Hello dog lovers, we have three dogs. Namely, Akira, Aiko and Bunso. Two of them almost grew up together (Akira and Aiko) though they are not biologically siblings. The other one, Bunso, just came in late after four months ( I guess..).
We have no problem at first (of these three) because they all understand each other well as they grow more into their maturity.
My problem started when Akira got pregnant. As we are waiting for her exact delivery period (next month), she become so irritable and very moody. In fact, she never like anymore Aiko. She keep on mauling Aiko that both of them got so many bruises and deep wounds.
We are wondering why Akira keeps hating and had fight with Aiko almost always but not Bunso?
My questions are:
Is this normal to every pregnant dog in a group?
Why she permanently hate just one of them and not to some others?
Is this attitude would be gone after her delivery? or remains forever?
Is is safe to take a bath lactating dog?How often?
Your ideas and suggestions are highly appreciated...
Thanks.

Hello eloime..maybe you're right then..but maybe there must be one good reason why it happened when Akira is already a month pregnant? I will have to check for some ideas below..Thanks anyway for responding...

I really don't know much about dogs. I have had more cats than dogs, and I noticed the male liked the one female better than the other. It was never so bad that she had any wounds though. Probably after she has her litter she will go back to her original personality. I would try and keep the dog she fights with away from her litter though, as she might still fight with him to protect the pups.

Most female dogs like to be alone more when they are expecting a litter. Why she is picking on one and not the other, who knows, if she could tell u she would. Is he the father? Any ways she wants to be left alone alot.
Is it safe for a pregnant woman to take a bath? Give the dog a bath as needed.

Akira is the pregnant one, Bunso is the father and Aiko is the least of them all.
If you would see the three, Aiko is the least and never be the threat of the pregnant.
Anyway, only Akira know her feelings towards Aiko...
Thanks for responding anyway..I appreciate it..

in my pic, the dog on the left is the father of dog on the right. When the one on the rights mother was pregnant, the mother didn't want the father around her..

I remember when I was pregnant! I would say it's normal in the last portions of the pregnacy! lol! Seriously it is probably normal however, it probably won't get better once she delivers as then she will feel she needs to protect the pups!

Hi! Yes, it's normal. Sometimes a pregnant dog can get moody too. It all depends if she will act the same or not. You have to know who's the boss among them 3 and whoever is the lower rank, she/ he will get scolded first if fight starts. When you feed or greet or play with them it has to be in ranking, so they won't fight. Yes, it's safe to bathe the dogs even if they are pregnant. Also, you have to separate the two who are fighting because if they are already hurting each other, it's not healthy for them and their pups. Good luck. Hope you have lots of puppies.

Hi there! I am a dog lover like you but I'm no expert on this. I have also asked my fiance's opinion and he said that it is normal for a pregnant dog to be irritable around other dogs altho she has been with that dog for a long time. It's just because she is pregnant that's all there is. She is, like pregnant women, easily irritable and having these hormonal changes inside her. Probably best to keep the other dogs a few meters apart from her. I believe it will disappear after she's had her pups and the other dogs can come near and play with her again. I don't think it is a good idea to give her a bath yet but you do need to ask the vet about it. :)

hello Martin,
I am not a dog experts, but we love dogs and like i said in your other topic, our dog just gave birth recently.
Well,i count a month before i bath the mother dog and for the puppies,2 months or depends on their growth (must be healthy)
I never encountered fightings with my dog (really, our dogs don't fight even with feeding time it happens very rare and not hurting each other, just the roaring sounds no action taken )
So,i don't know why it happens to your dogs.
But don't worry,it's normal.
I can only advice you to spray water when dogs starts fighting,it will ease the fight.
My youngest son always do that when he sees dog fighting outside our gate.
He will shoot the fighting dogs with water from the hose (almost in full blast)hahaha.
Nice to see you again dear amigo...enjoying holiday huh?

I don't know much about dogs in groups but when my bully dog was pregnant she did get more territorial and vicious towards those she thought were a threat to her coming pups and it did not stop until they were about a month old. Maybe your dog is just protecting herself from what she thinks may be a threat to her pups when they are born so she is establishing her territory now. It might be that she only sees this one dog as a threat to the future safety of her pups. Just a thought but it may be a doggie form of nesting and getting ready for her pups if she is that close to giving birth. Good luck.

Akira is the pregnant, Aiko is female and we have one male dog named Bunso.
I was wondering why Akira never touch or get mad with the male one, unlike Aiko which she keeps on fighting..
Aiko is the least of the three, and never a threat with Akira, Bunso would just be a possible because he is bigger of the three..
Anyway I got some idea of what you said..thanks for that very informative respond..
I appreciate it..
