Hello everyone.I am just curious about what ages others took their children off of the bottle and put them on a sippy cup?My friend has took her son off the bottle and he is only 10 months.I feel like that was way to early but I guess everyone has different ways of parenting.I am just curious as to what other mothers have done or what other people think is the right time to do so?

when my daughter was done with formula she was done with bottle so about 15 months as my doctor wanted to keep her on it for a few extra month because she was 11 weeks early. I hated washing bottles and we only ever used them for formula if she got anything else it was in a sippy cup. So she already knew how to use a sippy cup when she switched over to drinking regular milk. She is three now and she uses a straw up during the day just so she can have it with her. At dinner she uses a regular cup.

I started weening my son from the bottle when he was about 10-11 months old, but he only received his final bottle on the day before he turned a year old. I started exposing him to a sippy cup as soon as he was able to start holding on to things and that way he was able to use it well by the time that he was a year old. With my daughter, she had her bottle later into her life and we actually had a heck of a time getting her off of the bottle.

My son is 9 months old, and I have been trying to get him onto a sippy cup since 5 months old. Our health visitor has been pushing to have him on a cup since 4 months of age. We have now been recommened one of the nuby cups or bottles and with that having a soft silicone like spout I am more hopefull that he will take to it. At least it should shut our health visitor up once he finally is happy in changing over to a cup or bottle

With both of my daughters I started introducing a sippy cup at about 5 1/2 months. By 6-61/2 months they both were done with the bottle. At a year their doctor asked whether or not they still used a bottle, and was very happy to hear they had already transitioned to a cup. Everyone I know has done it at different times. I always suggest to friends who ask that you introduce it and see how your child takes to it. As soon as they are comfortable with it, it's time to do away with the bottles. And if you do it before there is a huge attachment issue it is much easier I think. My friends who have waited until 1 1/2 have said that their children had a hard time giving up their bottles, but maybe that is just their kids.

Hi! I know that feeding from mothers's milk is good for babies upto 2 years of age. And i guess, for bottle feeding infants its the same. I have read from an article that you can start weaning your baby/child from bottle to cups at the age of 2 because they have better control of holding the cups. I also think that babies need milk since this is their staple food and main source of nutrition even if solids are introduced at the age of 6months. I guess it all depends on the parent's style and the child's ability as well.
