Hi,friends,
It is well known that students usually do part time jobs. However,is it a good thing?
It goes without saying that there are a lot of advantages for a students to have a part time job.Make extra money and gain a lot of experiences and so on.
However,as everything has two sides, the disadvantages cannot be ignored. The most important things for students is to study.Part time jobs may shorten our study time, some even cause that students fail in their studies.
So,how should we keep the balance?

Money is quite an experience. It can also be troublesome so it is also good to have experience in handling money if you know what I mean. With money in your hands you'll see for yourself how to budget.

Yes there would be a lot of disadvantages. For one thing, you'll be too tired to study since your time and energy is divided into two activities that require the same effort. Further, money would soon be too tempting that most would rather work than continue the studies. However, having the chance to work might also be good for you because it will open the opportunity of future employers to get to know you better. As someone who have done some hiring interviews, I do appreciate applicants who have had experiences working rather than those without any experience at all.
In the long run, I think it's all in your hands. Regardless if you work while going to school or not, what matters is your ability to manage time, one way of doing this would be by keeping your eyes on the goal or prize.
Goodluck!

I was a little envious of my classmates who were working while in college. I thought that they looked so mature and responsible. My parents then would not allow me to apply for a part-time job because I might as well just spend my free time in our family business. While that kept me busy then, I did not feel that was a real job because, first, there was no salary and, second, it was okay not to report for work when I did not feel like it.

Hi,
In my opinion, maybe you should persuade them to allow you do some part-time jobs out of your family business. There are lots of differences between working in family business with in other place.Without the protection of our family, things make a great difference.Wish you happy everyday.

if the student can get enough time to study it's nor bad to take a part time job in their spare time. they can get extra money, it help a lot for those students who come poor family, and more importantly, they can get social experience, it helps them ro find a formal job after graduation.

Hello,
You are right. But sometimes I feel that I am too busy to have a part-time job, even though I would like to have one.I think maybe I have some problems with time management.I was always busy doing something, however, sometimes later,I cann't figure out what I have done. What I am busy doing is always something not so important.

Hi,
Doing a part time job while studying is good,at least,
you can earn some pocket money for yourself.
Of course, before commiting yourself to a job, Make sure
you have enough time to do revision for your lessons and
you have to schedule your work and study properly.
If you manage to handle both well, then it is great.

i think study goes first .If my part time jobs go against with my study .I will stop doing it .In fact ,as a college student ,i have a lot of free time.I think do part time jobs usually wouldn't go against with study .Every time I stop doing part time job just because i don't want to do it ,not study .

Hi,
You know, apart from study and part-time jobs, there are a great many things to do in the college, such as joining the student union.I think it is so difficult to choose what to do,especially when I want to do all the things. Therefore,in order to perform well in the student union,I have to quit my part-time job.I want to do part time jobs but I haven't enough time to do it.What a pity!

i used to do part-time work when i was still studying and even almost full-time during school holidays... and i still can perform my study pretty well... it is just about time management and self-discipline... if you can manage your time well and discipline yourself, then you will definitely be able to earn money while studying... take care and have a nice day...

Hi strongsz,
Well i think the basic aim of the student is to study and make a carrier of him. So i am against students going for part time jobs. I come from India where study is pretty cheap as compared to western countries so there is not a big pressure to earn here. Also here study time and post college study takes quite a lot time like college is 6 days a week and you are free by 3 Pm and then you got to study two to three hours a day of self study if you are in a professional college. But if you are in a degree college doing some easy subjects then you can do some part time job though i havent seen anyone do it.

It really depends on the person I think. If you can work and do well on your studies I think a job is a great idea. It brings in some much needed money, but also gives a needed break from the studies. Sometimes a break will actually help you be able to study better!

Yes they should definitely be all put into jobs as soon as they are possible capable. Jobs can teach you a whole lot more in a week than a school can teach you in a year. And it's all about the end result anyway. Grades mean nothing when your son becomes a billionaire at 16. And getting him into a job is the earliest and most efficient ways possible to achieve giving him that most remote chance of making it out of being a modern slave to big corporations. Looking back I wish I'd had that experience, now I'm wasting all my time catching up for lost time just learning the ropes of life. Jobs teach you about real life, not school. So let the kid flunk I say but he better bring home some good money. Haha. Interesting topic + for you sir!

Hi,thanks for your response.
I cannot agree with you any more. You said that"Jobs can teach you a whole lot more in a week than a school can teach you in a year".Though it is a little exaggerated,it is true actually,at least in my mind. Some courses we are learning are already outdated, and some can never be used in the future. However,we have to spend a lot of precious time to learn them.

i've always wanted to have a part time job, but my parents never wanted to. i think it is good because students also apply their learning not necessarily the subject matter but maybe some skills which may include inter and intrapersonal skills. also, students will see the reality how difficult it is to earn money so the more that they will try hard to study.

One thing to consider is the situation in one's life. If we are going to look at the life of a student having a part time job, it is because the parents cannot afford them to send them in school and the student is really eager to finish the studies. So it is not really the mind setting of everyone that if you are s student, you just have to study. Because if only you will try to seek other people's lives, as early as elementary, these kids are trying to find money on their own just to have something for school. I guess, the disadvantage would be your physical body may not be that strong but still, it depends on your determination. Have a nice day!

I'm all YES to that, I was a working student when I was in College, and it made a lot of difference in my life way back then. Discipline is one, and Cooperation, and many more traits that you will encounter.
I also agree on those two sides of becoming a working student... but you just have to legally balance everything to become a better person that your family & friends, and co-workers can respect. Having an Education is as much Important as having a good job.. and having some background checks will help you further your self-esteem.
Healthy living, enough time to study, and clear scheduling of work, and a time to play, say an hour or two...friends who can keep you balanced in your work and study is a good source of strength.. and not those friends that only have one eye in work and the other in spending.
Set aside the negative issues and things that will only make your mind and body, emotionally and physically weaken.
Family is also one factor to help you balance you, if ever you wanted to become a working student... My mom helped me a lot.

Hi strong. In my opinion, students do part time job. It's good when they are studying at the university because they're growing up now. They have to go outside. Working can make them become more mature. They can gain experience from part time jobs. But when students in high school do a part time jobs. I think it's not good. Because they have to concentrate on their study for the graduation.
So, I think the students in the university should do part time job and the students in high school shouldn't do it.

It depends on. Although students shall focus on their study, but I think it's OK for them to do part time jobs if the time is not long and they can also handle their study. As working is an important experience for students. They can learn something when they are unable to learn from the school. And they know how to start to depend on themselves and earn some money. They can learn how to take advantage of this earning.
I love China

There are pros and cons to this issue. On the one hand, it gives the student real-life experience, like hands-on about the world. Aside from the money the student earns by working part-time, he also gets to know more about the world, how to handle money and how to deal with different types of people and a lot, lot more of other important information one does not learn in school. School is only to formally give you that piece of paper which will tell everyone that you finished college.

It's depends on them. If they can manage the time, why not take the opportunity to do part time job..
