Apart from the piano, I do love playing the guitar. Actually , its more simple and quite easy to learn than the piano or any other musical instrument... to learn, I guess you have to buy a lesson book for guitar chord... its available even in the net grab yourself a copy.... just follow the position of the dots

I started to learn to play guitar today... because there's happen to be a guitar laying around. I find it on youtube and learn my favorite song Lost by Anouk. It's so easy because there's only 4 chords involved. If you want to learn to play the instrument I'd suggest you to go to youtube .com there's a lot of lesson, try to find the easy on for beginner. I'd prefer learning a song rather than have to start learning from ABC, that way I can learn to play only the song that I wanted... Goodluck for you!!

I learned it all by myself. All you need is just a guitar and a chord chart. Memorize the chord chart but only the Major, minor, first. Then practice the transition of chords like A to B, B to C, E to A and so on. Practice makes perfect and at first you be thinking to give up because its hard. I also experienced that but I am motivated to learn so I force myself to learn it even if my fingers are painful. Just stay motivated and internet sources can help you a lot like youtube. There you can visualize what you're gonna do with your guitar. I hope i helped you. Goodluck..

I strongly recommend taking classes from a real teacher/professor. You will avoid learning some bad habits this way. It's much easier to avoid a bad habit than unlearning one.

I like the guitar too, but I can't play it that well. If you really want to learn, and learn fast, I suggest that you get someone to teach you how personally. Me, I don't have a teacher, so I'm learning by myself. If you want to it that way, I will share with you how I do it. Now, I don't know if it will work for you, but it does for me. For easy songs, at least. What I did was memorize the basic chords, the majors and the minors. Oh, it's best if you have a chord chart and familiarize yourself with it. Like what the numbers and the lines represent. So, once you know the chords, familiarize yourself with strumming. What I do is choose a song that seems easy to strum, then search for the chords. When I already know the chords then, lucky for me. If not, I draw the chord on the music sheet that I print. Once my fingers get used to the chords, I grab my iPod and listen to the song, then try to strum as I listen. I do this for a couple of times until I get it. It doesn't always happen fast though.

I learned to play the guitar old school style :D I borrowed my brother's guitar and opened up a song book that has chords. Most books like this have a glossary of chords. Pick a song, learn the chords by looking at them one by one at the chord glossary, and you'll learn other songs and how to improvise in no time! It may take a lot of patience, but to make things easy for you, start with a song you really really like.

I like the guitar, too. But, I started learning it an early age, and pretty much stopped from high school onwards. I think you have to pick it up, learn some chords first, strum a song, and if you pick up real fast, learning would be easy. For some, it could be hard at first, especially if you're not really grounded in music. But, as in everything in life, practice and hard work is necessary if you want to be good at it. If you have money and time to spare, enroll at a music school, or get a tutor, or you could just ask someone you know to teach you.

I play guitar and from my experience it didn't take long for you to be able to play your first song. For your question, I give you what is the important thing for you to learn playing guitar. 1. You must be passionate and motivated to play guitar. If you are not interested and committed enough it will difficult for you to play guitar. 2. Buy a chord book or you can browse it on internet. Learn how to tune the guitar and few basic chord first with the minor and sharp or flet. 3. Pick a simple song for you to play and try to get thr rythm of playing guitar. Play the song on and on again until you can make a smooth transition of chord change. Pick a song with only 3 chords to play. 4. Pick a more difficult song with at least 5 chords to play and practise it. 5. And now it all about practise.
