Sure, I do buy stuff from garage sales. There are just some items that are very low price considering that the item was used only once and then forgotten in some cupboard.^_^ It would also depend on the item, of course. I would usually buy toys, balls, knick-knacks, among other things that catches my interest.
As for "ukay-ukay", I dont mind buying from there. Some items are rare and a great find. However, I do set my limits. I never buy underclothes there, including undershirts and half-slips. I might consider buying clothes but it would depend on the level of "want" on the item. I am also meticulous when it comes to the details(is the hemline properly sewn?, are there holes? would I still wear it after 6 months?).
Although, I would wear those ukay-ukay clothes, as long as someone bought it for me. My Mom used to buy them and give them to me. Id wear them even if I know its ukay ukay.
I guess I just prefer not to know how the process of selection went.
That's just me anyways.^_^

I haven't been to a garage sale before but, I think I would if I get to hear one in our place. A friend of mine even considered the idea but, he has yet to tell us when he exactly wants to it. He even gave me a LCD monitor and a pair of shoes while thinking about it (^_^")
Well, I have been to those places in the Philippines and I have bought a couple of clothes there that I gave to my brother. As much as possible, the clothes should still look good and fit me well. Immediately putting them in laundry after getting back home.

Yes, that is what others would do when they would be moving to another place. In case the place that they are moving into already has furniture, the ones that they have on from where they would come from would have no place to fit in. Selling them is indeed a practical way to earn something and if everything doesn't get sold, they can always donate it to those who might need it.
Well, a good amount of people would still agree on buying brand new than second hand.

Well, its seldom also I've been in garage sale, but my neighbor is moving to another place hence, they had this garage sale. They just have to sold their old stuff for the convenience of their transfer at the same time make profit from it. If they would buy new things they had at least earned something from the old ones and just add few bucks for a new place. Good for you to have experience of acquiring stuff that are affordable and still useful.

I've never been in one but I've hosted one before. We were refurnishing our house and had to throw out a lot of stuff. Instead, we decided to sell them for extra profit. It was surprising how people would settle for second hand stuff than brand new, even clothes.

Well, its cheaper and considering the fact that people had a lot of needs to meet including the bills to paid. Garage sale is a wise thing to do for someone who needs something for his home or for himself. My neighbors are moving so they need to sell some of their stuff and indeed profitable and much comfortable for them not to carry those stuff in moving to a new home. I am thinking also of doing garage sale myself in the future if I wanted to replace my old stuff and add just a few more buck for buying a new one. Thanks for the response.

No. I seldom buy in garage sales. I usually buy my clothing in direct sellers and network marketers. I am a direct seller myself and I feel for direct sellers. I know what if feels when you don't sales, really bad, and I know how it feels when you got a sale! So, to help fellow direct sellers, whenever I need something like clothes, I contact them and buy something from them.

Good for you to have contact with direct buyers but garage sale are very occasional in my place, just this time since my neighbor is moving for a new home, hence they have to sell their old stuff which are still useful at the most reasonable prize. I also buy stuff either in the mall or in commercial stores. Its a good way also of selling your stuff when you plan to buy a new one, right?

Garage sale is not a common thing here in our town so we don't have the pleasure of such things.
Okay, the question for Filipinos, would you buy clothes in "ukay-ukay"?
I know a lot of people close to me who do buy from these places, like my mom and aunts, but personally, I don't like to buy used clothes or those sold at ukay-ukay. It's not because I'm "maarte" or choosy, but I just don't like the idea. Maybe one reason is because the "ukay-ukay" stores near to use sell items that are very old already and obviously used. But if I would see something I find attractive, I don't see any reason not to buy it especially if I have the money.
But I own some things my mom bought for me from those stores, like some clothes. But honestly, I really would prefer to buy new stuffs than used ones even if they are cheaper especially when it comes to clothing.

Hello! I once went to a garage sale and all I bought for myself were jewelries. I'm not into buying clothes though. :-)

Garage sales are great for finding furniture, home decors, figurines. I would refrain from buying clothes.

I try not to go and buy stuff at sales, not because I would not like them, but because I am way too disorganized and I have lots of stuff that I need to make space for. I love to buy all kinds of things, yes, even clothes.

Thanks for being the first responder GardenGerty, a garage sale is irresistible especially there's this table or a jewelry box for women at an affordable price would be great. Well, looks like you need to make a garage sale yourself Gerty! Anyway, we both love garage sale.

We have garage sales all over our city and country side all the time, except in the winter. I go to them quite often just for fun. I like to just look at things and see if I can find something different or unusual. I have found a few cute things...I found a cute music box that I only paid a dollar for and I cleaned it up and put new batteries in it and it looks like brand new and the music is so sweet. I found a wireless mouse for my computer that looks like a mouse and I only paid $5 for it. I know in the stores a wireless mouse is around $100 so I thought I got a pretty good buy and thought it is so cute, my white mouse.
I have never purchased any clothing items or shoes but I have purchased handbags at garage sales. I have never really looked at any of the clothing items because there usually isn't very many because clothing isn't a big seller at garage sales, not here anyways.
I'm trying to think of what else I have purchased...books. I have never paid full price for a book in a store, all my books have been purchased at garage sales. I have purchased a bread maker at a garage sale and I still have it and it still works good. I think I paid around $15 for it, maybe $20. Lamps, I have bought lamps at garage sales.
Well, that's it I think.
Cheers and Happy mylotting my friend ,
Chris

I like browsing at garage sales but I don't always buy anything. If I see something I need or really want, I have nothing against buying at a garage sale though. Whenever I stop at one, I'm always looking for that "treasure". I think of those stories of someone picking up a painting or some other item for a few bucks and later finding out it's worth thousands. That doesn't happen very often but it sure is fun to dream.

I love buying on a garage sale, most items are cheaper and unused. I also buy stuff from ukay ukay but I rarely buy clothes, mostly I like bags.

Hi, I'm also from Philippines, I haven't bought any items from a garage sale yet because I've never been to our neighbors' houses. I do not also buy from ukay-ukay and I'm sorry for responding this post without any experiences at all.

I've only been to one garage sale and I ended up buying a cashier's box. I don't know what happened to it. I was just a kid. My parents bought sofas once from a garage sale. I would consider clothes if they were in good condition and I really liked them. It'd just be like buying vintage or from a second hand store.

i never attend any garage sale before because the people here hardly organise one... and if they do, it is not near my area and the timing is not right... so i also never buy anything from garage sale before... i've been to flea market before though and bought second hand clothes and books from there... take care and have a nice day...

Garage sales come up quite often in the suburban areas of the city quite often, almost every week or so. Yes, they do put a lot of very useful items on the sales. Many people shop around those spots. Though not often I do also drop by once in a while, and I would pick the items which I find useful at home.

I like going to garage sales and second-hand stores. I think it's not so much the prices as it is the thrill of not knowing if you will find something really great or not.
I don't normally buy clothing from garage sales, mostly because most clothing sold like that is not my size. I may get lucky at a second-hand store with clothing but even that is rare.
Normally, I just like to go and see what they have for sale. I'd have to say I've probably decorated half of my house from second-hand stores and garage sales... nice stuff, too!
I once bought a weird-looking thing from a second-hand store. It was brass and looked kind of like a pair of scissors but one side had a sort of cup. It cost me 25 cents. When I got it home, I looked it up online and discovered that I had bought an antique "wick trimmer". These were no longer made after 1836. Mine was worth $400.00!!! Not bad for a 25 cent investment!

I love going to garage sales. Mainly because you never know what you will find. One mans junk is another person treasures. So I usually look for books and I collect teapots. So that is what I first look for. I would not buy clothes from a garage sale unless it had the tags on and it looked brand new. I have to say that has never happened to me. Lol LOl LOl

I noticed that some items are still good and branded too. My only problem is that my rhinitis come to its peak when I start choosing some items..
