hello mylotters, We all know that the two network giants here in the Phils. is ABS and GMA. I myself is a tv watcher specially at night when i arrive home from work. However, i would usually click the two channels specially during commercials hoping that i could catch other news from both channels. But they usually have the same news. However again, i would usually be watching long at GMA because they don't delve too much on one news unlike the other network. In my types of programs , i choose those to my liking hence i can't say that i prefer GMA to ABS. So, i am just curious if anyone from you do the same as me, switching channels from ABS to GMA during commercials? I am so patriotic i guess, that i rarely see other foreign channels on our cable, that my husband says our cable is useless.

I barely watch those two channels. I usually watch Velvet, ETC, Warner or AXN Beyond. I only get to watch those when I'm at he office where we don't have cable or when I'm at other people's houses. Oh, also when I used to take the bus. Buses almost always tune in to GMA. If I have to choose though, I'd rather stick with ABS.

I don't really believe in surveys since they can be rigged. For one thing, whoever airs out the survey comes out number one. I've only heard one survey where the station said they were number two. It was a radio station though, but i forgot what station it was. It was years ago.

Mostly, i know likes ABS than GMA. However, some survey says GMA is more watched. perhaps those surveys are biased.

Hi, SIMPLYD! We do switch channels during commercials, too! Haha! My mother always watches ABS's teleserye, but peeks at GMA's as well. We do have cable, so our telly is indeed a very busy thing in the house. Good thing there's universal remote control available at department stores! :D Happy tv watching!

I rarely watch television shows. If I do have time, I watched the news but other than that, I am on my computer or watching a cable show. When I am watching the news, I switch channels between ABS-CBN and GMA.

I was watching tv when there are TV shows that I like it. usually if there are more movies that are box office movie (I'm anti-patron) in a day not watching TV? ever, even now do not have time to watch tv coz many tasks. anyways the show boring all, from the singing contest, soap operas plagiarism, reality shows are weird. Essentially ... not qualified ... so, why must also be on watch. in the Philippines may not apply this kind of situation.

I guess, you're much more into surfing the internet than tv watching. Happy Mylotting!

I just have let this off my chest - Please don't associate or equate your patriotism with the kind of programming or entertainment that you prefer. I understand that you don't have cable, so you're stuck with only two channels. But don't equate watching shows on a Philippine network as high as being patriotic becuase believe me your patriotism means much more than that. To answer your question, I switch channels all the time. The only problem that I always encounter is that sometimes some favorite shows of mine go on air at the same time. The good thing about cable is the reruns in case I missed a particular episode. Another good thing is I can watch a series without waiting another week for the next episode. Commercials are also a pain in my viewing pleasure simply because I'm more interested in the programs rather on the products. The most hated thing against ABS or GMA are their programmes - some materials are too recycled, some plots are long-winded and original material comes only once in a while. I also hate the hype they create for a show but not exactly living up to that hype - a good reason to abandon them and watch other entertaining programs instead.

Actually, we have cable. It's just that, we would always watch either GMA, ABS or some other local network. But for the soap operas for myself, i choose one that maybe a bit realistic and that's only because i have to have something to look forward to in the evening when i arrive home from work while taking a rest in our bedroom. Other than, that i flip channels to see what will interest me. Thanks for your thoughts.

i guess, it's the children who loves commercials. As for us adults, once we saw the commercial more than once, we would surely skip them.

We don't have cable either since my parents are the only once watching tv and both love to watch only those two big networks mentioned so what's the use?! Anyway, if ever i do watch tv, i stick to ABS because i have always love the network. I was born to watch their shows only. Although my other siblings like to see what the other networks are like but we still go back to ABS and finish what we are watching. And i should mention that in a day, we sometimes never really change the channel. That's how purely Kapamilya we are..

My mother-in-law is a fanatic of ABS too but in my parents house it's GMA they like to watch, though they all have cables too! See, how influential those two networks are. . . they really entertain all of us!

We don't have cables so we only watch the available channels. Most of the time we watch abs-cbn but only until the tv patrol after it we prefer to watch on channels with foreign tv series like studio 23 or solar and once in a while the imortal teleserye 'cause we kinda sick dramas . And yes I also love to switch channels during commercial specially if two separate shows are great. We didn't subscribed to cable since most of the movies are repeated, I guess only sports watching is great about having cable.

I guess, channel switching during commercials is blatant among tv watchers because we kinda grew sick of seeing them repeated over and over again. Ugh! Channels from cables such as HBO, Cinemax, AXN, DIVA etc. is being watched by my husband at our bedroom when he controls the remote the moment i tell him i will be sleeping already. I guess, he silently says YEHEY, because he says the teleserye i am watching is so baduy!

Kapamilya forever, some of GMA shows suck. They got only few talented artists that can be seen all throughout like Michael V, Ogie Alcasid. The rest, I find them "baduy", sorry for this comment..")
