have you been a VOLUNTEER?

who among you here have been a volunteer? It always amaze me how people decided to volunteer on something, knowing that they don't really get something of it. I have been to the ushering ministry christmas party in our church and i was amazed by the number of volunteers who were there, it was a blast! To think it was made possible by volunteers! I thought to myself then, do I really have the heart of Volunteerism? I joined the ministry, and will be serving in the coming days, I hope I could sustain what I decided to join in before. And be of good service to God and the church. Because being a volunteerism is a pure act of willingness to serve without expecting something in return. how about you mylottters? have you been a volunteer in your whole life?

I used to volunteer at church and play piano for the service. I got free piano lessons as a result so I did get something out of it, which is why I did it because I'm actually an Atheist. I have also volunteered at a soup kitchen. I should volunteer again, but since high school I haven't really done anything.

When I was younger I used to do a lot of volunteer work. My first volunteer experience that I can recall is when I was about 10 years old and during the summer they had a program at one of the local nursing homes where kids could go and visit with the residents and even help feed them once a week for lunch. Then when I was a bit older I volunteered as a teen volunteer at one of the local hospitals. I passed ice and kept people company there.

Wow, at a young age, you already have the heart to share your life, share yourself with others. What an admirable giving heart that is Ms. Doran.... Amazing! Thanks for sharing! God bless you! Have a happy life! :D

I really like volunteering. I meet a lot of people doing this. In high school I was part of the fine arts club. We did volunteer work for the fine art departments and did bake sales to help raise money for arts in the school. I also volunteered at many theatre productions in high school and in college. I also ran the charity at my job for a couple years. We raised a lot of money. Recently I have started volunteering at music festivals. Its a great way to see music for free and meet new like minded people.

Doing service for God is never expecting something in return and if given with your whole heart, body soul and mind. I have done volunteering before but not in line with the church. I hope someday i will though. I have been a volunteer nurse for only 3months. I really like serving others and i know that it's my love to really be of help, to the sick most especially. Even if i don't get something in return i still do all that i can to serve.

Being a nurse is not easy, much more when it's a volunteer job. The challenge has been more difficult when you know you wont be getting anything from it, that's when the real spirit of service be measured, because service is beyond money, compensations and benefits, it's doing the job with integrity and excellence regardless of the pay, and regardless of what you get in return, because by heart, you love the job, no matter what! thanks for sharing my friend! God bless you! have a happy life! :D

Yes, I have been a volunteer multiple times before. First of all I've volunteered at a number of events through my church (serving at meals, ushering etc..). Also back when I lived in WI I volunteered at the Wisconsin Humane Society where I cleaned, "socialized"/cared for the animals etc..

Wow, I have been handling responsibility before, I worked as a student assistant in the university I was in before. I was assigned in the library. It's a lot of work really, and I appreciate what you've done, it's for volunteerism sake.

I have ever been a volunteer, but I doubt I will ever be a volunteer in my whole life. At least I am not a volunteer to any organisation now unless I consider myself doing charity to my company. Instead of a volunteer to a charitable organisation, I was once a volunteer to a religious organisation, helping to attend to the call lines - an easy yet boring job.

boring as it may seem mate, but you just did a great job. Because, we all know volunteering thing is not an easy task. Again cheers for being a volunteer before! God bless you! have a happy life! :D

It's been some time since I've done any volunteer work but I used to volunteer at our local hospital as a junior auxiliary member. I basically went in the evenings to serve dinner to the patients and file paperwork in the Medical Records room. It was a really great and interesting experience for me. I actually got to see how the hospital works and I got to meet a lot of great people. I think the best part was when I interacted with a lot of the elderly patients there. They were really nice and glad to see a bunch of young people volunteering. Ever since I moved to a new city I haven't had a chance to volunteer anywhere but I wouldn't mind doing so in the future.

Yeah, part of the volunteering endeavor I guess are the challenges we face in performing our responsibilities as a volunteer. I believe you would soon have a community that will call for your volunteerism spirit. So be ready, and respond! thanks for the response and sharing, God bless you! have a happy life! :D

I was a volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation for a while. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes for kids that have life threatening illnesses. The only reason I don't do it anymore is because they never have any wishes for me to work on...but if that means fewer kids are getting sick, then I'm not complaining lol... It was a lot of fun though and I'd love to do more volunteer work whenever I get the time. I'll probably volunteer with the Red Cross later on.

I've done several different things but mainly at my children's school. I've cut out things for the teacher, laminated, etc. I also have volunteered for answering phones at the Red cross. It's fun and you get the personal satisfaction out of giving your time.

I've always want to volunteer but i can't do it right now for some reasons. that's the essence of volunteerism.love & sharing.share & help people in need.lucky are those who help people in need without expecting in return for they can have good karma. I've known a friend of mine not a volunteer but he love to give and share something to those people in need. you know what, i don't know where he get money coz everytime we go out e give something to disable people in streets,he gave big amount to church and sometimes he give a lot of food to those street-children.when i ask him he just say: it's a gift from God.yeah,he has stable job but his income is just enough for his family.

Maybe he know the value of the seed. He keep sowing seed for he knows that he will have the harvest in the future. He is just amazing, giving and not counting the cost, expecting nothing but gifts from GOD. He knows who provides everything he and his family needs. Nice story mate. thanks. God bless you! Have a happy life!

You are doing a wonderful deed. I do not volunteer frequently, but I do, from time to time, help in in the activities at the Community Center of our community. It is very satisfying to be of use for the community, even if it is just an hour a day.

I still have a mile to walk but now I'm making the first step. I hope and pray I could go as far as I can on this volunteering thing. I want to share a piece of my life into the ministry, and I want to leave a great footprint in the history of the ministry. Yeah, it's great and satisfying to be used in a community. Thanks for sharing! have a happy life! :D

Yes and that was like 1 semester ago, in school, when my teacher assigned me and my friends a task of community service to an old folks home. We went as volunteers to the Home to entertain the old folks and play games with them and we even helped to clear the dishes. It was quite a purposeful day and I'll remember it.

I have been a volunteer as a national watcher for Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for the election. That was a long time ago and i have forgotten what year that was. That was before, when i believed she can help our country!

WEll, she did help our country in little ways. I believe she did have some accomplishments, it's just that she was so bombarded with so many negative comments during her administration, maybe because our country has more oppositions in every election. Well, you are just great to have the courage to volunteer on elections, because I personally don't have the nerve to get involved in elections. hehehe :D had a cold feet on that matter. :D thanks toni! God bless you! have a happy lifE!

Hi chuyins123,Yes i have been a volunteer many times in religious ministry and also in elections. Just like you its amazing to see what a few volunteers can do to help organized an event. To put order in an event which would otherwise be chaotic situation. In my experience volunteerism can be for and in the service of GOD but in can also be for and in the service of country or humanity. My wish is more people would do volunteerism.

May God bless you! have a happy life! :D

I am a VOLUNTEER!!! Many years I do it...And I like it... I am an educator of a group of teenagers (15-16 years old) in my parrish and we have several volunteer activities... I admit, sometimes I have some crisis and I could think "Why do that? Is it useful for me?" but I think it's normal...The important thing is to not quit!

You are a great volunteer, you shunned away the feelings and doubts and questions of why, and you serve and volunteer not for anyone's sake but for volunteerism's sake! May you prosper and may God bless you more, have a happy life! :D
