I enjoy watching shows like Top Chef and Ace of Cakes, but I would not do well as a contestant on any of these. What about you? Would you want to be on a cooking show and if so what one would you like to be on? I know I would like to be able to cook the way that some of these people cook. I would love to have the skill to make gourmet meals and wonderful cake decorating skills.

I won't ever consider going on one of these shows, as the enjoyment of cooking would disappear for me. Cooking is fun and suddenly having people try getting me off the show so they can get the money is bad. I think the best cook should win these shows, but that rarely happens. I look at the success of some past winners and we can see some of the non-winners are doing better.

I guess I am with you. Cooking competitively would absolutely stress me out. I have not followed the shows, do not have cable television, so I do not get them. I do agree that on many competitive shows it is not always the best participant that wins.

Nope, I do not want to be on any cooking show. I do not watch them either. I like to cook, for my family and for a friends.

I love Top Chef. This season is especially great because it is Top Chef: All Stars, all the best contestants from past seasons who came close, but didn't win. If I could cook like them, I'd be on the show in a heartbeat. But I don't have that kind of talent. I think I'd rather just watch the show, because I'd be too frantic to compete in them.

I enjoy that one too. I find that I would not have the talent to compete either.

No, I don't think I would want to be on these shows...nor would they want me.
I am not a cook at heart.
I just get buy....and my family is not getting any thinner so.....
I am not interested in cooking....I skip the cooking shows and even skip the cooking pages in magazines.

I know how to bake, but I do not know all of the secrets that these bakers know.

Practice makes perfect, you will be able to know those secrets as you practice your skills. Also we have websites where we can get hints and techniques in baking. Enjoy Baking.

It would really be a dream come true if I can just even watch them on the set when they're taping their cooking shows. I would love to see Jamie Oliver on his cooking shows, Iron Chef America is also one of my favorites and I'd love to be an audience there. I want to ask them how they prepare their dishes so well and if I can ask for a free cook book! hehe... I'd love to be in Ace of Cakes' bakeshop too. :)
