French fries is one of my favorite foods. I like them with sauce(tomato). But my doc. has advised me not to take them, in fact any kind of fried dishes are on black list. I think you can guess why this kind of instruction? Yes because of my obesity. But friends really I am missing many dishes and French fries too. Does there is any way to cook French fries so that I don't gain fat.

I would suggest making them yourself, as someone else has suggested, or getting them from the store frozen, adding no salt and not using much ketchup if any at all if you can help it. French Fries are a delicious treat, hard to pass up.

Hi. paulbankonline. I think that you should choose an oil that is canola oil. That is what I fry all of my foods in. This type of oil is very healthy and good for the body. It keeps Cholesterol levels down as well. You should try using this oil, I hope that it makes your french fries turn out healthy.

I agree with your response, baking is an ideal method to cook fries, at least it is cooked with less oil and low fat.

I don't really know if there is a way to cook them without gaining weight. You could cut up your own potatoes and bake them. But they're not really what I would call french fries but they might come close enough for you.

try to substitute regular potato to sweet potato, i'm quite sure with the test, but some dietians recommend using of extra virgin oil when frying, and when are eating high glycemic carbs make sure you have equivalent of fiber with carbs you have eaten..

oh thats simple you can bake the french fries and to get them crunchy like you would when you fry them you just have to use a high heat on the oven.like 400 plus degress and season with garlic salt and onion powder.

how about you make your own chips at home. Get a potatoe peel them and cut them into slices yourself to make your own. Then instead of cooking them in a frying pan with oil put them in the oven then cook them. This might help as you are not actually using any oil so the fat content will be reduced.
