How to use Stumbleupon to bring traffic to articles?

I am trying to use Stumbleupon as I read a discussion saying that it was good for traffic, can someone explain to me how it works? I have used the sharing tools to put my articles on stumbleupon and I have been "stumbling" on websites clicking "like" or "dislike", will this help bring traffic or are there further things I need to do on the website? Somebody mentioned adding friends on there helps but they didnt say how to do this or how it helps. Sorry for sounding like I dont have a clue but actually I dont! Right now Im just enjoying reading all the different websites that it keeps bringing me, but it would be nice to understand how this is going to help me. Thank you to anyone who can help me with this!

The two users that commented before me are right. Get yourself a female account and make sure you make a lot of friends. Just stumble their websites and they'll return the favor. The more stumbles the more attention your website gets.

StumbleUpon is a bookmarking site.I had registered there a long time back and your discussion reminded me of it!!Another bookmarking site I regularly use is Delicious.It is also very good.Basically these sites are used to bookmark the sites you are interested in.So say for example, you have articles that are recipes, then you can bookmark those articles under the tag recipes.So that now our articles are categorized appropriately and people will visit them if they are looking for recipes.So they will simple 'stumble upon' your articles!!This is as far as I know.If I come to know about any other helpful hints will keep you updated.

Its starting to make a bit more sense to me now thank you, so the more bookmarking sites I join and put my articles on the more traffic Im likely to get? I know its not guarenteed but it gives you a better chance right? Might have a look at that Delicious, thank you!

First make yourself a female account because more people will be interested in your activities, lol. Next find a software to add friends fast like facebook blaster for facebook or twitter bot for twitter etc. I'm not sure of any programs because I don't need them as my blog is getting good traffic from stumbleupon. If you find such software for stumbleupon please let me know ok? Next make a page or event and invite friends. I hope this helps
