Jobs for people who can only use their voice. What ones can you think of?

My friend wants to work. Despite being 100% disabled, she was fighting back the tears and said, "All they'll let me do is talk. What can I do for a living?" I thought of a couple of things then, but when put on the spot, it's hard to come up with a list of things. Later on, I thought of more. But I keep feeling like I've missed some. What ones would you tell a friend who can only talk? To me that's the best thing and the most powerful of abilities, but I'm a talker. She's more of a doer. This is driving her crazy. Thanks and take care.

She can get a job at the place that records the info on the diabetis gizmos. She could do children's stories on audio. She could do customer service jobs that call people with asked for information. She could do audio instructional CD's too. And on some sites they have women introducing the site.

Instructional CDs is one I hadn't thought of. I don't know about the records the info on the diabetes gizmos. Most people with diabetes where I am record their own. My brother with a 60 IQ evem records his own in a book. He can write a number down.So that I've never heard of.

I've just seen them in the commercials but they say something about and now you don't have .......something and it tells you what your level is.

That stinks, because I am like that too, a doer, not a talker..Can she type? I don't know about some of these sites where you write stories or articles, maybe something like that can help. A even better job, but takes some training is transcriber. But like I said, that may cost to get the training to be able to do this..

Oh that really stinks..Though I have stories in my head, as you know, dancing is my stress reliever and fun time activity. I can't imagine going from an active lifestyle to none, I feel for your friend..

She is not cleared for typing and she can only do that for very short periods of time before it becomes excrusiatingly painful. She's only cleared to talk. Pain radiates from her spine outward with most movements. So for a few minutes she can do it before the pain sets in again. I think Dragon Speaking where she talks and the computer types would help her out immensely. I can ask her if she's into writing, but I don't think she is. She's a jock type of person. Her first degree was in Phys. Ed. The 2nd was in Administration. So the first is minimal paperwork and the second is technical and school principal related. But she might do some writing for relaxation.

Wow! I didn't know about that. That's a cool idea. Esp. if she did get credits and a job from it, that would be cool.

I did recommend that one. She would need some modifications. Headset, lightweight, and hands free as well as the screen up higher so she doesn't have to move her head.

she can work as a call center agent ^^ jobs where she only needs to talk on the phone is ok for her to do. also she can work online right? she can type right? if she cant is ok. but a call center agent she can be. also some people like those jobs as call center^^ but she will have to take some rude people talking with her on the phone. but at least she will feel better if she really wants to work^^ the best for her and you are sweet by worrying with her^^

I'm going to ask her if she needs Dragon Naturally Speaking or if she can type without pain.

well done to your friend for wanting to be pro. active. she could do voice overs on adverts or work as an anouncer. she could read books and tape them for children . she could read newspapers for the blind. she could set up her own radio station or utube slot and talk of her life experiences. she could sing and get her message 'out there'. she could work answering the telephone from home. hope these few things help. god bless you both.

I had thought of some of those later on, but in a different way like books on tape, but I think she would like children's books better since she was a fellow children's teacher. Hadn't thought of own radio station or own time slot, now that is awesome! Also hadn't thought of utube, I think in the future, when this is all down the road, she would be good on utube to explain her situation to help others in the future. I will give her those. I think it would be hard for her to be on utube right now. Some people who respond on utube are mean and others are sick from what I've read underneath some videos. So you have to be tough and less vulnerable than she is right now. But it is a great idea for the future. Thanks for all the great ideas!

You had voice over the first time. I don't think she knows another language for translation. I did recommend that she learn to read sign language so she could speak for the deaf.
