At least it is in Kentucky right now. It has been pretty cold these last few days and it looks like there could be a winter storm this coming weekend. So, this got me to wondering what your favorite and least favorite things about winter are. For me, my favorite thing is to be able to look outside at the snow that looks so pure while sitting in front of a nice, hot fire. My least favorite thing about the winter is that the children aren't able to spend very much time playing outside and they get a lot of cabin fever.

We have a big cold snap in Missouri today. Had about 4 inches of snow yesterday so it was tough driving. Wind chill this morning is 10 to 15 below zero so I will be staying home. I also like to look outside and watch the snow fall. So pretty when it clings to the tree branches and covers the lawn. I get more done in the house when we have very cold weather. I can recall when our kids were small and it snowed. They couldn't wait to get outside and play even when it was beyond freezing outside. We have three daughters and sometimes having an odd amount of kids doesn't work that well...lol Petty arguments or disagreements kept them busy when they were cooped up inside. Television helped also and board games. Those days are gone now and our girls have kids of their own to entertain. Looking back, those were fun times.

I don't think there is anything in winter that I would consider a favorite. I don't mind the cold, but I don't like the snow. Specially the day after a good dumping. When it's all slippery on the road. My least favorite is driving when it's all black ice on the road. A lot of cars spinning around. Makes for a lot of unnecessary accidents.

Hello Dorannmwin! I am not hip to driving in this weather. I live in Ohio and you never know what you are going to get up here. I went last weekend just north of me to get my kids from their dads house and it took me almost two hours to get there as I normally take a half hour. The roads were horrible and I watched as southbound I75 was covered in car accidents. One SUV thought they could bypass another truck in the fast lane and he hit a patch of ice and slammed into the new guard rails. These are the ones that have the poles and the big wires that cross them. He snapped a wire and it hit another care trying to pass the same way to avoid getting clipped by a jack knifed semi. We were only moving about 25 mph on the northbound side and I was terrified. My chest got tight and my knuckles went white. On the other hand, though, the snow is pretty and this is my time to drink as much coffee and hot chocolate as I can. I love to cook big hot meals like soups and chilis and the like. Baking has come full swing too. It gets too hot to do in the summer time, so let it snow, I suppose. Have a good day!

I really don't know if there is anything I like about winter...except Christmas....but that really doesn't have anything to do with the season. It's cold, it' cold and it's cold. Seeing the pure, white snow doesn't even do it for me.\ Give me warm sunny days.

Well oddly, the thing I like the best AND the worst about winter is snow. I love the snow, and to see a blanket of snow on the ground is great, especially right around the holidays. The reason why I don't like the snow is that I live on top of a mountain. When we get snow up here, they close down the mountain for several hours, if not the entire day until they can properly plow and salt the roads. Even driving on top of the mountain is a challenge as they roads take FOREVER to plow. Of course you have to remember that I grew up near Chicago so I have seen more than my share of snow, but the roads were always plowed right away so you could easily get around town. Not down here...when it snows, you are pretty much trapped for a day or so.

I wish it was colder here :(, it's December and the temperature is way too high, which is unusual in this time of the year. A little snow can really make the Christmas atmosphere rise, as well as some chilly wind. My most favorite thing about winter is walking on the snow, while the city is sleeping. The feeling cannot be explained with words, it just fills you up with happiness ;). My least favorite thing is that i cannot go out as often as in the summer, but the holidays make up for it :).

Here in Canada, there has been pretty heavy snow falls these last few days. Freezing temperatures, and icy road conditions. But "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow" ! That is the beauty of the season. One can enjoy as one much as one wishes to.

I suddenly don't like the cold. I used to love it.. now I'm wishing it were summer again. Might be my age.. might be the weight loss.. who knows. As far as the kids playing outside.. I still take mine out. We were out both of the last 2 days as their school was cancelled due to getting 4 feet of snow since Saturday afternoon.. so we went to my FIL's house, shovelled him out and let the kids run around in the snow. They loved it. Today is a nice sunny day, but still cold so none of that snow is melting. It would be another good day to get them outside. Thankfully they're all in school today, but maybe we'll stop by my FIL's after school for a bit to give them something to do.

Here in NC we do not receive as much snow as you do. (I love watching the snow but I hate the aftermath of the snow). The weather is very cold right now. As of this very instant it is 25 degrees outside. That is so cold. I am shivering at the moment thinking about it. I like to sit around with my cups of coffee or cocoa or herbal tea and look at my seed books and dream about what I want to plant next spring. I am the same way about what I don't like. My youngest son cannot go out and play as often as he would like. He loves being outdoors but when it is so cold he cannot go. Now that I have thought about how cold it is I need to go put on more layers. Have a good day!

Don't laugh but at night the temperature has been dropping into the low 60"s and this is cold for us.I actually took a hot water bottle to bed last night and will do so again tonight. I do not like snow or cold. Not sure that I could cope with it again but if I had to then I would

Watching the snowfall and the Christmas holiday are what i enjoy of winter. Cold temperature, high heating bills and icy roads are things I would rather do without in the wintertime.

I am still out in TN so the weather here is in the 30's and no snow, but when I get back I understand it has been below zero and lots of snow.. brrr the thought is making me not want to return. My favorite part of winter is the cozy indoor times cuddling and not wanting to go out unless I so have too. My least favorite is the 30below zero Fahrenheit and the winter messy slush. So hate it.

I have just been to the college, moved from southeast China to northwest. It is rather cold here, but i'm expecting the snow fall though i have been through the snow many times even at one time been trapped in the school for nearly 3days because of the snow.In Oct,I saw the snow falls, but it is pretty small and we can not play in the snow happily. It is said,in December, there will be much more snow fall, and i am expecting, excepting to see the snow on northwest.

it is extremely cold here in the north. what i like about winter is i can cuddle up with my blanket as i lie on the couch. there is no humidity to deal with as in the summer. also, i can look forward to spring. it makes me appreciate it more.

My favorite thing about winter is the snow. Freshly fallen snow always looks so pretty, especially when it's cascading off the limbs of the trees. Playing in the snow is also a lot of fun. I enjoy building snowmen, making snow angels..etc...just as much as the kids do. My least favorite part about winter is the cold and ice and when the now melts, everything is brown, dirty and all slushy..And as you mentioned, the kids can't stay out so long, because of the wet clothes and cold.

What i like about winter is that you can feel the wind... ! is a cold wind that carries you to an pleasure state. Well... winter here in Ecuador isn't as cold as it is in other countries. I would love to see snow out of my house!... it would be amazing... what is the average in winter where you live?
