I think the best medicine for insomnia is warm milk, and a nice warm bath. There are no side affects, because it's a natural remedy. Mothers all over the world use it to soothe their cranky babies and get them to sleep.

Yoga and meditation before bed can be helpful at relaxing you. Another good trick is to not do anything besides sleep in your bed. No reading, no television. This will help your mind and body to associate your bed with sleep. And try to stick to a specific bedtime if possible.

well i've tried phenibut which is available without a prescription. Seriously, and yes I mean seriously if you buy phenibut and take it then you really need to watch the amount you take. I took too much the first time I took it and slept a very long time. yeah, it was good for sleep but I woke up with as serious case of vertigo which lasted for over 24 hours. phenibut works for a long time(around 24 hours)compared to other supplements one can take orally. the other bad thing about taking too much phenibut is my mind was so fogged i felt like a zombie. that basicly ruined the whole day when i felt foggy like that because i had no interested in doing anything. i just sat around the whole day. yes, that really sucked. so if you decide to try phenibut for insomnia please watch the amount you take. if not you will regret it. i still take it for something i would call power naps which help me sleep longer then usual which enhances my recovery helping me feel at peak condition overall. i only take it around once every 2 weeks though. also don't take it everyday as it will build up in your system and you will start to have the zombie effect with the foggy mind. wow, i guess your saying information overload or was me talking about phenibut too much too soon, lol. anyway if your want something for insomnia without having to go to the doctor for a prescription then seriously phenibut is the best.
