Well the overall story is this , i gues you need luck in it too . I decided to experiment and the thing was with spageti . So i decided that to try to make some sauce , i friend onion and puted a little garlic , then somehow i think that was the lucky part i puted a jam of tomato juice . I added a little of black paper and salt . And that was it , i boiled normaly the spageti with a little of the sauce and a salt . I mixed it and well it was a miracle i loved it , i forced my family to pass on their chicken legs and soup to try , and they tried it - they don't eat spageti at all and loved it (my father eat it all until the end of the next day - come on they were mine :( ). But well i can't do it again i tryied couple of times , i think the dose is the same but well the taste was never the same , since the tomatoes have a different taste when i open them i think that they ruin it but it might not be that . Sorry if my cooking is simple for you anyway :P So do you do something great when experimenting and do you just hardly success in doing it again ? And do you feel disappointed then ? ;(

Hi Xansus I know you already selected a best response but I feel like making a comment and by the way give you some tips on how to cook a real nice spag. First make a nice bolognesse sauce, by frying some diced onion, n a clove or 2 of garlic[ use as much or as little as u like] then add the minced beef, or chicken,or turkey[ what ever meat you like] [I prefer beef, it's the original recipe] and fry all together until the mince is nice and browned a little [ not burn]then add about 2 table spoon of tomato paste fry it a bit longer so the flavour develops [ again don't let it burn as will give a sour taste] then add a jar of diced tomatoes, or pasta sauce[ or you can use fresh tomatoes ] up to you, add a bit of hot water, and let it boil gently on slow heat until sauce is nice and thick, turn off the heat and add some chopped parsley, and basil, this will give a fresh taste to the sauce. Check for flavour add some freshly ground black pepper [ this can be done at the stage when cooking the meat as the pepper will develop a better flavour ] add some sea salt [ to taste] and that is your sauce! Now to cook the spags have a pan of boiling salted water add the pasta to it and cook till al dente [ by this I mean soft but not mushy] rinse pasta under cool water this will stop the cooking process, serve spags on plate and top with sauce, I like to top it with some parmesan cheese, or any grated cheese you like! then let the family and you sit dawn to a great dinner. I usually make a fresh salad to go with it and serve some garlic bread as well . There is a lot of variation to this sauce I won't describe here[ the post is that long already!]if you need to know more just let me know, in the meantime? have a great dinner!

Yes, I do feel very disappointed when my cooking doesn’t come out alright. I’m a big foodie myself and I try to make new dishes now and then…however, most of the times, I’m not really successful LOL… I cant really rustle up a dish by following the recipe. My family has suffered enough and now they just want me to stick to the basics.

I do very much like to experiment with foods! I think that the spaghetti you made that everyone loved sounds delicious. I wish you could have shared some with me hehe. I love a good dish of spaghetti. I dont make it much anymore because my daughter has decided she doesnt like spaghetti and with just me and my son left that likes spaghetti that is a lot of leftovers. The only time I flopped making spaghetti was when I tried this recipe from a sneaky chef cookbook and I accidentally put in to much of the sweet potato mixture and it didnt taste good then. It really wasent that bad but since it has spinach in it it changed the color of the sauce and my daughter knew immediately that something was up and she wouldnt even try it lol.

Aww naw I understand if things dont look very good not wanting to try them. At my age I have learned that just because something doesnt look good does not mean that it isnt good so I am always willing to try things unless it is meat. I stopped eating meat when I was 7 so its been 20 years now that I have been a vegetarian. I never cook meat based meals for my kids. My son does love hotdogs though so I will cook them for him.

ahah sorry really^^ is awesome that your parents really loved that spaghetti but i guess maybe was the quantity of garlic and sauce that was different the second time you tried^^ try to cook it again and this time with smaller quantity ^^ i mean not a lot of sauce and not many garlic for sure^^ bcs garlic has a strong flavour. im sure you can do that again and will be delicious again. that happened with me sometimes too i guess is those things that happen with everyone ahah

Hello Xansus, i can say that my experience showed me that i'm pretty good when i'm cooking something for first time and then ... the quality and the taste of the dish are not so good, when i keep cooking it next and next time. I don't know why is that, may be the first time when we do something, we are just trying our best for the dish, to be delicious, we are caring it all the time, we are watching what happens and this is how we use the right moments for putting something in the dish. When we cook for second or more time, we have confidence, like - oh, i know how to do this, i'll put everything, what is needed and will stay it like that ... May be that's what is screwing something, i don't know. I did spaghetti for first time two days ago. But i've heard that you need to do the spaghetti at one place and the sauce at other place. So when everything is ready, you can fix both of them and the taste is good. I did it by myself and i can say that the taste was amazing.

Well i'm to the spageti a long time , i like them an pizza too ;) Yes you do them separate and jsut mix them after ;) I thinked of trying to add meat balls :P but well i need to do them first , and i can eat them without the spagety anyway :D Well the first time you just success without any proper timing , you don't watch how much time you fry this and how much you boil that ;) Maybe there is the key :P But still even when i taste it like i first did its still hard to get after the next couple of times ;) Well go go spageti :P One day i come to eat your spageti and make some of mine for you too :P

I love to cook and I love to experiment as well with what I'm cooking since most of the recipes I want to cook are hand-me overs so theres no written text about the recipe. I really love it when my family members get to love what I cooked. the feeling is just great. However there are really times when my experiments don't yield good results so I usually eat some part that is tolerable and most of it to the dog. Ha Ha Well we won't get good ones without having bad ones, right?

Yes I know what you mean. It is very important to figure out why it didnt turn out the second time. It could very well have been the tomatoes. keep trying!

Well ye overall i think this is the main problem other one is just adjustment to the taste of the person ;) Well lets hope next time i got luck with the tomatoes , and every time ;P To do good at something you need to master it first - i gues it apply to cooking as well :)

It is disappointing hen you go for something you expect to turn out wonderfully. it can be a crushing blow to your ego when what you strive for has the opposite effect that you want. We all go through these moments. it is just part of life.

I love experimenting when it comes to cooking food! I dunno why but I have always liked thinking of inventing or substituting ingredients for another to change or alter the flavor of my dishes. :) When I experiment, I try to remember what I've put in the recipe and if it was a hit or a success when my family and friends tasted it. If they didn't like it, then I just try something else. I do sometimes get disappointed but then I learned that, that specific dish has something not supposed to be in it. :) Just try again, or as what the saying says, "Try and try until you succeed." Happy cooking Xansus!

Yes , I do feel disappointed but I still try to do my best . Even my failure encourages me and I succeed the next time I try cooking something.
