Computers are very useful in so many ways, there is no doubt about that. Especially at this computer age where almost everything is automated.Hardly there is anything today the computers cannot do. The advantages are so numerous to mention to the extent that, the computers have brought comfort to both living and non-living things.
However, if we look at some of the dangers of being computer literate, like defrauding people of their belongings, job replacements, excessive radiation and many more; One might prefer to be computer illiterate. In this case, I believe that it is not too bad to be computer illiterate or what do you say?

Being Computer illiterate in this era might not be good on anybody but it also depend on age, I would not be hard on old people to learn about Computer as this will be demanding on their side, but the dot com generation we have no option but to learn about Computers, Learning about Computers itself is fun and you will have many advantages by doing things on your own rather than depending on computer literate people, you will also save time when you are computer literate buy doing task yourself

Today there are many things that you can't do without a computer. I used to get a snail mail letters with information about my salary, now those letters are a things of the past, and you have to log into your account and find the information online. If you can't use computers or the internet you simply don't have access to information. It is a not a choice - it literary the only way to find it. The same thing has happened in other situations, and it has become more and more difficult to live without a basic computer knowledge.

I was born in the middle of tke last century and I saw how the computers invaded our everyday life. When I got my job as a journalist at 1993 there were no computers in the newsroom. Now I wouldn't have a chance to work if I was computer illiterate. So it's not a question of preference now, we have no choice :)

Illiteracy is not a bad thing. It is the result of illiteracy that is bad for you. Especially if you don't know how to read, which will be dangerous to you if you will take medicine without supervision or help of others. As to computer illiteracy, it is not bad at all. Ye, it has many advantages as we are in the modern world were in almost everything is run or manage by computer. Computer illiteracy is sometimes an asset to you for example you will not be addicted to the games it has, you will not spend all your time in surfing the net, thus making you more available to do other things that you like. But I am not saying that it is okay to be computer illiterate, if you have the opportunity to learn how to use a computer it is wise to grab that opportunity. Computer is a helpful tool for us as long as we are utilizing it wisely and in a good way.

Any modern development, along with its lot of benefits, brings with it certain disadvantages. You have got to take good with he bad. You can not give up flying or super fast railways just because an accident there is a certain disaster and kills hundreds at a stretch. Computer along with the internet is one such modern development which brings to the mankind vast knowledge in the comfort of their homes. We can not discredit the computers or internet just because some people prefer to use it to make a fast buck by scamming or by selling unwanted things.

At this point of humanity moving forward to the cyber age, I would have to say that being knowledgeable in computers may definitely be necessity since most offices, businesses and establishment now utilizes computers. Even our mails have become computerized through emails. Computers have become part of human lives nowadays and have become a very important role in everyday life.
Honestly one does not really need to be very knowledgeable in computers. Havign enough skills to do basic operations will already suffice.
