So, I finally went to see the movie

Hey, things happen, right?
But, we made a night of it, went to the Alamo Drafthouse and got dinner too.
And we all enjoyed the movie very much.
It was me, and the roomie, and the other roomie and our guy friend "J."
Now, I told them after it was over that it ended about where I expected it to. I asked the roommate what she thought, but she really hadn't been thinking that much about it.
Then she added: "But the next one is really going to be wild."
The other two said: "Huh?"
I reminded her that neither of them had read the book (or listened to it either.)
She smiled evilly.
"No spoilers!" J exclaimed.
"Oh, we wouldn't do that, its just a shame..." she said.
Well, we sent him home with my cds, but I hope they still work, because the cats had ruined the outside box...
He seemed a bit daunted by the fact that it was 17 cds!
Ah!
So, if you went to the movie with people who haven't read the book, would you practice restraint like we did? Believe me, it was TOUGH!

I don't think I can restrain myself at all! I would love to tell all of them what happened in the last book of Harry Potter!
Just kidding! I don't want to be a spoiler! I would keep mum and not tell them how it wound end!

we also in the family wish to have access of the series...
from the first book released perhaps, I wonder If where can we buy books, at the cheapest Price of course...
and it is, I think, best if we can have it for a wonderful gift of the Christmas season...

I am pretty good about not doing spoilers. I also do not do running book reviews and spoilers on books. I have family members who do this.

Happily, I pretty much am the only person that reads the kinds of books I do in my family, and the roommate and I are agreed to not spoil things for each other. For example, we were listening to the same book, her working and me in the car and at one point I was ahead of her, so I restrained myself to talk about only what she heard.
We finished about the same time.

Okay, & ditto to what Barbra Prez said. /i was wondering when I was reading everyones' posts how they had guessed which movie it was, & hadn't looked at the category until she mentioned the pic up top. Duh, Mags...
Yes, I, too, remember how annoyed I was when our friend "M.P." spoiled that film for us--wouldn't even stop talking when I told her not to tell any more! She was like a bird dog on point--bound & determined to continue to the end. I recall threatening to put a paper bag over her head if she didn't stop! I forget if that worked or not....
I also recall your statement to that nincompoop at Star Wars. I agree--"Epic!" I mentally shouted "You go girl!", & loved you for it.
I've no idea where my usual chutzpah was. I told you about that time when Gary took me to see my first opera in Houston (Of Mice & Men--very weird seeing guys in cowboy outfits singing like that! ) & we & 2 guys were the only people in the balcony? They had sooo much space, yet they sat right in front of us. Odd, to say the least, but that was nothing compared to what they did next! They started talking--not even about the opera!--& in a casual voice, not a whisper!
After a few minutes of gritting my teeth, I leaned over the seat & said (also in a regular voice), "Excuse me, but could you two please speak up? There're some people down there singing so loudly I can't quite make out what you're saying."
Of course my date was beet red, but I couldn't help but smile. We got to hear the rest of the opera, & despite the clash of clothing style, I actually enjoyed the rest of the opera; it was pretty good music, & I've always loved the story!

I wouldn't restrain myself in any way.. Because only two of my friends do not like spoilers.. I love spoilers. Even my other classmates couldn't restrain themselves after they watched it during the premiere.. They just babbled and told us all about it..almost every scene

Maggie and I had a spoiler for the Empire Strikes Back and I've to be aware that other people might not want to know stuff ahead of time.
However, for Titanic, I was animate about making sure everyone knew that the boat sank at the end. No, never actually went to see it.

oh, I should add here that when I did go see Empire, some jerk a few rows behind me quoted a line before the movie could say it. Well, this had a long silent pause before the line, when the jerk spoke, and a long silent pause after when I turned around and said very loudly: "SOME PEOPLE HAVEN'T SEE THIS MOVIE YET!"
At which point the guys friend reached over and slugged him in the chest and we heard NOTHING else from him for the rest of the movie.

I read your lines two times and what I understood from it is that, you watched a movie which is based on a novel or book which you already read. If I am right then you are talking about Harry potter because you have the photo of that movie on the right top. I think it is interesting to watch a movie even if I have read it. I will have more understanding and curiosity to compare the book and the movie. I have not read the books on this movie series but I watched the movies. I have read some Ian Fleming's novel and watched the movies also.
I enjoyed them and I watch them more than one times. Thank you and have a nice day ahead.

I've watched the first movies on TV and I read the first book.
The first book was a let down for me sadly. It was very much a children's book and I had expected more. I've not watched the series with any dedication even though I have enjoyed each movie a great deal...there has been no continuity for me.
Also, I can watch movies over and over and still be surprised and delighted at the climaxes and denouement. Therefore, you could be unrestrained and blab to me and it would go right over my head.

I thought perhaps you were talking about Harry, but had to come to the discussion itself to make sure (the email notifications don't show the category).
What part of "Part One" did your friends not understand?

What I was getting at was that the words "Part One" infer there is going to be a "Part Two", so why were they surprised to find out there would be another movie after this one...

i hate spoilers too, lol. but a few teasing from friends who've seen the movie i'm just about to see would be fine. talking about the movie after we have all seen it is much nicer cause then we would be able to go into details and discuss what each one's opinion of it.

I hate seeing a movie after I’ve read the book because the film is not usually as good but you are right it is difficult not to give away anything to the person who hasn’t read the book. I had this happen with my friend and, although it wasn’t a highly suspenseful story it was still difficult not to spoil it for her; all I could say was “Ha, ha!” every time there was a familiar scene…

I never have gottan into Harry Potter and never will. I don't get into that stuff. At least with Harry Potter. I do get into Disney Channel's show "Wizards of Waverly Place'! That is about wizards,a wizard world and doing magic. I think I get into that because it is funny! Harry Potter is serious and they begin out as books before they are movies! I love reading books but I am glad I am not fan of Harry Potter! Those books are unbelievible long! I am not one to read a book over 600 or 800 pages long!

At first I didn't see the picture in the corner and didn't know what movie you were talking about. I am probably the only person that has never seen the films or read the books. If I was at a film that I had seen before or read the book and knew what was going to happen I would try not to say anything. It is hard but I usually manage to do it.

You haven't heard of Harry Potter?
The last movie we went to was Alice in Wonderland, so its been a while for us too.
I don't believe in spoiling things, tho after we were out we did tell them that they had showed one little scene in the movie that we were only told about in the book, it was a nice addition.
