From primary up to secondary level, there was only a little presence of technology on our school. Well, we just have television and casettes to help us in our learning.
We do have computer subjects but the use of computer is not for everyone. Most of the time it is for limited number of students only. I studied in a public school and we are very late when it comes to technology.
When I was in college, I already experience how to use a computer. We have an audio visual room where we do our presentations. We have there one overhead projector exclusively for audio visual room use only. We also have the whiteboards that replaced the traditional boards that we have when I was on my primary and secondary level.
I am teaching now and just like what I had experienced during my elementary and secondary years, little technology is being used. I have a netbook but I cannot present my work on overhead projector because we don't have one. I am also studying for a Master's Degree in Technology and I am really amazed how high-tech other universities and schools are. I hope someday, public schools will also be like that.
How about you? What are/was the technologies being integrated in your education?

well, yeah, we have computers at school growing up. during elementary though, computer's mostly just used for typing. during computer subjects, we would always sneak playing games while the teacher's out. then in high school, we have internet. but it wasn't as accessible as it was. whenever i have to do a report, my auntie would always help me research online and print a lot of stuff so i'd have a good paper. in college, internet was really useful. most of the times, we only did our research online. we also have projectors, a good movie room and laptops are available for presentations.

My first brush with technology was in college already. Computer was merely an elective in our high school, and it was introduced in my fourth year, just as I was graduating. At that time, computers were still expensive, and my high school had only about 20 computers for about 1500 students. When I was in third year college, my father bought me my very first desktop, and from then on, I was hooked on technology. I was the first one in my family to have owned a computer, and I was always the first one with the latest technology since then - pagers, mobiles, laptops etc. During summers I would study computers and I remember we use to have this huge machines. Now, everything is again getting smaller and smaller.
Like you, I want every student to be conversant with computer - a one computer per student ratio. We are hurtling towards the 21st century where technology will be king and I want the future generation to be ready.

I didnt experience much technology back then too. When I was in elementary all we had was tv and radio, in high school we have computers too but running in Dos and Wordstar. (I was not very interested in black screens so I didnt bother to learn :D) In college thats when I had experience in MS Windows ,colorful screens which made me got interested in computers, too bad I'm already enrolled in accountancy.
