If you feel pain do you see a doctor or go to a nearby hospital.? what if you can't afford it then how?
My friend just take over the counter pain medicine just to relieve it when he know he need to see doctor because he can't afford to pay the bills.

How much money does he make? I think if it is less than 133% or so from the poverty level he can apply for Medicare. That was one of the provisions the health care reform bill did, that you no longer have to get rid of all your assets before applying.
And still they are calling Obama Hitler.

I did not know until just now that this was happening in the US.How is it posible that the most powerful country in the world cannot take care of it´s people? It is beyond my understanding. I don´t know much about the Medicare you have, but surely if you don´t fit into a program there must be another that is for you.

That's really the sad thing of not having enough money for hospital and medicines :(
My father hated to go to the hospital because he thought that paying the bills will only cause us more problems financially so he keeps on buying herbal and over the counter medicines without consulting a doctor. And now that his illness have complicated we can't do anything but to force him to go to the hospital no matter how hard it is to pay the bills afterwards. We learned from then on that we should be doctors on our own illnesses when we know that we really are not experts of this field so as not to complicate things..

That's how I exactly told him about his pain..but he said: If I see a doctor then they will charge a tremendous bill right after then I will be more sick seeing a bill, wondering how to pay it.!

That's what my father always say before, but we never listened to him the last time we confined him in the hospital. The family will always be there to help financial after being hospitalize, so i guess it's better if he worry no more with the bills just as long as he/she will regain his/her strength back and before everything is too late.

What kind of pain exactly is he feeling and where? Maybe there are natural, low-cost home remedies for his kind of sickness.
You can try looking around on the internet or see if anyone knows here. But its helpful to know a little more about your friend's condition.
But responding to the question, I would go to the doctor unless I felt I was going to die, then I would definitely go to the hospital! As for not being able to afford it, I would either grit my teeth and bear it or look up possible remedies online.
