This morning, my friend, who is also my co - worker called me around 6:30 A.M. in the morning, but I miss his call. Not until he saw him at the door and smoking, he told me that he couldn't drive his car to work, because his car is leaking oil. Then I understood that he might need a ride to work. Gosh, it was cold in the morning too, from his apartment to work approximately 40 minutes or so. Then, at afternoon, he get off late, and I get out earlier than him, so I couldn't give him a ride neither. He is broke right now, and he just waiting for a paycheck this week. I sympathetize his situation, and I wish that I can help him something. I just hope that as soon as he get his paycheck, he will fix his car, and everything will be okay.

Well, at least he is responsible and didn't ask for time off of work. But it would be a real struggle for me to walk 40 min. a day back and forth. I hope everything gets better for him when he gets paid. I remember when I had to walk somewhere and it took me like an hour to reach the place because there was no bus service. It really made my foot hurt a lot and worn out my walking shoes really fast.

He said that once he got paid, he will get his car fixed right away. I hope that he can drive his truck as soon as possible. I also told him that, if he can, he should get a cheaper car, at least less problems than the one he has right now.

I wish he get his pay soon so everything will be alright for him. I have to walk to work on some days and mind you, it is very difficult especially that it is winter now. But life is like that.

Well, I can't imagine how it was like. I done it before when I was in college year. I was totally out of car, and I have to wait at the bus stop. Especially during the cold winter days.

Oh I can relate to this one and I feel for the guy. Many times, I was without a car and had to walk to work. It wasn't even a 40 minute walk. I didn't mind it in nice weather but in bitter cold, even a 15 min. walk can feel so much further. Right now, if I didn't have a car, I don't know how long it would take me to get to work. I work out of town and it takes me 20 mins. in the car on the highway. Its not on my list of things I want to do in life. I hope your friend gets his car fixed soon and that he finds a ride in the meantime.

I am sure it will work out.He can arrange rides with other co-workers. Maybe he could use public transportation for a while. If not, at least he is getting exercise.

You can always lend him the money for car repairs and then just wait for the paycheck so he can pay you back, of course if you can handle the repairs.

Walking to work is not such a bad thing, actually it is good exercise. When I was much younger I used to walk to work everyday, winter and summer. Our winters aren't very cold but our summers can get very hot, it's not a problem in the morning but walking home after work in the afternoons could get very tiring in the heat. Perhaps more people should walk to work if the distance isn't to far. One can make it part of your daily exercise routine and at the same time enjoy being outdoors.

Well thats really unfortunate, i hope he'll get his car fixed soon and hope the leak is not that bad so it wouldnt be that costly for him.
You should give him a free ride for the upcoming days since his paycheck wouldnt be that far.

Hopefully he will have enough money to be able to get his car fixed, if you finish at different times then it is understandable that you can't take him home. It is decent of you to take him to work in the morning though. It is a shame he had to walk so far, especially as it is getting much colder now. Let's just hope that his car doesn't cost much to fix and that he gets this done straightaway, surely he will be better of with things then. Good that you are kind enough to atleast provide him with transportation to work.

It is good you that you are a relying person for a friend of yours.
It is good be an approachable person. You have a concern towards his problem.
That should be appreciated.
Good luck

I don't you could not do anything about his situation. If he is really interest to work than he have to sacrifice to walk or ride on with your car. But he has to come earlier. In the afternoon as you said you go home early, if really want to help him, you might as well wait for him and take a ride. If not then he should find another way on how he could do about it. He could commute in a public vehicle.

This shows how lucky people like me and you are. Your friend is a hard worker, and has a good chance of combating such difficulties. The car problem was a big problem, yet transportation proved to be a bigger one! Money is sometimes so hard for people to earn, and I bet there are lots of students and working moms who fit within the category. May there years of hard work pay off, as I really think they need to be socially and economically better situated to live in this world. Home sweet home!

i'm sorry for your co-worker. a cold walk to work and back is tough. but many of us are unemployed and would gladly walk 40 minutes to and from. you are a good friend to give him a ride in the morning, maybe pick him up. and maybe another co-worker will get him home. besides it's temporary...good luck.
