believing in signs

Since my younger days, I have heard friends who, in times of indecision, prayed and wished for a sign to guide their actions. And these friends really believe in these and claimed to have seen and followed these signs.
For myself, I am quite ambivalent with signs. At times where others would say I had been given a sign, I view it as coincidence and still follow logic in coming to a decision.
How about you? Do you believe in signs and follow them?

I don't know exactly what you are talking about. Sometimes I will find that the world seems to be pushing me toward an action, if I don't follow these directions I found that when I look back on the situation I can see where I missed an opportunity that would have been of benefit to me. This has happened often enough that I try to be aware when this is happpening.

I do know the human mind is a wonderful thing. If you ask for a white rose all of a sudden you willl notice white roses all around you. So does that mean that your mind knows the answer to your prayer or is it just that your mind allows you to notice what has been there the whole time. The truth is we each have beliefs and what is real or unreal is always in question.

I know what you mean by missing opportunities by not following gut feelings, as hatley calls it. It happened to me, too.
But the signs I am referring to are specific ones. Like, I had a friend who prayed for a sign and said that if she sees or is given a white rose it would be the answer to her prayer. Or things to that effect. This makes me wonder, though. And if she sees or receives a white rose, would this be a sign to go ahead or simply a coincidence?
What do you think? Thanks for your response.

As a firm believer in the paranormal world, I believe in signs. There was once time when I was really lost and didn't know what to do and I had to pray for some guidance and signs. The sign really appeared and I followed it and it guided me out of the lost world I was in.

figurativeme I believe more in gut feelings, woman's intuition or call it what you want. For me it works and if I do not heed my gut feeling
I am always sorry. I have known some police officer who also have this intuition and it always proves to be true.It can
not be termed coincidence at all as it always runs
true to form.I do believe in gut feeling and in my woman's intuition .It has been proven ovedr and over again.

Hi Hatley. I agree and believe, like you, in women's intuition. And true, oftentimes, they do me good by following them. I have had several experiences on following gut feeling myself.
Thanks for your response.

I read a commentary a while back where this person trust there are “forces” or guardian angels that lead you in your life and show you signs to get there. For example one lady kept seeing the same numbers over and over and finally played them in the lottery and won some money. Another person kept seeing the name of a person in variations (last name on license plate, first name on a road sign, etc.) everywhere and then met her soul mate with the same name.

Just like all other people, i sometimes ask for signs to help me decide on a particular scenario. Whenever I'm feeling uncertain with my life, decision makings, I usually asks GOD for sign. This sign will guide me in the right direction.

Hi kaye! I too pray for guidance when I need to make a decision and I can't seem to come to one. Sometimes, my prayers are answered and sometimes not. There could be reasons for both. Thanks for your response.

If you pray for a sign, you are expecting something out of the ordinary to happen which one can take as a 'sign'. This leads the mind to be attuned to 'seeing' a sign in whatever happens in the next few hours or days.
The mind is a very peculiar thing. It normally perceives, processes and rejects many thousands of perceptions every day and rejects most of them as irrelevant to whatever is in hand. You must have experienced the times when you are so concentrating on something that you simply do not hear someone speaking to you or notice that you are hungry, thirsty or that it has got dark. You may have also had the experience that, when your mind is very busy with something in particular, something happens which you immediately think of as a coincidence or resolves a problem which you have been engaged on.
It is all to do with the 'filtering' process that goes on naturally all the time and is the same process which is used in such programs as the Law of Attraction, where, by making the mind concentrate on success in love, success or riches, it automatically tends to 'notice' the right opportunities which lead to success in whatever one is interested in.

I, too, pray for guidance. I don't pray for signs because I'll be just the one to miss it. I do believe that we are given cues in life that are meant to help direct us. And, I believe that there are very few coincidences. Coincidence is a term that is often used to describe instances that happen, and seem like they should be meaningful, but we can't explain why they happened so we write them off as coincidence. I do believe that most of these instances are meaningful, even if not for us, and even if we can't find the explanation right away.

I too sometime ask the Lord for signs whenever i am too unsure of my decisions. I hate to decide on the wrong things and so i ask for guidance like a sign. However i am so blind not to see the signs sometimes that would cause me to choose the wrong decision. But i also try to make logic in every action i make. Try to weight things for deciding on it. For instance, i prayed to God that the right person will come and love me, i have prayed for years for that, i asked for a sign and he did gave me many signs for that. Whenever my bf now comes, the signs are all there but i never said yes that easily. I asked for another sign and again the sign came. What i did was think, think, and even think harder if i would say yes to him. I just don't want to have my first relationship with the opposite gender to be a disaster so i tried to put think first before accepting that the signs are really what i have prayed for and not just coincidence.
