How do you pick presents for him/her for special occasions ? Some like choosing presents which are luxurious and fanciful, whereas some pick which are practical and useful for him/her. That also would depend on the person to whom the present is being offered, I would think. Personally, I prefer choosing presents which would be useful for the person. How about you ? How do you pick presents ?

If it is for a friend I'd definitely go for a practical gift. Now picking a gift for someone special is quite harder.Luckily I've had good memmory and remembered what exactly they've told me they like, which saved me quite a trip to the shops.Though if one can not remember something like that picking the practical present is ( at least in my opinion ) the best way to go.

Process of choosing presents is many times hard and I am desperate because I really don`t know what to buy. I think you are right it mosty depends on person some modest people are satisfied with just a small thing a somebody needs something expensive to be happy.I am trying to be original a give something useful or something what I know is good for that person. I think that material things are not everything and sometimes different kinds of presents make people happy more. For example poem by beloved person is sometimes more beautiful than jewellery.

i am the same like you... i usually pick presents that is useful for my hubby or what he really needs at that time... there is no point in giving something that he doesn't need as it is a waste of money and i can't afford to do that now as i am jobless... take care and have a nice day...

Giving gifts is already a gesture of kindness, that matters most especially if it comes from the heart.

Hello, Presents should be useful to the person in any manner. I have given only two presents in my life till date. I think presents should match the occasion and the person you are giving it to.

One can be practical 363 days out if the year. On their birthday or Christmas/Hanukkah they should get what they Want. With my loved ones they give me a list and I pick from it , Simple. But shopping for my mom was hard. Every Mother's Day, birthday ,and Christmas , she said the same thing " Surprise me" I wanted to kill her! so All during the year I wouldspy on her and see what she wanted and I would get it. One Christmas I got her favorite author complete works. She Was surprised. Come to think of it , It was Mother's Day , We would shop together. That was the gift that Was practical. One year I got walking shoes.

Hi,
Last week, I just bought a belt for my husband for his birthday
present, Since his birthday is coming soon and one of the local
department store is having great sales,so it is a right time for
me to grab something useful for my husband.Although my husband has another
belt at home, but he will only use it for special occasion.
So I intend to get him another belt for his daily used since the one he
is using now started to get old and broken bit.
The price is reasonable and i love the design.
For present, I prefer to buy something that is useful and really needed.
Or else,it is just wasting money buying something for someone which is
not useful at all.

I'm no good in choosing presents. Mainly because I'm not giving presents away. It is very rare for me to give away presents. And mostly when that happens, it's usually for my parents and siblings and some real close friends.
I try to choose presents that is matching their taste and likes. Some are given photoframes with enhanced pictures because I knew they would love them. While others are given some things that they can actually use - like perfumes, shirts, dress...
So it usually depends on the likes of the people whom I am to give the present. Of course, if you want them to "like" what you gave them, you should consider what they want.

For my husband I try to first see what I can afford then what he needs/wants and then try to personalize it some how. I think personalizing something is way more than the gift its sef.

Hello greenline! I pick presents for it's usefulness especially for the person who will receive the gift. That means, I will need to personally check what are the things he/she needed then buy something that will be of use to him/her. It would be good to know that when the person received it, he/she will use it immediately rather than just display it without any use, cheers!
