In which ways can you learn things better, by lecture or by reading? I heard in a 'study' that people tend to remember things better when they are felt through emotion, therefor, even when we are studying, we can remember things better if we get some type of 'connection' with the facts that we are learning.
Have any tips helping this happen?

"Don't be afraid to fail"
- I think the above saying is very much necessary to become smarter.
Trying new things, Travelling, Reading, learning from others, Analyzing all the options available when we are in a pressure, etc., are the things which makes anyone to become smarter.
There is also another option available to learn on how to become smarter..
i.e., Hanging around with winners.
By doing this, we can have an insight and gain knowledge from them.
Happy Postings!

Best way to learn anything is not just by learning the thing yourself but also by helping others to learn the same thing.
To learn something what you need mainly is enthusiasm. With enthusiasm one cannot learn anything. "Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm," said Sir Winston Churchill.
In learning it is important for one to learn from his mistakes one makes in the past and, then unlearns it to further and move forward.
In learning the biggest snag is that we tend to forget. We forget due to lack of interest, lack of understanding the concept, mind gets dull due to disuse, keeping the mind preoccupied with necessary and unnecessary things. Mental tension is another cause.
To learn one must identify the purpose of learning, get thorough understanding of information, build a strong background, avoid mental overcrowding and determination, and Make a note of whatever you have leaned. It is also necessary to exercise the mind to keep it fit.

In my experience, I learn better if I read it first. I just get other ideas from lectures. I don't get to learn from discussions because it is sometimes slow. I want a smooth discussion since my brain works fast. I don't mean to brag but that's the truth. I get confused if it keeps on repeating because my other classmates need to have it discussed all over again. That's why I want to learn it on my own. I do some research too. That's the best way. Because not all what the lecturer say are true. They might make a mistake. So it is advised to look it up in the book.

I like to learn, but i cant always remember what i hear in class. so i take notes and re writ questions onto recipe cards. (question on the front, answer on the back), then i go buy a big bag of something a love like chips, chocolates or smarties. then i quiz myself, for every answer i get right i reward myself with a goodie.
BE WARNED, THIS DOES TAKE ALOT OF SELF DISCIPLINE :P
Good luck young grasshopper.

It will definitely start with enthusiasm. If somebody will just learn for the sake of learning without letting them know what benefits they will get for learning those things then definitely it will be hard for them. That will be the greatest connection between the person and the subject to be learned.

For me, its kinda different. I prefer going through the study material before I could attend the lecture, that ways it becomes easy for me to comprehend and it all makes sense.

I believe that the best way to learn something is by experience. We cannot fully understand something unless we experience it ourselves. The second best method for me is reading. At lectures there are a lot of hindrances in learning, like the voice of the speaker and the way he speaks, noise and other distractions but in reading your attention can be full.

i can learn things by lecture and when we get practical examples we can remember for long time because learning by practical is the most efficient manner. by reading we can remember but it is for some time only. if read frequently means we can remember long time. by understanding we can remember long time these three things are important to learning anything.

Actually it depends all in one's style. So it's better to know yourself first. Some prefer this kind of strategy others do differently. In my case, I learn things better by reading then seeing pictures of them. I am a visual type of person so it's better to have a good look of what I am studying. For example If i'm studying about anatomy of human body, it really helps to have photos of it. However, I do also learn thru lectures because it helps me to understand topics which I find complicated or difficult.

If you really want to remember what you learned than you can it's up to you. If you don't find a topic interesting than it's more likely you wont remember it. This is like when you're watching TV, you can remember almost every scene of you favorite show. So find way to make learning interesting, like watching lessons online.
