It is the time of the year when the weather is turning colder and temperatures are changing constantly. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to prevent getting a cold at this time of the year? My husband has been battling one for a few days and I am attempting to keep the house as germ free as possible.

I highly suggest taking Vitamin C and Echinacae at the first sign of a cold.
This will help with th severity of the cold....not prevent it.
We swear by it in our house.

Exercise. Exercise not only helps you lose or retain weight, it also helps you lessen stress and build up your immune system. It helps your immune system notice foreign bodies inside, and exercise could get rid of these things. Your blood flow better, like a ventilation system. You do not need to exercise a long time, only 30-45 minutes is essential. Even if you do not go to a gym, you could do this home. If you cannot buy equipment, use the stairs as a step and pretend you are having step class, or use them as a stair climber. This is what I do when I cannot get to the gym

for me, lots of water, eat healthy food (lots of veggies and fruits), not eating spicy, ice creams and dry food (snacks) too much and take 1000 mg of vitamin C daily... in short, i try to build up my antibody so that the virus can't get inside my body... :-) hope your hubby will get well soon... take care and have a nice day...

I'd grab the Lysol and spray doorknobs and anything else he touches..lol...that's what I do when mine gets sick..I also try to keep his hiney in the bedroom...lol..that doesn't usually work though.
I have heard that srinking alot of juice actually helps prevent colds. I read that being confined to a small space with someone that is sick is the worst. I read that it's not the cold weather that it is your exposure to someone sick that gives you a cold. If you don't do juice..I would do vitamin c vitamins.

You should do exercise every day, eat fruits which have much vitamin C like oranges, lemons... Keep your body warm the whole day, go out with a face mask and a scarf to keep your respiratory system warm.

Wash your hands, get enough sleep. Eat well, less sugar, more fluids. I like to eat spicy foods. I use real essential oils in things, like an oil to inhale. You have to find what works for you. I have heard some people swear by salsa as a preventative.

Gargle with warm salt water every night. A lot of germs lodge in the throat and can cause colds and stuff. If you wash away the germs every day, they are less likely to lodge there and pass through you harmlessly. Not 100%, of course, but it helps.
Also, change toothbrushes every day, and wash pillowcases and face towels and PJs (or at least change them) every day. Use HOT water This way, germs are less likely to stick around.
Good luck! This time of year, it is tough to stay healthy.

Well I try not to be over exposed to cold, getting tons of vitamin C also works! best from natural sources like lemon, orange, etc, drinking loads of water,I mean it,it's the best I don't know why,and of course my granny's special, chamomile tea with lemon drops and honey, about a tablespoon, nothing beats that!
Hu no cold showers I guess as well. These tips also work if you are already sick,it helps you heal much faster.
