Do you eat seeds and nuts? Do you cook with them? We put sunflower seeds on cereal each morning and pumpkin seeds on stew or soup. We eat almonds, walnuts and peanuts by hand, a small amount each day. I put walnuts in anything I bake. Do you have any good ideas on how to use these andother nuts and seeds?

hi pat, in our country, the popular seeds are peanuts and cashew and pumpkin seeds. pumpkin seeds are good for snacks and even the watermelon seeds (pakwan seeds. good to have them when watching tv. peanuts are abundant, it is grinded into a paste (like the peanut butter texture) and used to flavor a very popular dish in the philippines - the kare-kare (made from ox tale and laced with vegetables). have a very nice day. ann

No, the only nuts that we eat here are salted peanuts and the occasional chocolate covered peanuts. All these types of nuts aren't healthy, I know, with all the oil, salt and not to mention chocolate. You must be very healthy people. Keep it up.

I love cashews, and am totally addicted to them. They are my favorite nut. I like to use them in broccoli salad or eat them plain. I also like sunflower seeds, and will add them to yogurt. I also make breads and will add seeds and nuts to those.

I absolutely love having sliced almonds on my cereal in the morning and I also like to have them on my salads. I don't really have any creative ways to cook with nuts except of course to put walnuts in chocolate chip cookies. However, sliced almonds are my favorite thing to put on a salad because it really changes the taste of the salad and also adds additional nutrients to the salad that wouldn't have been there otherwise. I wish that I had some great suggestions for cooking with nuts, but alas I don't.

Hi, We love the dry fruits and eat them anytime we feel like eating something in between meals. We have almonds, cashew nuts, walnuts, raisins and pistachios etc. We also add them to any sweets we make at home. My mother also soaks cashew nuts and adds them to the normal vegetables and rice pulav when she wants to. It really adds to the taste and taste wonderful. They taste good with prawns and mutton too.

I like all kinds of seeds and nuts, but I don't cook with them often. I sometimes add walnuts to baked pumpkin or banana bread and now and then I'll make cookies or browies with them in it. The way I really like nuts is in the shell, but the only time the stores sell them that way are like now, around the holidays. I try to buy extra so we can have them other times, too. I'd probably eat more of them if they weren't so expensive. One of my favorite ways to use them is to put them in jello, along with a can of fruit cocktail.

I eat milled flax seed in anything I bake. I like sunflower seeds by hand, and I like nuts in salads. The butternut soup that I make has chestnuts in it and then is garnished with pecans and blue cheese.

Hi savypat, Like you I put sunflower seeds on cereal every morning, but this is something that I've started in just the past year, and I also use flax seed but this too is relatively new. The only nuts that I eat on a regular basis is almonds and I've been eating just three every day for more than forty years. Blessings.

I love nuts but to be honest...I hardly ever eat them. I need to try and keep more around. I just don't really think about them to be honest. I think I will buy a bunch of nuts the next time I go shopping. I actually love almonds and cashews. I like peanuts too but not as much as the others. I also like pecans.

Yes I've eaten quite a number of them in the past but have since cut down on them recently. I've eaten macadamia nuts, walnuts, almonds and dried sunflower seeds. As for the macadamia nuts, I bought it that was displayed on top of a doughnut and it tastes nice! Walnuts and almonds can actually be made into desserts but I only buy them, I don't know how to make them.

Hi Savypat, How can you forget the ground nut?? :) I use it these days heavily. I know it is not good to use heavily but it is the time of the year when you go to the corners of the road and buy 100gm of them and eat the inner part by removing the cover with your teeth.:) It is a fashion here to to eat the ground nuts in winter. Other nuts are Almond, walnut and peanut which I like the most. I confuse with their English names because they all have a nut at the end and it makes me nut remembering them which one belongs to which..lol. It is easy to remember the Hindi names for me. Thank you and have a nice day/night ahead.

I put walnuts in my oatmeal in the mornings. Then I just eat them as a snack sometimes with dried fruit. But I don't really cook with them much. Occassionally I make muffins and throw some walnuts or pecans in them!

Cashews are great with chicken, so I use them when I make chicken a lot. Otherwise, I mostly use almonds and also hazelnuts for baking. I love nuts!
