Have You Put Up Your Christmas Tree?

It's tradition in my family to put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. I'm sure it's the same for many families across the nation. We went and bought the little 6 ft pre-lit Christmas tree that Walgreen's has on sale this week for $19.99. It's a thin type tree, and sure beats the little 3 ft tree we had to borrow last year. We have a small living room, but I made room in front of the movie shelf in one corner. I don't have many decorations. We are having a Christmas sale at my church tomorrow where I am sure I can find us some decorations....and hopefully cheap. I have some change I've been saving for some time to spend on gifts. last count I have $35.53 in the jar. Not much, but sure beats nothing! Marsha

our apartment is way too small for a tree, so we don't put one up. Besides, if we did put up a tree, or have any other kind of house plant except for one aloe vera on a very top shelf, the cat would just climb it.

I will start decorating for Christmas on Monday. We are out of town right now. I made a little tree last year from a tomato cage. What I would like to do, though is go through my attic, shed and basement and find all the trees we have had in the past thirty years and put them all up on the porch. I think it would be pretty.

that would be cool.....I have a larger tree at my mom's. I let them use it last year as no room down here. You've been here, you know how crowded my living room is. Steve had a really nice fat pre-lit one but apparently it got left behind when he moved in here. Marsha

thats a great deal. if you want to make dry mixes to put into jars for gifts there are good websites out there for that (you can buy a jar at a thrift store). then just decorate the jar. but no, our tree wont go up til the second week of december.

I've always wanted to give out mixes in a jar but never have gotten to that. I have a whole cookbook just for jar gifts too...paperclips all throughout marking the pages of things I wanted to make.

Hi Marsha! We cut down a fresh Christmas tree every year, so we usually cut it down the second week in December. We have a friend down here that has a Christmas tree farm so we usually can get one pretty cheap. Money is tight this year for Christmas so the kids aren't expecting as much as they usually get. The youngest is now 13, and she realizes that we have a tight budget, so I am grateful that they all understand.

I have not put up my tree yet and i can not see me putting it up for a few more weeks as it takes up alot of room.I always seem to take the tree down on boxing day as well as the rest of the decorations that i have put up.I think that they also gather alot of dust.My son has got his decorations up and lights in his bedroom window,so he is happy. We have a fiber optic tree that is 7 feet tall.

I never remember my family ever putting the tree up the day after Thanksgiving. I know a few people who do though. We normally don't put our tree up until a couple weeks before Christmas.

I would love to get a tree up but can't seem to get hubby in the same mood. We have a little tree from last year but we live in a bigger house and I would like a bigger tree, the tiny one we have would be lost in the space we have now...LOL I want a real tree and he only needs to walk out behind the house and get one but he says it can wait a little longer cause we haven't even taken down the Thanksgiving decorations yet. I'll be taking them down tomorrow, then he won't have an excuse!

We have one not so high tree in front of our house that we use to decorate with christmas lights and some waterproof christmas decors. At night, we use to stay outside our home and appreciate the beauty of the night with the blinking lights of our christmas tree. Happy holiday to all. Merry Christmas.

I've never ever had a tree up the day after Thanksgiving, nor did my family while growing up, maybe due to our getting a real tree. Somehow the tradition in my family was to have a tree up around December 12th--that way it'd still be fresh even after New Year's--heck some trees have lasted so well, I've kept them up until mid-February!

Our Christmas tree is up and we put it up the day after Thanksgiving. Well, the tree is up, and we have the lights on it but we won't be decorating the tree until tomorrow evening. We are making the majority of our ornaments this year and we'll also be stringing it with popcorn. We made a few fridgie magnets, and we'll be hanging our christmas cards. I avoid tinsel and sparkly garland, as they are both very messy!! We don't have any extra cash for x-mas this year ourselves, so we made some small Christmas ornaments for gift giving. We used red/whit pipe cleaners and twisted them together to resemble candy canes, tied on a red bow...and ta da, one ornament finished. We also made other ornaments out of felt, perfect for the family just starting out.

Well, I think it's too early to put any christmas tree I don't put a christmas tree as I'm an atheist and I don't really care much about christmas, being the religious or the actual mere commercial meaning. However it's fun to see so many christmas trees everywhere so early. It's like when I was seeing halloween decorations 2 months earlier too

I am considering putting it in the next couple of days, but it seems a lot of time till Christmas, so i will wait for a little while and then I will handle it. i love putting up the tree and it is a family thing to do, I am away now and it would be great when i come home. Have a nice Christmas everybody. Cheers :)

We've had the same Christmas tree for the past couple of years.. We just put it up a couple of weeks ago- well they put it up since I was a t school still. I love it, mom always puts something new or a "twist" to it to make it look different every year.

Not yet, well but I'm planning too. I think its better to keep the Christmas spirit alive. I notice in the malls and other public places they already play Christmas songs and they do have Christmas decor. But I think I will used my old Christmas Tree if ever I started decorating. I will just buy new Christmas decors.

Not me, I will not put it up for another couple of weeks. I have an awful time trying to find somewhere to put it that my son will not run it over with his wheelchair.

I will probably work on mine this week sometime. I usually do it before now, but just haven't felt like it this year. We are really struggling right now and I need to find some way of getting into the spirit but not sure how I will do it with the way that I am feeling now.

Ours goes up tonight as well. It has been a tradition for years. We have a six foot tree (artificial) that we put up. I will probably buy a couple of more ornaments, but for the most part I have a lot of my grandmother's old ornaments and ornaments that my parents have bought me over the years. As a child my parents always bought us kids an ornament. For 35.00 you should be able to buy ornaments easily at the sale. Have you tried Walmart or the Dollar store. They are cheap as well. If you love to paint I would suggest going to a craft store and buying ornamnets to paint. If you want to make your own I have a recipe. I will add you as a friend and give you the simple ornament recipe so you can paint.

Hello there Marsha32, In the place where I am now, I am not used to put up a christmas decor neither a small christmas tree. However, in our own home, we do put up our christmas tree at the start of dawn masses or others call it as "misa de gallo".

My family always only puts the Christmas Tree 1-2 weeks before Christmas. We think that before that, it's really too early.
