Do you talk a lot when nervous?

Hello Dear Lotter I have observed during different sessions that people talk too much when they are nervous and there are also some people who just remain silent when they are nervous. Stress and fear of the unknown can trigger some interesting human behaviors, including the need for incessant nervous chatter. There are some people who cover their nervous feelings by filling the air with words. For most people, nervous talking serves as some sort of calming mechanism in reaction to certain stressors. Not everyone talks too much when they become nervous. Some people tend to shut down verbally when faced with a stressful situation. Other people talk excessively when nervous as a way to establish a bond with others, albeit an imperfect one at times. A nervous job applicant may spend her time talking to other applicants in order to calm down before an interview. By expressing her fears and making small talk, she may be able to gain enough confidence to handle the interview better. In my case, I always remain calm, never want to show my expression but it is really hard to control my self when I am nervous, so I ll eat some thing or ll remain calm and ll start thinking about different things or the situation. What do you do, when you got nervous and how you ll define your condition of being talkative or silent...:) Have a nice day...:)

Hi Dear Baby Jing Wei Thats very nice to hear from you, first of all a very warm welcome to myLot Wow you really have a very nice strategy of eating food and then sleep, it is nice to hear, you know its demerits but you still practice it, why? For me, it is hard to sleep during my nervous time, because again and again the same situation ll appear and it ll not leave me sleeping but very good for you that you get some sleep during these timings...:) Thanks for response, see you around Have a nice day...

I'll just calm myself down my thinking of happy things that are going to happen and if I see someone familiar, I'll also talk to them. Usually when I'm nervous, I'll calm myself down and sometimes clear my mind of any thoughts that will corrupt it.

Well I do the typical girl thing like giggle or play with my hair a bit. Of course that is only if I am on a date with a guy for the first time but usually just getting to know someone I stay sort of quiet. I hate it though because people think that I am being rude but really I am just so nervous I don't want to blurt out something absurd or anything. I really try to stay calm and over the years I have gotten a bit better about not being nervous but it is really hard sometimes to not be nervous around certain people.

Hi XoXo Cat Thanks for appreciation, Yeah, I have noticed this thing around me, that when people want to show their feelings they ll talk too much or they ll talk very loudly, and I think both of them are not much impressive, because for the time being you ll get the reward but for long run if you points are not valid then it ll not be rewarded but in your case, I know you are good in writing and so as you ll be good in speaking too, so I think you always have valid points when communicating, like my girl friend, she always have very valid points when she talks and I like it very much....:) Thanks for such a nice response...:) Have a nice day...:)

When I am nervous, I just try to keep myself quiet. I shall scream if I can not take it. But after my scream, I shall make myself quiet again. Talking too much will just mess up the situation. It will make me panic and worse. The best way to handle such situation is just to calm down yourself and think about the solution to resolve the problems within the shorter period.

When I feel nervous, I don't talk much, but more calm. But I could be easily seen to have the feeling of being nervous from my uneasy mood. I think that it is somewhat the same with some other people. Take care.

HI William Nice to hear from you, yeah, you are right, most of people tend to remain quiet when they are nervous and dont speak too much, because speaking too much may harm you by exposing your weaknesses or may you speak some harsh words so it can hurt others Thanks for nice response...:) Have a nice day...:)

Not not really. I usually do the exact opposite and get quiet. If I am more nervous than usual, I tend too giggle. Once I get comfortable I am fine.

hello, this is such a nice discussion. i am never actually aware of my exact actuation when i am nervous but most of the time, I find it hard to utter a word when i am nervous. it is like even my tongue is nervous. but i had witnessed others who are almost loud when they are nervous. they sound like their nervousness are uncontrolled.

I am a big talker in general.. LOL.. But find that if I ever get nervous, I tend to repeat my sentences. I am pretty good about catching that after it is done, but don't know why I do it to begin with.

I don't talk much when I am nervous. The reason is that I will stammer. So talking much will make it worse and expose to everyone of my nervousness.

Hello saqi78, When i am feel nervous i talk lesser words because i don't want to show to them that i am feel nervous. It is really hard to control your self if you feel nervous its hard to speak and your whole body is shaking but i try my best to avoid feel nervous because i know it cannot help you to make your work better or other activities. Hi Stanly Thats very good during nervous time, in this way you can hide many things and weaknesses, because at the time of nervous when you are talking, you never see that what you are talking, even you give you weak points to the listener, so it is better to be quite and calm Thats great dear, thanks for response Have a nice day...

Yes I still talk everytime I am feeling nervous. It is my job to talk so I will still talk to customers even though I don't feel like talking or even when I am feeling all the jitters inside me. During those times when I feel nervous, I just pause for a short moment and ask the customer if I can put her on hold then I will be able to regain composure. If I get back to the customer, I will then feel renewed and ready to talk to her again. Nervousness while talking is a sign that you do not know what you are talking about. You should always be confident and should know what you are talking about so you wouldn't feel nervous. Thank you for bringing up this topic which is I will be doing in the next couple of months. Have a great day.

it's quite a great topic to talk about . as for me .when i am nervous and when i feel out of comfortable .i won't talk too much ,and i think i am not so mature so i can't keep calm exactly in that case . maybe i choose to go to bed ,little considering what has made me nervous .sometime i also listen to music i love to relax myself . in reality we all could met with things that may make us nervous ,we are supposed to have our own ways to release our bad mood .no matter which way to make it we choose . glad to share with you !

Hi Mr Poker Glad to hear from you, your strategy really impressed me, and also you are right that it depends on situation and according to situation you tackle with it. For remaining calm thinking of the reasons is necessary to find out that what is the things which made you nervous, listening music is great to divert your attentions. But all this depends on the situations of being nervous, which differ from situation to situation. Thanks for nice response, see you around Have a nice day...:)

Hey..well i always try to remain as cool as possible when i am nervous, but it can be done everytime. In some situation we feel really nervous and in such situations i am very talkative..the reason being if i am silent everybody asks what happpend for being so silent and they can guess my condition, so i try to hide my nervousness by talking about other matters or to divert my mind for some time..and beleive me thats a good trick.

Yeah, I agree with you, some time remaining quiet can expose your nervousness and others can easily feel about you, so I think you are right that it depends on the situation and factors responsible for it. Thanks for a nice response, have a nice day...:)
