Have you ever been in the hospital, if so why? I have been in the hospital a couple times. I was in the hospital when I was two years old I had a bladder infection they had to replace some tubes I don't remember all they did because I was young. The other time I was in the hospital was when I was 10 I got my tonsils taken out and that was horrible because after I got out of the hospital I didn't listen to the doctor and started jumping around and I had to go back to the hospital and get my throat cortroized it hurt so bad because he didn't even numb me. The last time I was in the hospital was due to a kideny infection. I went to the emercency room and they addimitted me saying that I needed to stay because I had a very bad kidney infection. I was in the hospital for three days and my husband was so worried about me. They had me on morphin for the pain and I ended up dieing on the table for a few mintues I scared everyone. I never want to have to stay in the hospital again because its really scary.

The last time I was in a hospital was for an appendectomy. That was back when I was in university. My stomach was hurting so I went to the campus infirmary. After the doctor examined me, they called in an ambulance for a ride to the big city hospital.
The best part of that experience was the ride. The sirens were blaring on the ambulance and when we got into traffic, people would look in. I could see them looking in, and I would wave.

I have been in the hospital almost everyday. I am working in the hospital as a nurse. I witness many patients scenario; a cancer patient suffered from pain and wasn't relieved by a pain reliever, a depressed man whose leg was amputated because of diabetes, pregnant woman who is crying of pain in labor, a child whose leg was broken, a teenage boy who was stabbed on his chest, all of this patients were cared by us.

I am thankful to say that i am only been in the hospital during my two pregnancies. I would love to be able to keep it that way. The only other times I have bben in the hospital would be to visit someone who was a patient there. Hospitals are not the ideal place to have to spend your time unless you work there.

i'm sure everyone hates to be in the hospital. i've been to the hospital only a handful of times, all of them when i was a kid. the first that i remember was for an operation to remove pile. i was very young then so i hardly remember anything except going in for the operation, the doctor sedating me after which i dizzily passed out. i was still feeling very dizzy and felt very uncomfortable after regaining my senses. i think i visited the hospital a few times due to the pile case only, don't remember whether they were before or after the operation.
then in october 1994 i had to take Impicillin injections for several days due to infection and puss formation in several places around my butt. i passed out while taking the injection one day and so i was taken to the hospital. i returned the same evening without nothing serious though.
my last major stint at a hospital was from 1st-6th december, 1996, in our school hospital. i don't remember what kind of illness it was as i developed fever accompanied with vomits and loss of appetite. after i was discharged, i lost weight considerably and became a lot thinner. my friends were surprised to see me that way as i had an athletically-built body because i played soccer daily with great interest.
haven't been to the hospital since for any serious illness or injury.

Yep; I've been to the ospital plenty of times. Mostly it's been for other familiy members being sick (unfortunately), but twice it was because of things that had happened to me. Once I bruised my pinky finger pretty badly and had to go to the hospital, and then another time I had a 106 degree fever and my mom took me to the emergency. Nothing amazingly serious, but still. I'm not a big fan of the hospital. Although I'm not scared of it, it's not a very pleasant place to be.

It is bad to stay in hospital. I have been to hospital twice. The first time is when my child was born. I stayed in the hospital for a week. The second time is for an operation. I also stayed there for about a week. I never want to go there again. The good health is so important.

It been quite a long time ago as i could remember i am 8 7 years old and have a convulsion because of high fever due to typhoid. I only hospitalized once that is during childhood in the present I rarely occur. I have sort of illnesses but usually just end up as out patient so their is no need to be in hospital. Those family member who are always the client of hospital is my father cause he have stroke twice and need to be in hospital for more than a week also have pneumonia and other operation. Also my eldest sister due to endometrium pregnancy so need a surgery. About you I hope everything went right and wish you good luck for your speed fast recovery..

I've never had to stay over night in the hospital when I was younger. I guess things never got that bad for me around that time. Oh except maybe when I was born and the doctors had to do surgery on my legs because when I was born my leg was out of socket and the doctors had to put it back in the socket. So around that time I too was in and out of the hospital due to the doctors always checking up on me and doing more surgeries and stuff. Other than that I have been in the hospital when I was younger. I may have had surgery on my mouth and that was about it. They had to remove a couple of my baby teeth, because they would come out and the adult teeth were already coming through and so they had to take out my baby teeth to give room for the new teeth that were already coming in.
After that I hadn't been in the hospital for awhile, until I had turned like 21 a few days after my birthday I was once again already admitted back into the hospital. I think I told you what had happened, so I am not going to mention why I was in there. But when I went in, the doctors had told me that it was a great thing that I had come in when I did, otherwise I would not have been alive today. I had to have really major surgery to remove a few things and even my appendix. Then after the surgery, I had to stay in the hospital for a whole week. I had to be airlifted to the hospital and everything it was that bad. It sucked being in the hospital that long because it was so boring and people (nurses) were always coming in to wake me up and stick me with a needle. I hated that and because of that I hate needles even more now. And if you hadn't noticed, its even more scarier to be in the hospital late at night. Like omg it is so spooky in the hospital late at night and everything . Because of that I never want to be admitted to another hospital ever again, unless I am having a baby. Lol.

Hello kerriis,
Very interesting you are talking about hospitals, coz that is where i have spent many days recently while i was away from mylot. I was sick with typhoid and i had become super weak with consistent fever reaching 104 degrees. It is terrible to get such a high fever. In fact the worst thing was, i was not 100 diagnosed for typhoid, i mean the doc said it is close to typhoid but not exactly typhoid, though i had enteric fever due to infection in the intestines, but anyways, i asked the doc two times at different occasions if i had to change my diet but he said there is no need. So i started eating normal food, and i got sick again! After 2 weeks of recovery.
I was admitted to a hospital the second time, and i this time i was there for 10 days. The first time i was admitted to a bigger hospital i was there for about 7 days. My diet now includes boiled vegetables and everything boiled. No spices, and no oil, just like jaundice patients, since it's the infection in my intestines, and that too the second time. Boy, i had grown so weak, with this fever eating me up. The second time i had got sick, my temperature crossed 104 degrees ! Wow, actually i felt kinda normal when my temperature was between 102 and 103, coz i guess i had got used to the consistent fever. The nurse would ask me if i had fever, i would say i guess not and when they would measure my temperature it would above 101 degrees.
Funny days, i spent in the hospital. The first few days were horrible because i didn't want to stay in a hospital but then i got used to it, i mean what better can i do at home if i wasn't going to get well soon without proper treatment, so i was calm, waiting for the consistent fever to go down. It takes nearly 10 days for the fever to vanish when you get typhoid. It could get worse if you don't show it in time.
The place where i stay was also reportedly having more and more cases of dengue. I was afraid if i had dengue when i started to feel the weakness and fever. Lucky it was only typhoid, but that isn't something small either. I was searching articles over the net about dengue and typhoid, comparing them. I saw graphic images of dengue patients with huge ulcers kind of things. And one interesting thing i read about typhoid. If a typhoid case isn't shown to the doc for a month then the person has a nice chance to die. Wow, i just said that to my mother and she said me to shut up.
In total i had spent nearly a month in the hospital recently with over 35 to 40 saline bottle injections and a lot of other injections and a lot of.. Boring time. :(
If i get sick the next time, boy i am going to the hospital right off, i just don't want to die.

I've been in the hospital a few times myself, although only once as a kid to have two teeth pulled out under anaesthesia and that was only a day visit. My other stays were as an adult, twice to fix my left knee and the stay over was for 3 days and then one overnight after my gal bladder was removed and earlier this year I had my tonsils removed but that was only a morning stay from 6:00 to 12:00, had no complications. Funny enough I did not find my stays scary, maybe because I knew before hand what was wrong and what to expect. But about two years ago I went to the emergency room because I had severe pain in my left side and I didn't know what it was and that scared me. I spent a couple of hours there, received two pain injections before they realized that my pain was caused by kidney stones that were passing into my bladder. Now 'that' I wouldn't like to wish on anyone.

The last time I was admitted in the hospital was when I was 6 or 7 year old. Got a kidney infection. And it was a good experience. haha! I like the attention of people coming around visiting me and asking me if I am okay. But I am a nurse, so I have been around with sick people. And it is hard to see them suffer from sickness and all. What is worse is that, they bring patients to the hospital when they were already critical and the supporting others expect the health care professionals to revive them or cure them as fast as possible. But well, its really not a nice environment for everyone.

I have been in hospital for overnight stays just three times in my life. The first time I think I was maybe 6 - 7 years old and I had my tonsils removed, then both other times were as an adult when I gave birth to my two children. I actually think myself very lucky to be a healthy individual, I just hope that continues.

I think I had a very, very high fever when I was young, and threw up all over the place periodically. I was rushed to the hospital, where I was there for about 3 days.
