Does taking hot or cold really baths contribute something to weight loss?

Before I heard a claim that drinking cold water makes a very very little contribution to weight loss. It says that your body works a little harder warming down the cold water in your tummy so you burn a little more calories when that happens. The claim also applies for hot water(body works extra cooling it down). I figured this could also apply for bathing, since if your body temperature changes then your body works extra to keep it normal. Is there someone who can make a much clearer and precise statement about this topic? :D

yes! is true drinking water can contribute in weight loss if is use properly, according to fitness expert Hugo Rivera, a certified ISSA, right time to drink cold water is after you workout and avoid drinking cold water after eating fatty foods, but when bathing cold or water, all know is it helps your relax your muscles and detox your body if your some detoxification oils

Interesting, thank you for your response! Also, since you mentioned not drinking water after eating fatty foods, let me just add that if you do so, the fats will be hardened by the cold water and eventually become toxic for your body, so a big NO to drinking cold water after fatty foods :)

Not so much about weight, but for men, you are well advised to take a cold bath, it helps quite a lot in sperm production, warm waters could reduce your sperm count very dramatically

Oh no, but it has been very cold lately. You think the cool weather could help the sperm count recuperate?

I've also heard a similar thing, I've read it online once before. Your body has to burn more calories to warm you back up. I don't think it's that significant of a difference, though, in calories, and I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to take a cold bath. That just seems very uncomfortable. I'd rather hit the gym for an hour a day than have to take a cold bath every day... Brrr!

I heard a lot said about this, and the responses to this are true! I can't stand drinking cold water while eating. I do yoga as much as I can, and boy what a work out that is every time! I shower in cold water almost immediately and it really helps! I don't wake up the next morning sore :)

Read in Men's Health Magazine that it does!! So I always convince myself that it HAS to be done! Regulating your body temperature of course takes energy, so I would generally assume that cold showers do help burn calories! But then again, why don't people then walk around without coats in winter, just for the extra benefit in weight loss..? Maybe we should start the trend! =D Would love to hear someone with facts about it!

Drinking cold water does help in your weight loss, but I don't know anything about taking a cold bath. In theory It should work, I will try it out and see what happens. But this might be a good idea.

Well, yeah it does help force your body to burn more calories by regulating your body temperature. Hot water also helps in cleansing the digestive system. There is nothing to lose also.
