We go to the library each week. Well, usually my wife goes and sometimes takes the kids. I go every now and then, but not very often. We reserve books online and then go to pick them up. These are mostly novels or kids books, but every now and then we get a non-fiction book from the library. We spend enough time on our computers each day as it is so we enjoy reading real books in bed each night as opposed to reading on the computer screen.

Reading real books is still more relaxing than reading them from a screen, right?

A lot of students still go to the library. I work on our public library and I still see them browsing books in our collections. They say they can't afford to be online and its a lot easier to read books than reading on the screen.
Personally, I have always been a book lover. Printed pages are more readable than their electronic counterparts. I have an eBook reader on my cellphone, on my computer but I am more relaxed when reading from paper pages.
For all the hype about electronic media, paperbooks are still here to stay.

Amen to that. Especially to your last statement. I still love to read books. Personally, when I find an interesting article on the net, I print it out first and enjoy reading it on paper. :)

Yes, I do still go to the library. Matter of fact we go once a week and we enjoy the time that we spend there. We also attend programs that the library offers and we take advantage of being able to borrow books, magazines, movies, music, etc. I enjoy the silence that I can find at certain times in the library.

I go to the library maybe once a week. They got rent for free Books and DVD's there so why not. They also have computers and fun activities. And sometimes I go there and read because it's quiet perfect for learning unlike the internet so much info but there's also so much distractions available.
I live 500 meters away from it so it's not bad.
It probably is different from where you live.
Internet sucks sometimes.

Interesting point. Especially your comparison with the Internet and the library. True, the Internet provides a lot of information but with a lot of distractions as well.

Hi archon! Yes I still do, I've just been down there this afternoon with my fiance to return some books he borrowed and for me to pick up a book I have just reserved. I also got to pick some books that I would like to read after I finish one novel I've been reading for a week now.
I guess like some others, I still like to read books in the traditional manner. Unlike most hi-tech gadgets that you can use to read like e-books, audiobooks (well for listening purposes), etc. I think it's best to enjoy reading a hand held real book for me. I find it difficult to read for long periods of time on the computer/laptop or on those devices because it hurts my eye staring at the screen.
I feel like with the technology nowadays, anyone can get ahold of any information they need, whenever, wherever and whatever. So I guess there aren't that much people going to the library these days, except those who still love to read books. :)

I go to the library all the time. The internet is great, but there is information available at the local library that you can't find on the internet. If you are a person that conducts research for things, there is nothing like the library for that sure fire research backup. Not to mention all the great books that are purely fun. It's still a great place to just go sit and relax with some quiet and a good book.

I agree with you. Besides, some information you'll find in the Internet is not 100% reliable.

My college library provides free wi-fi network, so...
Most of the times I go there only for project work as it's quite a good place for all members to meet. Besides, it's better than my room for study too (I'm lazy though, always needing full length rest..)
My library is worst I have ever seen, otherwise I loved to go to libraries for different books. Printed books are lot better than online one. Easy to carry and easy to eyes too...

I agree with your last statement. :). But I guess when you see our library you will retract that statement that your library is the worse that you have seen. heheh.

No.I do not go to any library anymore.Internet has almost destroyed the need to go to a library.Any and all information is available at the fingertips and there is no need to go through books and pages to look for information.I think in certain ways the Internet has revolutionalized the process of information retrieval and use.

yes, i still go the library... i prefer to borrow books in the library because sometimes the topic i'm finding is not found in the internet... and i can use the book anywhere i want and any time i choose.. especially on brown/outs that internet is not accessible.. also, i can bring books in our classroom for discussion.. at least i could have something to refer..Lastly, are research papers requires at least 5 book references.. we should have less of the internet sources..

I go to the library once a week because I volunteer there, I also review the things i borrow from the library so I get some extra money out of it. It works and it's a win-win situation for me.

Yup i do go to library once in a while. But i go their if i have a time to read and search important topic regarding with my subjects. However like you said, with internet acting as a big library with all you're needs in their. But down side is that internet information is likewise made by some people and if you're the reader you wouldn't just believe in whatever he/she says rather you go to the library because you know trusted authors publish that kind of information.

Yes, I go to the library even though I'm working for money. At the place, I usually browse best seller books and browse DVD's to watch on the weekend. There is a trend for people going there, as nowadays I'm seeing less Europeans and Blacks going there, and more Asian students spending quality time there. I suspect that these students are a part of a study group, as lots of them stroll with friends and talk about science and math.

I still go to the library because I can find many books about design. So i don't have to buy the design book. Design books are very expensive for me. So i better catch up all of that in the library. And lucky me, because my university provide many good books for their students. Many students still go to the library for finding their research. that's really help. =D

I still had to go to the library when I was still a student and to be honest it was mostly a pain in the rear areas. Having to return a book before a fixed date or I get penalized in cash? That date sometimes being 1 or 2 days after I took the book? Fun times. Fun as in Dwarf Fortress type fun, if you know what I mean.
The physical library is going to become a defunct institution, and it's alright, because it just means that the written word will be spread by more efficient means.
