I woke up, eate breakfast, then walked out of house to my vehicle and then realised that there is horribly cold out there! -15°C! I was forced to clean my auto windows and to wait until my car will warm up a little bit until to start driving.
My car uses diesel, so i always must be careful with that in cold winter days. If °C will go more down to about -20°C then there is possibility that my car will stay near home becuase i will not be able to start it up.
What weather is in your location right now?

wow. I like sun and warm weather like in your country. I was traveling to Turkey and egypt once, so i loved their warm climate too. Ok, if i would be forced to live in the summer for several years i of course would want to see snow again, at least for the one moment until it gets too cold for me.

Hello there iDivision,
It is Jan, 17,2012 today and where I live it is -32 with a wind chill making it feel like it is -40. How's that for cold? After I post my response I am going to look at your profile and see where you live that you have really cold weather, must be Canada.
I have had to plug my car in the last couple nights because it is so cold. We rarely get this cold where I live, in Calgary. Thank goodnes it is only for a few days as it is supposed to reach 0 by saturday which is Jan.21. Can't wait!!
Cheers and happy mylotting my friend ,

it is -17C right now, but it feels much colder here with this temperature than in some more continental parts of Europe with the same degrees and it is only becayse of our location near Baltic sea. Latvia is a small country in Europe, right on the border between European Union and Russia.

I am from a tropical country, Malaysia.
I am glad to tell you that the weather here is warm for the whole year round.
I have the same experience as you when I was at the snowing country for few years.
At the beginning, it was new, nice and fun for me.
It was liked staying in the freezer for most of the time.
The summer was worse than my country. It was really liked an oven.
Since I were not grown up at that place, it was very hard for me to adapt and to survive there.
My smart move was to say bye-bye.

Yeah, that's pretty cold. Here in Chicago we've gotten colder. Right now it's not that bad. Still above freezing during the day. We're in the lower 40s maybe. It still feels cold because I have to walk to school (10 minute walk) 4 times a week. And I have no hat or gloves.

Tonight it is supposed to get down to 16 degrees Farenheit here where I live. I hate the cold weather. I would much rather live where it is warm all the time. lol Our heat broke yesterday and it got down to 19 degrees but thankfully my husband does heating and air so he fixed it for us. I'm glad I only work about 2 days a week so I don't have to go out in the cold as often as some people do. My husband has to work out in the cold so I feel sorry for him. I try to have him a warm dinner ready when he gets home from work when it's so cold outside.

This morning it was 0°C which is 7°C warmer than it was yesterday. I have had to de-ice my car all week though or scrap snow of it some days. I only have an inch of snow where I live, but my parents have about 10 inches where they live ... I am so glad I have moved away in times like these.
I worry that my car won't be able to move if we get more snow/ice because I live in a semi-rural area so the cul-de-sacs and streets around where I live are not salted so my car could just spin on the ground and not move anywhere.

Thanks God we have pretty good salted streets and roads in here now. Also snowing stoped and there is no more huge problems for driving car in cities or outside them.

I had about 2/3 inches of snow last night on top of the inch that we already had. I have looked at a map of the country and looks like it is moving inland so sadly that might mean more snow for me and worse road conditions. Up until now once I get out of my area the roads have been fine for my commute to work etc.

Brrrrrrr! That's COLD!
It has gotten down to 25 deg F here at night which is 7 degrees below freezing and I'm definitely not happy about it but it sounds like -15C is MUCH colder!
I am not a fan of cold weather. My all-time favorite thing to do is work in my garden, which has to wait all winter because nothing will grow here, it gets too cold. We live on a lake and I hate to look out and see it all frozen over, which it does every year.
My son, who lives a few miles from here, just bought a new car, a Volkswagon Jetta. It has heated seats and heated side-view mirrors. Lucky him!!! My car doesn't have either and it takes at least 5-10 minutes for the car to heat up enough for me to be comfortable. I don't mind much when it's at home but if I go out shopping, I don't like getting into a cold car and have to wait before the heater starts putting out heat.
Last year, we had over 8 feet of snow which I believe was a record for this area. Normally, we get less than a foot of snow. I hope this year will be more like normal. I couldn't handle another year like last year. If it turns out to be like last year, I'll be planning on selling this house and moving somewhere closer to the Equator.

In England we are having the worse early December for 100 years. It is in my part of England -10 outside and the wind making it feel worse than that.
We are not used to it so are not so prepared as other countries that have it cold and lots of snow.

-10C is ok, but wind, yes wind makes it much worse. if you have not car and you need to walk long distances then its getting realy cold for you in -10C i think.

Here in Atlanta its too early in the season to be anything definative. The temps and dry/wet keep bally-hooing..low 30's one night, high 40's the next..
When I was growin' up in Ohio and we were expecting a deep freeze my dad would go out in the evening and start and run his vehicle for 20-30 minutes. After switching off he'd cover the whole front end with an old 'seen better days' comforter/quilt and weigh the edges down to the ground. He said the heat would hold in until morning when he needed to run it. It worked!!
I don't know squat about diesel but this method may help out a bit..
Enjoy!

Than you for this advice. The problem with diesel engine is that diesel have 5 classes - starts from 1 ewhich is complete summer diesel and ends to 5 which is completely artcis diesel. Currently in my car there are 2 class diesel which works until -16C, when temperature falls down more this diesel could not be used in car. i need 3 class winter diesel for temperatures lower than -25C asap!

Don't you have an engine warmer? Or whatever they're called in English? I love mine, I don't think my car would start without it. "Only" - 16°C now, according to the news it's the coldest November since 1788 and the temperatures will stay that way for at least another week. *brrrrrrrrrr*
I know that higher up the mountains in Norway ( I live at the coast) where it's this cold most of the winter and not unusual that it's -35-40 °C, they sell special diesel that doesn't freeze when it's cold.

I dont know about engine warmers nothing, first time hear abvout them! I drive Volvo s60 D5 diesel engine car.
we in latvia use much easier method to warm up engine faster - place some plate in front of car engine where it pump air, so in the winter times engine watrms up a lot faster, but i never used this method until now. last winter was much colder and with much more than than this until now, so maybe i will not need it this time too.

I just plug in the electricity :-) It's better for the engine and the car uses less petrol when it's a bit warmer when it starts.
In january and february we had -25 for a couple of weeks, still no real trouble with the car. But once when I went driving in the mountains it was so cold that every time I had to stop, the car just stopped. Very annoying really. Hope it doesn't get that cold this winter.

I think the worst that i have seen my car say is that it is -10 c. My car is also a diesel and it takes absolutely ages fro it to warm up and i am also having to defrost my windows. I have to use my car, i would rather not in this weather, i also make sure that i can see everything before setting off to drive as i don't want to cause an accident. Having looked out of the window this morning i now dread going to my car, i felt the cold when i woke up this morning but when i looked outside i saw the snow, yes here in england we have snow so it will be very very cold now, i hate the cold and i hate driving in snow. I have only recently just bought my diesel car, the other car i had was petrol, it will be interesting driving my diesel in the snow. They really do taker so long in warming up and clearing the windows. WISH That they were much quicker like the petrol cars are. Well actually i would just prefer no cold weather and no snow ever. lol.

Today when i drive back from work there was one little moment when i havent see anything through my car front window. that was horrible situation and i was lucky that there was not any people walking on street in that time. later when car engine got warmer windows cleared faster and i come back to home safe.

Mornin'!
Use painter's plastic or tarp to cover your windows and use magnets to hold it in place. That won't funk up the finish but it'll make clearing the windows, especially with ice, so much simpler..
Enjoy!

IDivision,
-15 degrees C? That's freezing! I live in Missouri, USA, so it's not that bad compared to you guys. And I thought we had it bad.
It was a dreary Monday morning. It was around 42 degrees F and raining, so it was quite cold, but obviously not as cold as you guys. We were all upset, because the rain couldn't be snow, and I hate it when that happens...you have cold water pouring on your head! It was raining pretty hard all day at school, and I have to walk pretty far from our bus stop to my house, so by the time I got inside, I was dripping. Dreary, dreary Mondays.

I'm from Canada and the temperature is actually beem much warmer than usual for the last couple months when the temperature should have been below zero it was in the mid to upper teens as far as temperatures go.I really think that this could be caused by global warming or climate change. The amount of carbon dioxide that is going into the atmosphere is unreal and withing that last 100 years man has almost completley destroyed the ozone layer.
