multi-tasking...can you do it?

I can multi-task to a certain extend but not to the extent that my mom could...I grew up with my mom of a night time sitting in front of the tv, watching a tv show whilst knitting (& following a pattern) AND she would be able to read a book ALL at the same time!!! I get exhausted (not to mention confused) just thinking about it! I can watch tv while knitting or crocheting or even mylotting but add my craft into the equation & I have to take a break from one or the other just to remember where I am up to. What about you...can you do things like that?

Great for you! But don't it increase your stress level! can you do all correctly? I mean while multitasking we are doing it in hurrry burry. Isn't it? But I can't do that! May be with practice I can do it!

Hi friend.... Glad to here from you that you are interested to see my paintings. You may see some collages or montages on my added photos. Exactly not painting but you can guess something about my feelings. I hope. Thanks.

yes i can... but i don't think i can do what your mum is doing... it is just too much for me... she is just incredible... :-) that's all i can say... i can multi-task on jobs that do not require much concentration... but knitting and reading a book at the same time, i don't know how she is able to do that... take care and have a nice day...

I agree, my mum was definitely incredible being able to multi-task the way she did...there is no way I could do that!

If it is some serious work then I cannot do it by multitasking with other tasks. For example if I am solving maths, I cant multitask by listening to music or watching television at the same time. That would simply distract me.But I can watch television, listen to music and read a newspaper at the same time. That should be pretty easy for many of us I am sure.

Yeah, I can do that too...I could even listen to music while doing my homework too when I was at school - or watch tv.

I can multi task on certain things, but I certainly could never watch t.v., read and knit all at the same time!! Wow! That takes a lot of talent. I can watch t.v., mylot, do the laundry and help kids with homework all at the same time. However, the t.v. is on and I am really not watching it...running up and down to change loads of laundry doesn't take time, and I can review the kids homework in between doing MyLot. I guess it just depends on what type of tasks I am doing at the time.

I have read somewhere that the mind can only focus 100% on one thing at a time. You can multitask, like knitting, if you have been doing it for years, you can do it without focusing on it, and then you can talk to someone at the same time. Maybe even watch TV and Read a book, I think this would be a rare individual that could tell you what was going on on the TV or what you talked about later though, if they where doing so many things at one time. Sincerely and With Appreciation.

I can read and listen to music, or multi-task on my computer, but that's about it. I usually do something else while I'm waiting for e-mail attachments to load, but no real major multi-tasking. I like to do one thing at a time.

I totally agree our parents were doing lot of multitasking but we are not able to do so much. I wonder why. We can just do one thing at a time or else we loose the concentration. I would have dialled a number but would have forgotten why I called up and whom I called and for what reason. I totally agree we are very poor at multitasking compared to our older generations.

I can multi-task to a certain extent but not as good as my mother...the older generations are definitley better at multi-tasking than we are.

I never could do so much but my mother could do exactly that. She also went to the movies with her knitting and knitted while seeing the movie in the dark. I can do other tasks that save time, like reading swiftly, the way Reid does in Criminal Minds. I can plan cooking with as many heaters as I have all at the same time to have a nice diner ready in half an hour. But no knitting AND doing something else for me.

I am in the same category as you marguicha, I can cook a few things all at the same time but even to take my knitting or crocheting to the movies...I wouldn't be able to do that - it would confuse me!

O am comfortable with multi tasking. some people can only do one thing at a time. I am at my happiest when i have several things going at the same time. Some people can;t be pulled in too many directions. I try to always be up for the challenge.

I can easily multi-task when I am at work but at home, if I try to do more than 2 or 3 things at the same time, I can easily get distracted.

When I was in high school, I could do my homework while watching tv but I was a typical teenager who lived in their bedroom listening to music while doing homework, etc.

I can do two things at a time and the maximum I can go to is three. However, I must say the quality of the work do dipped slightly when I am multitasking. But in current situation, where time is always not enough, I do not have a choice other than to multi-task.
