Pedophiles Started a Cartoon Character Campaign on Facebook?!

The other day I've noticed that most of my friends changed their profile pictures to a cartoon character. Then I've read that this is a campaign against child violence.
However, today I've read another post from my friend saying that this campaign was initiated by pedophiles.
Guys! What's your take on this?

From what I have read its for the support on the campaign against violence in children and not by pedophiles. The article states that it was initiated in Greece or Cyprus. Well, I guess the important thing to consider regardless of who started such and the reason why, is not the issue but rather our own personal reason.

i agree with you. Me among with my friends, participated in this campaign. we didnt think twice changing our profile pics to cartoon character because we support the campaign against child violence. regardless of who started that campaign, it's the participant's own reason matter.

The pedophile claim is untrue and was mean spirited. I watched as many of my family & friends reposted the *warning* yesterday without checking it out first and quickly changing their profile pictures. Mine is still the cartoon character it was because I did bother to check it out.

What is important is who is doing it and WHY, not who started it. Most, if not all, people are doing it in support of the NSPCC and in protest against violence against children.

hi ip someone awhile back gave me some data about a pedophile group sending some sort of toy bear to kids to get to them and this just
about made me chuck my lunch; this so dreadful and they manage to
make things seem so great then find they are using lures to get
to little kids. I keep remembering on some television progarn a pedophile
was being interviewed by the host os the show, and he said anyone who thinks that pedophiles coming out of prison have been changed'
to think again , he s aid the first thingt on a pedophiles mind
when getting out is where is he going to find a l ittle kid again.
so in other words once a pedophile always a pedophile. yuck this is
so sick.

hello Ip!
Having friends who are working for an organization that promotes the development of children as well as safeguard them and their rights, i know for a fact that the campaign against child violence was not initiated by pedophiles. The move of changing the FB profile picture was to show support for such campaign and it's just plain nasty to attribute the initiation of the campaign to pedophiles.
A noble cause such as this should be strongly supported, not be ridiculed with such nasty and thoughtless warnings which are irrelevant to the whole agenda.

Haha that is hilarious. I haven't seen this yet. What cartoon character is it? It's pretty ironic that it would be against child violence and it was started by pedophiles.

i would join a campaign that would promote children's rights and prevent child violence. this cartoon character issue is, however, still rather confusing for me since i haven't fully read and understood the full context of each side (anti-child violence and anti-cartoon character profile pics). i need to browse and read up on it some more.

Hi there, Ip.:)
I'm sorry but I think this is so lame. I don't see any relevance about this. And those pedophiles are just so stupid thinking that a cartoon profile picture will lure kids to accept friendship more easily. How many children are now using FB? There might be a couple but I don't think they will readily accept a friend's request if it has a cartoon avatar.
And then, what? Why they have to set a time frame for that, too?
This is just my two cents worth, dear.:)

Would not surprise to me to hear something like this as so many horrible people today find it entertaining and fun to fool others. I did not participate as I am not normally a facebook user, but anyone who participated had their true intentions, and I feel this is really what is important.
