Most people I know cannot sleep with light turn on but actually it's all in the mind, we can sleep even with light turn on, It's just that we were used to sleep without and our mind was set that we can't sleep with light turn on.It's just slightly disturbing for us to sleep in that way. However if are very sleepy no matter what kind of situation you can fall asleep. In my case I always fall asleep while riding in a bus bus or jeepney, I know it was such strange that I find it easier to sleep in vehicles even I am not sleepy than lying in bed. I just observed that once I lied down in bed my sleepiness gone. I don't know maybe because I have sleeping disorder and I have sleeping hours more on daytime than night time. About the question I asked above, I can't sleep with lights turn on unless I was very tired too sleepy. How bout you Can you sleep with lights turn on? What are the factors affecting your sleep? Do you have sleep disorder?

I have horrible sleep habits. I usually don't sleep more than 3-4 hours at a time. I prefer sleeping during the day as I seem to sleep beter. I prefer sleeping with a bit of light, though from what I have read, it is healthier to sleep in the dark because our bodies make something that fights disease when we sleep in complete darkness.

My answer to your question is yes. I do not turn off my lights when I am sleeping. It is because I always had a bad dreams whenever I sleep while the lights are turn off. Some factors that affects once sleep are: if you are thinking of problems when you are about to sleep, stress is another one, over excitement also, no peace of mind and many others. Yes, sometime am having sleeping disorder especially if you are working on a shifting hours. It's hard to adjust your sleeping time that is why you are having a sleeping disorder.

I am one of those people who can sleep anytime anywhere. It doesn't matter if its dark or light, day or night. I can sleep in a vehicle, sitting on a couch, or even playing on the computer. I see nothing wrong with this but I do feel a person gets better rest if they are laying in a bed and it is dark. I think its to each its own type a thing.

I rarely sleep with the lights on, depends on how tranquil the surrounding is.. Noise is a big factor rather than the light. but i do sleep soundly when i do fall asleep. I think lights off induces sleep better as it helps relaxes the eyes with accommodation of light.

i can sleep during travelling, while riding jeep or bus or train sometimes, but it's just a way to relax my eyes. and it's like a nap, sometimes. i also tried sleeping during daytime where my room was lighted from sunlight outside. i can sleep with light but still i want to sleep with the lights off. that is because we need to rest our eyes and for them to relax,we need to have total darkness. but it's still up to us,which way we really want to sleep. we should also consider conserving energy as well.

You can sleep with light turn on if you are really tired enough and feel need of asleep. Asleep is one of the basic needs of living being. This makes the mind fresh and work able. You can sleep every where in every situation. Some people could not sleep with out light turn on and some could not sleep without light turn off. This depends on the habit of the people. I can not sleep well when light turn on since the age of my child hood. But I noticed that I can not spare me without having a sleep if I am extremely tired or I have not completed the asleep. I remember I was sleeping during my flight to Singapore; this was due to having no rest during my visit to different places. Light was not disturbing me. It means light has no matter in sleeping of some one.

It's really hard to sleep when the lights is on specially during your first day or first week but when you do it many times you sleep with lights and when you start doing like that at your early age you can't sleep without lights.
I am used to sleep without lights when I was in the Philippines before but after I arrived here in Saudi Arabia I did to sleep everyday with lights on. No worries about electricity bill because it's all free from my company.
Now, our lights is always on even our aircon also 24 hours on.

I can fall asleep with the lights on, the television on, while reading or being read to. If I'm tired enough, the situation doesn't matter.

i can sleep with light on or off. it does not really matter for me to get sleep with it. all that can't make me sleep is if there was a disaster in my area or if there is something that bother my mind.
i don't have sleep disorder except if i get work overwhelmed.

Hello lol i don't have any sleeipng disorder, my parents always said, 'going to bed early and getting up early is always a good'; but if one keeps awake till late night, it is not possible to get up early morning..
Normally i go to bed by 10pm and get up between 5-6am depending upon weather..
There is no need to use a powerful light while sleeping, i use a very dim light, can't sleep in total darkness ..
Thank you so much for this nice discussion.
Professor. . Cheers have a great day ahead.
God bless you. Welcome always.

When I am tired I can sleep under any circumstances - Lights on or off, TV on or off, music playing. I have no trouble falling asleep but I have a problem staying asleep. I usually have to go to the bathroom once or twice during the night.

hi mayrah I like a dark room with some sort of safety night light as i am afraid of a bad fall at my age. I had a terrivle fall three years ago resulting in a smashed shoulder and having to have a shoulder joint
replacement. I have lost a lot of use of my left arm from that fall even tough I had a lot of physical theraphy done on it.I have to get up several times during thenight to go potty so must have a night light to show me the pathway. I do not know if I have a sleep disorder or not.

It depends on whether I am very tired or not. I can remember several times when I have awakened in the morning with a book at my side and the light still on. And there are nights after have seen a scarey movie that leaving the light seems the smartest way to go. And there are always candles left glowing in the night.

Hi mayrah! I can't sleep unless it is absolutely pitch black
and totally quiet, unless it is noise from a fan. I can't
have any light coming in the room or sounds. I already have
Insomnia so it is very difficult for me to fall asleep. I
tend to stay up sometimes all night and don't go to sleep
until the early hours of the morning. It is now 2:15AM Sunday.
I had a very busy day and was really tired and tried to go
to sleep two hours ago. I finally got up out of bed and came
here to mylot which I usually do when I can't fall asleep!

I prefer to sleep in the dark, but if I'm really tired I can sleep even with the lights on and enjoy every minute of it. I fall asleep in all sorts of weird places if I'm tired enough. But even if I'm not tired I fall asleep if I'm in my boyfriend's arms. He makes me cozy.
