why did you choose to live in the place you are now living in?

House / home - it's where we live. I had a conversation with my office mates about living in a house you own and a house you pay for to live in. I live with my parents. I never want to leave. Though I know I will have to someday, my parents never complained about it. And as far as I know, they really don't want me living too far from them. My office mate lives in a house for rent. He originally lives really far and commuting from there is hassle and very stressful. Why do you live in the place you are now living in? Is it because it is near your work? Is it because of your parents? Is it because you love the place so much?

When we looked at this house 15 years ago I was 4 months pregnant. I literally cried when I looked at it. The real estate agent told me not to let the owners see me crying or they wouldn't back down the price. We live in a 4-level side-split. There is a main floor family room with a built in gas fireplace with built-in book shelves on either side. A main floor powder room, a basement rec room, a whirlpool tub in the upstairs bath, spacious bedrooms with big closets in all 3 bedrooms (2 in the master bedroom). One of the key things we were looking for was a walk-out to the backyard from the kitchen. Having an above ground swimming pool was just a bonus. The house was not decorated at all. The walls were all that bland butter colour. We have done some decorating and changes but because I became ill after giving birth to that baby, I was unable to go back to work and money has been tight. The house is now paid off but money is still tight because we amassed a huge line of credit which we are now trying to pay down. There still needs to be so much work done on the house - wiring, plumbing, bedroom carpets, kitchen makeover, new deck and shed. We couldn't sell it in the shape it is in. I don't want to move if we can do the renovations I want, but with 3 flights of stairs to deal with, it's very hard on me physically due to my chronic pain. If I were to move it would be a large ranch home on some property with an extra bedroom and my own office/library. That would mean moving out to the country and I love the street we live on now and its location. We bought the house with the thought that it would be the house we would be in forever but we hadn't counted on my illness and now my husband has back and leg pain. But we can't sell the house in the condition it is in right now. We wouldn't get enough for it to buy what we want/need. Our girls are teenagers now and one may be leaving to go to college next year but she insists she would be home every weekend. That's why I want a fourth bedroom. Guests have had to sleep in the family room, though we have added an accordian door for privacy. If I could find my dream home and we had the money, I would move in a heart beat, even though there is a lot of junk stored away in this house.

Well, here where i live is really where i have lived all my life. The only gap was when i moved to a town next to mine as i got married and worked there and i stayed there for a year. I guess as i have lived in this town as good as all my life and i have a lot of family here and many friends i am happy enough. There are plenty of local shops and supermarkets and other places so i guess this place meets my needs. Also my son is used to here and seeing his family so i would not really want to move away. Although i would love to live abroad, i would love to wake up to it being hot and seeing the sun often unlike here where it is normally raining and very very cold.

I live in a three bedroom semi detached bungalow. It is situated in a quiet close and is in a peaceful locality. I moved here in August this year because my disabled son needs a downstairs bedroom and bathroom. Before that I lived for five years in a two bedroom terraced house. So I moved to a property in the same area. Before that I lived in my first home. It was a tiny cottage built in 1835. It used to be part of a Victorian workhouse. I owned that for 14 years. That was in a county called Kent. I moved to where I live now five years ago. My sister and my mom also moved. Now we all live close to one another.

i chose to live in this place, first, i found this one better compared to manila or luzon. for almost 20 years here, i never experienced something like ondoy. no great typhoons ever passed this place, no flash floods, no landslides. besides, 20 years ago, traffic was nothing compared to edsa or taft or espaƱa.

I live in this place because I can be with my parents. I have to help out sometimes when my parents need my help. So, that is no reason why I should move far, and far away. I just glad that I am still have a place to stay in. That is my biggest pleasure.

I have been living in my apartment for more than five years now and it really feels like home to me now. I decided to transfer there from my parents' home because it is near my work.

We bought our house 36 years ago because of the location and school district. Our oldest daughter was 2 at the time so we wanted a house we could stay in for a long time and be able to put our kids through a good school district. We are centrally located to everything including major highways. We had two more children and each had their own rooms. As it turns out many years later, my husband's office is about 3 miles from our house which is so convenient. Our kids are grown and gone now but we decided to remain in this big house. No reason to move yet.

I live in the bush where it's peaceful and slow. I have a 3 bedroom home all to myself and a huge block where I can keep my pets. There is a big front porch and I'm planting trees and trying to create a garden. Homes in Australia cost around $200,000 in the big cities and suburbs, This house cost me way less than $50,000. I live here because I can I live here because I want to I live here because it's cheap.

My wife had a place here when we got married. It was an old mobile home. We lived in it for the first five years that we were married, but then we had it hauled out and had a brand new mobile home moved in on the same place the older one was sitting. It has worked out pretty well so far, because we live in a very nice neighborhood...

hi trishasantos you must be in the Philippines too as my friend here at Gold Crest is Perla Santos and she came here from the Philipines too. I did not really choose this retirement center at all but because my son was laid off and we got behind on the rent we were evicted. so thus we were homeless with my son having no income and I had my social security and ssi which were not enough to pay the rent. so I got put here to have a place to live and my son got gov.sponsored help so he could live and find work too. I am 84 and partly handicapped and retired with only my two checks they pay the room and board here and leave me a little for personal needs.so I came here in tears and have learned to accept it bt not particularly like it, not something I had ever wanted to do or expected to do in my golden years.

I live in a place which is not that far from my work place. I am living there with my family for quite sometime now and my parents decided we stay there. It's actually a beautiful place to stay to, the neighborhood is a bit loud but very friendly. Loud in a sense that they love to listen to music with big speakers. But the music is good so it's not that irritating to the ears. And the church is not too far, we have a public market near it and schools are not far either and it's very accessible to the center of the town. We all love it there that's why we are sad to leave the place. We have to transfer to a new home, and hopefully we will love it there too.

I moved to this city because I love it. I am in this house because I have been paying for it for many years. It is almost paid for. When you are young it is sometimes good to live with your parents.

Five years ago I moved to a new area because my sister and her husband has already moved there and my mom soon moved there too. My mom bought a two bedroom terraced bungalow. My sister bought a five bedroom detached house. I bought a two bedroom terraced house with a view of fields. My life was to change considerably after that when I went into a relationship. I got pregnant with a baby and that turned out to be my disabled son. Then two years later my baby daughter was born. My disabled son is unable to walk and when he reached three years old I found it difficult to carry him around like up and down the stairs. I looked into the possibility of moving to a bungalow in my same area just to make my life easier. I put my house on the market to sell in the spring of 2010 and then the second person to look at it agreed to purchase it. I bought my ideal home: a semi detached three bedroom bungalow that is great for my son's wheelchair. There is a wet room suitable for a person in a wheelchair. It was on budget in a quiet close with a feeling of open space which I adore. It is within walking distance of my sister's house.

I live in the place I live in now because it is quieter and more peaceful than where I lived before in the city. The pace of life is much slower as people are not constantly rushing around going nowwhere! _Derek

Hi trisha! I really do like my apartment. I have be living here for about 30 years. But, unfortunately I have also been renting it for that long, meaning I could have bought and owned a house outright by now! If I had known that I would be staying here all these years I would have at least gotten a Condo! But, now I can't afford to move because my apartment is "rent controlled" and I am paying a low rent compared to what the rents are now because I have been living here for so long. Don't get me wrong, my rent is definitely not cheap! I am on Disability and not working so there isn't any other place that I would be able to go on a fixed income. I can barely afford the rent I'm paying and the NYS doesn't care if I can afford it or not.

I currently live with parents rent free thankfully, but I will soon be moving back to Pasadena. I'm in Chicago right now and can't wait to get away from the cold. I'm looking into getting a room off-campus right now at a fairly cheap rate. 595 a month. I looked at pictures and it's pretty big and clean with a bed, desk, bookshelf, closet, mirror, and a big dresser. I have a lot of stuff after living 4 years in California so this is perfect for me. Only thing is I need to share the bathroom with another person, but it's not a big deal. The dean thinks it best I don't live in one of the houses I'm a member of because it's kind of a party house. Because I found a place a block away from campus for cheaper I don't mind. I just hope no one else saw the craigslist post!
