i just came back here in mylot after a month of being busy from work. as for the record this is my 2nd discussion that i ever made.
i just want to share to you one unforgettable experience that happened to me sometime on a Sunday noon.. if only i could turn back the time, i could have done something to save everything i had..
i was so innocent, clueless, and very eager to help somebody whom i met along the busy streets here in the city of my hometown.. a pregnant woman approached me and asked if i could help her in anyway to get her fruits be transported to the other island.. well, i haven't slept nor eaten anything at that time... i answered her immediately that i don't have any idea on how to help her... she then told me to ask the old lady in front of me.. and so i did.. to my surprise the old lady knew how to help the pregnant woman, she seemed to know a lot of things that i doubt it ever existed..
the pregnant woman said that if i and the old lady can help her, she'd give us some fruits or a part of her money as gratitude..
the old lady on the other hand who knew a way to help the pregnant woman said to me that we'd get a commission from some sort of truck renting company if we could get the pregnant woman into the business..
clueless as i was... i never thought it sounded too good to be true... and all the things that they were saying didn't make sense to me.. however, i was very eager to help the pregnant woman in any case even if i don't get something in return..
not knowing that i got set up by two swindlers who gave me false pretenses.. they took my sling bag consensually, entrusting me with a sling bag that has nothing but papers and fake money inside it..
this is the worst experience that i've ever had in my entire life.. they took everything that was very necessary to me... hoping that i could regain everything that was taken from me, i'll have to stay strong and move on... i'm grateful to the Almighty one that i'm stil alive..
lesson learned:
never talk to strangers in busy streets..
if they start asking directions, help, or plead something from you... just walk away and don't look at them in the eye
never trust anyone you don't know even if they claim that they know your family, your friends or whoever they mentioned whom you know
just don't trust anyone out there...
anyone of you who wanted to say something?
anyone of you who had a similar experience as mine?
please feel free to respond to my discussion... ^_^

Hi dear,
In fact they are really trained frauds. Exactly not this way, but even I had met few incidents for me for some years before. Fortunately, you managed without being involved much from their trouble. Consider this as a best experience. In fact they can measure the mind level of other people and they will approach us and make us to dance upto their tune and we will understand the danger after some time only. The real issue is that someone who really want in help will be in trouble whenever required. They know that normal people will help and our weakness are getting spoiled. However, take care and if such situations comes again, there is no problem in helping again, but make sure that more people are around you.
Thank-s

Hi dear,
Also please make a note that if you can recollect those people again, make a watch of them and find any clue about the same. Because they will do the same with others whenever they get time. The locations may be different. As this kind of performance is their earning process, they never stop it. They will wander to various places and changed the modus operandi. However, Please tell about the incident to others, friends and family also, so that they can also be cautious of such things if such similar things happens to them.
Take care.
Thank-s

Thank you so much for the advice. I believe I don't have to be scared or ashamed to tell everyone about my experience. This could be the worst experience that ever happened to me, but I have to share this to everyone so this won't happen to my friends and my family. Right now, I haven't gone out to places yet as I am busy with my job. Now I know what to do if ever I'd get the chance to see these people again.
Thank you so much for being a concerned mylotter thanks1961. I appreciate it a lot!
More power to you and your family. God bless and Happy Holidays!

You're right the make us dance up to their tune until we become their helpless prey. I hope and pray this won't happen to me again.. if ever i would encounter the same situation, i think I would have to call the police to bring justice from what i experienced previously.
thank you so much.. now i feel better.. i guess i'm not the only one who has been fooled by these punks. how i wish we can get rid of these folks.. ^_^

Sure, you had a bad experience. Are you going to allow those people to change you from being the kind, generous, helpful soul that you are???? Don't let them win. The next person might actually need your help. Maybe you should go to the police station. You might recognize a mug shot of one of them. You might just be the one who gets them off the street. It doesn't matter what everyone else is doing. It's what you do that counts!!!

I actually went to the district police station an hour after the incident happened. Unfortunately, I didn't see their faces in the records.. I guess I'll have to search further in the main police headquarters where they keep mug shots of most of the criminals in my city. This time, I'll have to be vigilant whenever strangers would approach me. If they don't make sense, and if they sound too good to be true, I'd better call a police before I'd risk my life or I might lose all my stuff again..
Thank you so much for encouraging me to stay kind, generous, and helpful. I'd still be as a sincere person as I was, but now with a keen eye and judgment to see things clearly if these people are really in need of help.. ^_^

omg! i dont think it will happen to me because im snob. i dont talk to stangers. heheheh.. hey, im just trying to lighten up a bit. its a lesson learned indeed. next time, if someone approach you or try to strike a conversation whom you just met, just walk away..as if that person is not there. its hard to trust people nowadays because if you show them kindness there are who would take advantage of you. just reserve it to those who deserves your help.

We all learn things the hard way. We never seem to learn from experiences of others. I too have been duped so often just because I trusted and was eager to help. Hep people to help themselves and thus far and no further. Even helping a blind man cross the street is not without danger. You never know other person's motives. This world is full of cheat and rogues. Always help yourself because self help is the best help.

That was the hardest way that I've ever learned as an experience. For the record, I've never heard this kind of experience from others.. Either way, I guess I'll have to start helping myself first.. and prejudge strangers needing help before helping them.. but to be safe, I guess i won't have to help them at all.. they're capable of helping themselves anyway unless if they're totally handicapped..
thank you for the advice.. I'll keep that in mind.. ^_^

Yes.. Indeed.. being a good Samaritan of today requires a lot of cunning judgment.. we have to be vigilant and prejudge people before helping them so we won't be misled to fraud or deceit..

i'm so sorry to hear about your bad experience with those people. good thing, however, that you were not harmed. don't worry so much about the material things you lost, they can always be replaced in time. indeed, it's a lesson that we should learn from. trusting complete strangers. while i hope that your experience will not discourage you to continue helping people in real need, just be more careful and discerning. i have not experienced a similar sad story as yours, but i've encountered people who use and abuse others too, though in different ways. i just stay away from them and mind my own business.

Thanks a lot for your concern zapatee.. I deeply appreciate it! Although I can hardly keep up with the material things that I lost, what matters most is that I'm still alive and capable of having more than what I've lost. That experience made my perspectives in life change. I think we just have to prejudge people first before rendering service if it's not in line with our job or if we're not obliged to lend a hand. These times we just can't trust anybody. Being a good Samaritan isn't bad but we must make sure if it's worth taking the risk to help.
You're right zapatee, I'll take that advice from you.. I should mind my own business the next time.
Happy mylotting!

In one way or the other, you have all the good intentions my friend. You just proved to yourself, you have a kind heart. I hope and pray it wouldn't happen to you again, and to our fellow my lotters here. This would serve as a warning and reminder. Thanks for the post. Sorry to hear such an experience. God bless you more and more, and have a happy life! :D
