I admit it. I am a self-confessed Facebook junkie/addict. The longest I can go without checking Facebook is an average of 2 hours. I check on my phone even when I'm shopping. I know, it's crazy, right? What about you? How long can you go without checking Facebook?

I'm just hoping I will get to the point that I won't get excited about it anymore to curb my addiction.

When i first startd on Facebook i would go there every day.Now that i've been a member for a few months i don't go there as often, maybe once or teice a week.To tell you the truth, i find it a little boring.Besides talking to friends i have there and checking their status,i really see no point to it. Although i must say i do play the various games sponsored by Facebook such as Bejeweled Blitz and Petville, but i wouldn't consider this being on the website itself.

Thanks for your comment, jujunme. The more I read about comments like yours, the more I think that I should be really doing something else more valuable than my habitual and useless checking of Facebook. People like you have definitely enlightened me.

Personally Facebook is a site I spend a lot of time on as well. Between trying to promote my Business ventures, talking with friends, meeting New people and keeping up with the Games I am playing, it is one of the sites I find myself spending a lot of time in even when my time is limited.

Hi KrauseHome, I guess there's nothing wrong with spending much time on Facebook for as long as you're productive and it doesn't really affect your time management. If used the right way, I think Facebook is a good tool for purposes like promoting one's business, networking, etc.

I don't know it depends on who i'm trying to keep in touch with, my daughter in Md, my other daughter in college, my son in Pa. and/or my family [mom & sisters] back in DC.

Oftentimes I wish I had kept my Facebook for that purpose only: to communicate with my loved ones. But I have too many "friends" now, and around 100 pending requests. It's getting out of control.

Honestly, I just closed my facebook where I had all my friends (I knew them all about 250) and I made a new one so far with only 20 friends (just made it a day ago) and I am just now adding/accepting people that I am close with because I don't want other people knowing my personal life (that I know of but not close). I have went a month without using my facebook :) Quite proud of myself.

That's actually a brilliant idea, and I'm considering doing it myself. Start anew. And this time, I will be very careful with the friends I let into my network. Thanks for your reply.

Hi Theredquill
I am also addicted to Facebook and I always remain online over there, even I am working on myLot, I still keep open my Facebook account.
The longest time with out checking my account was 24 hours, because of unavailability of internet but I always check my account after one or two hours.
Be Happy and be the reason of Happiness in others life....

Oh, so we are on the same boat. But in my case, I guess it's too much already. I want to tone my addiction down, if possible.

Can't agree more. At least, surfing MyLot is more productive.

For me, I am playing games on Facebook and I am addicted to Facebook due to these games like farmville and mafia, but from last two weeks, I am not playing those games, they are not giving any thing to me, just wasting of time, the time which I spend in to play games on Facebook, is now directed to myLot and due to this I am getting new ideas and beside this it is giving me some money too...
So I think instead of Facebook we should surf our time in some constructive sites like myLot
Be happy and be the reason of happiness in others life...

Ha. I don't even have a facebook anymore. I got one for a while and there is so much drama and people always wanting to be in your business so I just decided to delete it. I have much better things I can do with my time.

You can say that again: too much drama. There was one point, actually, that I was tempted to deactivate my account, but I am living miles away from home now and it's the easiest way to communicate with family and friends.

I can go weeks without going on facebook,as i have got really bored of it and i find that there are not as many people on there as there use to be,mind you i see that alot of them are on here rather than on there.I think that people are also putting nasty status up about people as well as people trying to cause arguments with other people on there.

How I'd love to be in your situation right now. The addiction is getting hold of me. But I really want to get rid of it, and not let it take up most of my time. You're right, MyLot is a better option.

How I wish I can stop myself from constantly checking Facebook. And I don't even do anything there. Just look at people's walls and browse their photos. Nothing productive, really. Sigh...

At least you have a good and productive reason to use Facebook all the time. It is for a good purpose.

You are lucky in that aspect then. You don't have to succumb to the addictive jaws of Facebook.

Thanks for not judging me, dearie. But I really have to do something about it. I am too hooked and I don't like it when I'm too obsessed with something.

I don't go on it everyday... or at least not most of the time. It depends if a friend has asked me to go on to speak to them and we are both free. I will go on to play the odd game and to add photos aswell as update my status sometimes but thats about it.

The thing is, I don't even play games there. All I do is, although I don't really want to admit this, is "stalking" my friends there.

Not really an addict so I can go for weeks without checking my account. Sometimes my friends have to force me to open my account especially when they have just uploaded pictures. But my BFF is an addict and she refuses to acknowledge it. Once, we were going home from the province to the city. She was checking FB while the car was moving even though she got disconnected every few seconds. I called her on it and she denied it.

Ah I can totally relate with your friend. And like her, I sometimes refuse to admit my addiction. But reading the comments here, I think I will have to lessen my Facebook obsession, if not stop it. Thanks for your comment, friend.

Well, i think i can go on with out facebook for a life time, im not to addicted to it, but since it is there and most of the time i always in front of the computer ( i think 60 % of my day is spent in front of the computer ) so i often check it out. The longest time that i not access facebook is a week, that is because i have a bussiness trip outside the city, and i am to lazy to access facebook from mobile phone.

The more I read comments like yours, the more I think that it's no longer normal what I'm doing. I will now will myself to get off it for a week, and see how it goes. Thanks for your reply.

Well, i think it is normal to got addicted to facebook. But i don't think it will last long. I also at first, really addicted to facebook, but as time goes by, and with the increasing job and things to do, facebook start to become unimportant. You don;t need to not use it for a while since not use it will make you want to use it more and more. Just use it normally. Some day you will reach a bored point, where facebook seems not that interesting anymore.

The longest possible time I think would be one week. Beyond one week I get easily irritated.

My dear, I like it when you say you "get easily irritated". Hahaha! I am just like that. It's like not being able to eat when you're hungry.

Wow, I envy you. I wish I can do that. But at the rate I'm going, I guess even on a holiday in Tibet or Timbuktu, I would still find a way to check Facebook. How pathetic is that? I think I need professional help.
