i always ask that to myself, why we always listen sad songs when our heart is broken? but then i also do that, it helps my heart to heal from being broken. and to reminisce and reminds my happy and lonely times with my ex-partner. i will create a sad song play list and always play this every night before i go to sleep. how about you, do you listen sad songs?

I do because I want to pour out my emotion, but after doing so, I feel relieved and refreshed from everything and it's time to move on!
So music gives me strength!

I agree with you. I also do that so I could cry more. I want to let it out. All those feelings that makes me feel sad. And yeah after doing so I'm also relieved and refreshed from all that happened to me. Then I started moving on. Me too, music is my strength. It gives me energy. There was even a time that whenever I'm mad or very sad, I would listen to rock songs, or those that would make my heart beat faster because of loud music. Hahaha. Sounds like torture but it kinda help.

When we are feeling blue, listening to others sing the blues helps us to get through these trying moments. Ths sadder we feel, the sadder the song we need to hear.

we always listen to sad songs when our heart is broken because mostly songs or lovesong can make us feel how to relate to our present situation. Even me, when my boyfriend of 7 years broke up with me. I listen to songs just to ease my emotions.

Why do we listen to sad song when we are mending a heart broken and cried with sad songs yet,we keep listening to it.
Maybe because,it's the only way we can relate more with the love/sad songs that were listening to.
Like when we are happy,we prefer to listen to more lively musics and when we are in some other mood,we listen to slow rock or rock musics.
Have a great weekend

We have same reasons. Sad songs relieve it all. Now I`d like to listen to sad but motivating songs. Dear lie by TLC is my most favorite... Hopefully I can move on soon.. !!!

I think it is because crying is good for you when your sad. Its a way to express your emotions and get all the pain out. Why else would we be made to cry. Its also a way of mourning for the relationship and person.

Nice topic. Yes, it is really wondering why people inspired to listen sad songs while they are in a sad mood. Perhaps we feel that the song as well as the singers are those who can relate to how we feel at the time being. It is somehow seems they console us in our sentimental moments.

Well I guess we are a sucker for heart aches and compounding it even more by listening to sad songs. In a way, I think this is better since it will help you to really feel that emotion and will be able to bring it out by crying. It is good to feel whatever you are currently feeling. In time it will all pass.

HI,
For me, I would not listen to sad songs when I have
broken heart.Even when I am not in good mood or sad, I
won't listen to sad songs, but I will choose for those rocks song
which help to build up my mood. At least, I feel more
energetic after listening to the rocks songs.

I wonder why people do that too. Maybe for consolation, because if you listen to happy music and love songs it would make them feel more down and heartbroken.. ? Good for you that those sad songs really help.. I don't listen that much sad songs but some of them are really good too-especially old one.

Because misery loves company. I try not to listen to sad songs when I'm sad, I listen to heavy metal music so I can get the anger or hurt feelings out. I'd rather listen to some inspirational music to help me feel better than using a sad song to fall deeper into debt with the tear man.

I think it is because at the time of sad moments we can really relate to the sad song lyrics. Sometimes we just have to really let it out and cry and sad songs have a tendency to allow us to do that with.
On the flip side if we are sad we sometimes need to get angry and some sad songs allow also to let out the anger.

I love to listen to music, especially love songs. But when I am hurt or in pain, I would listen to Korean songs. I love their music a lot. I love to listen to these songs because I don't understand the lyrics. It would be very helpful if you listen to instrumental songs or songs that don't have lyrics.

I actually got pregnant from a guy I was in love with and seeing. After almost a year of dating him and 2 months before my daughter was born I found out he was married and had another kid by a different woman. I made a mix cd full of cheating songs and it made me make fun of him at first, but it also helped get the hurt out.
