who is that one person (or persons) that you believe made a significant influence in your life or any specific facet in your life that contributed to your growth, positive change, or change of perspectives? does this person still continue to influence you in one way or another? if so, how?

wow, lakota, that is something. most people i know look up to real and close people in their lives like parents, grandparents, other relatives, friends, co-workers, etc. but yours is something original, i guess. lol. so, you're saying that the roles or characters played in some movies really influenced you more than any other person in your life? well, you certainly took their influence to heart since you became a strong person like you say. thanks for your response!

I think my grandmother made a significant influence in my life. She taught my pride in our America, ehtics, old fashioned values, etc. She is always influencing me although she has been gone for about twenty plus years. I am glad to have had in my early years. She taught me how to be quite a woman.

oh, grandmothers are also very influential. great to know that even though she's been gone for over twenty years now, you still remember and practice the things that she taught you. i'm not sure about the young ones today if they will still care to remember, much more practice, what their grandparents teach them when they become adults. i lost mine when i was already an adult, but i still refer to her as my "last and sweetest link to my past". i think most grandparents are patient, sweet, and gentle. best of all, they teach their grandchildren good values and wisdom in an endearing way--telling old stories. something that most young grandchildren love. thanks for your response, celticeagle!

i agree with you on that. i and my siblings always spent our summers with our grandparents when we were little. it was always fun. i remember how our grandmother would tell us short stories and teach us old, positive values. plus, how to eat healthy foods, lol.

Yep. A sweet link to our past to be sure. We all should grow up with grandparents in the household or nearby. Many don't. It's a wonderful thing.

My mother was the best and most direct influence on my life. I will miss her gentle hand trying to guide me.

mothers really create a great impact on their children's lives, so it's not surprising to find that most of us are molded or influenced by them even when we're already adults ourselves. the gentlest and sweetest mothers are always the best. you are very lucky to have one who guided you through life, elicbxn. thanks for the response!

that's sweet, indahfth. mothers always have the biggest role in their children's lives. like you, my own mother still try to give me pieces of advice about life, work, and raising a child every chance she gets. i think i'm even getting more of it from her now that i'm already an adult as opposed to when i was younger, lol. thanks for responding!

my husband. despite being physically challenged, he had never allowed the affliction (he got stroke when he was 23) to limit himself. he could drive, he could decide, he makes us laugh so hard, he can cook delicious food, he is willing to offer help if need be, etc etc. there are countless reasons i could say telling that he is one significant person who had influenced me a lot. the inspiration is so great it made me a better person.

wow, bingskee, that's amazing. i really admire people who never allow negative experiences they had in their past or present life, physical or emotional, to interfere with their life and future. i also know someone who went through some difficulties in his life since childhood but carried on to become a successful professional later on. you are very lucky to have found such a person to share your whole life with. i've always believed that people who are strong emotionally and mentally will always have the best coming for them in the end. some even use their bad or sad experiences as a springboard to becoming a better person, and that's very inspiring. i consider them not just survivors, but winners in the real sense of the word. from what you say about your husband, he fits this description to a t. thanks for the response!

The one person that has made the most significant influence on my life is my mother. The reason that I say that she is that person is because of the fact that through my childhood she taught me to be the woman that I am today. She still continues to be a huge influence on my life because of the fact that she is the shoulder that I lean on when I am going through very tough aspects in my life. I really don't know where I would be without my mother.

wow, you are very lucky to have a mother who gives you a lot of support. parents really create a huge impact in the lives of their children, and i'm glad your own mother is one of these good people. she must be a strong and smart mom to be always there whenever you need her. it's just sad to know that not all parents can be a very influence on their children. i've heard a lot of parents who really neglect, ignore, or even abuse their own children. in your case, however, you are indeed lucky, dorannwin. thanks for responding!
