses to other topic are my priority now. I'm glad to see if my topic discussion will increase the responses and excited to put another one, then responsing is the second one happy to share my response to other... but arguing about my topic will be next action because reason I posted such topic is to show that I know the topic... see you around

It is depend to your speciality either your good at to start or good at to response. Both is essential in building such nice discussion. By the way starter must be a creative and clever enough to start an interesting discussion in which it can trigger the interest of the other to response. Starting an interesting topic to discuss must be creative enough and must be unique to tickle the interest of the other. Usually those creative ones got lot of responses while those which are not creative they usually got low responses and those bored topic will usually evaporate in the air and gone for a couple of days. Creating an interesting topic to discuss can avoid boredom to the reader and making the reader enjoy as they response to that topic.
